The resistance fell.
The year is 2420, and after years of fighting between the human resistance and the android army around the world, the last human-controlled city, Des Moines, has fallen. As you wander the war-torn streets, stripped of all of your possessions and under constant surveillance by quadcopter drones and android patrols, you wonder how humanity can recover. Then you arrive at a T-junction.
Choice 1 : Turn left, toward the neon filled alley
Choice 2 : Turn right, toward the dimly lit alley
The Neon District.
As you turn left, you see a busy alley filled with neon signs and lights, followed by the sound of people chatting. You enter the alley and notice that there are a surprising number of humans untouched by the invading machines, perhaps because the android core system has deemed them too low a threat to be dealt with. You approach the center of the so-called Neon District and are immediately approached by a man in his fifties. In an accent that is almost unintelligible due to an odd deformation on his face, he explains that the building behind him, which is a bar, is having a party and asks you if you would like to join.
Choice 1 : Follow the man into the bar
Choice 2 : Continue down the road
The dark road.
As you turn right, you see a lifeless street, lit only by the dim light of the android patrols' headlights and the spotlights of the drones above. As you walk through the alley, you are suddenly hit in the head and the next thing you know, you are tied to a chair in a basement in front of two men. They introduce themselves as members of a separate resistance group, actively trying to bring down the central system controlling all the machines. Since they know of your background as a prolific computer scientist before the war, who knows the ins and outs of all things computer related, they offer you to join the resistance trying to fight the machines.
Choice 1 : Accept the men's offer
Choice 2 : Reject the men's offer
The bar.
Once inside, the bar seems almost too normal. Immediately on the right, you see a wall of random liquors in unmarked bottles. and on your left, several make-shift tables and chairs made from scraps from what you think are car hoods, road signs, android parts, and many other unrecognizable items. There was also music playing to your surprise, smooth jazz, coming from seemingly nowhere. You walk down the two steps of stairs which elevated the entrance area slightly and go deeper into the seemingly ordinary bar. At that exact moment, you start realizing something odd, all the people inside are all way too calm and quiet. Furthermore, you remark that the guests of the bar all have their plate filled with nothing but meat, an extremely hard to come by commodity in this machine-filled world.

End of the Neon District.
You continued walking down the street. You are called by a number of people along the road, but you ignored all of them. At the end of the road, you are faced with another T junction.
Choice 1 : Turn left, going back home
Choice 2 : Turn right, toward the dimly lit alley
Ending 1: The bar.
As you walk deeper inside the bar, you are suddenly blinded by a bag over your head. You struggle to break free, but to no avail, as your weak frame can't even shake what seems to be the force of multiple men. You suddenly felt a blunt impact on the back of your head and lost consciousness. When you woke up, you find yourself strapped to a wooden board, and a huge man next to you, holding a butcher knife.
Choice 1 : The End.
Welcome to the resistance.
When you accepted the offer to join them, the men untie you and give you a warm welcome to the resistance. They signal you to follow them and leave the room. As you walk through the ordinary-looking door, you realize that the room you were in was not a basement at all, but actually a small part of a huge underground city. Within minutes of walking, you are overwhelmed with all the elements of an ordinary pre-war society, but this time all underground, far from the reach of the machine. The men have shown you your own room to work on a potential way to fight the machines. Filled with state-of-the-art computers, monitors, and many other handy gadgets for developing software that will be useful to you. Although you don't get an actual wage for your work, you still feel at home. But before working, you decided to take a well-deserved break. A week has passed, as time flies during the good times, and you decide that it is finally time to start working on your first task as a resistance intern, and probably your only task: finding a way to defeat the machines. Since it's impossible to physically destroy the machines, your only chance is a cyberattack. What type of cyberattack will you choose?
Choice 1 : A DoS (Denial-of-service) attack to overwhelm the machine system
Choice 2 : A virus to attempt to destroy the machine system
Ending 3: Home and rot.
As you turn left, you decide to head back to your "home", the Wells Fargo Stadium. Well, at least what's left of it. It has been repurposed by the remaining human survivors into somewhat of a community shelter. After the walk through the city, you decided to stay at the stadium as it's the safest place you can stay. As days turn into months and months into years, your body physically became weaker and weaker, and eventually, you succumb to diseases on your third year of hiding.
Choice 1 : The End.
Ending 2: Dispatched.
You have refused the offer of the men. Much to their disappointment, they have to get rid of you for safety reasons, as the machines are known to take intelligent human survivors, as they are invaluable to the machines. In order to undermine any progress for the machines, they slipped a colorless liquid into a glass of water and forced you to drink it, you begin to feel weaker and weaker until the last bit of light disappears before your eyes.
Choice 1 : The End.
The virus.
You've decided that the best way to wipe out the machines for good is with viruses and you get to work. You know that the entire army of machines is controlled by a single artificial intelligence CPU and that the best way to disable a hive mind is of course to destroy the one in charge it. What kind of infection mechanism will you use for the virus?
Choice 1 : A virus carried by an executable program

Ending 4: Too much computing power.
You decided that preparing a Denial-of-service attack on the machine system is the preferred way to go. You started working on the software and hardware infrastructure needed to perform such an attack. After months of preparation and most of the available resources to the resistance used up, the attack is ready. Days later, after some final revision, the attack is carried out against the machine system. However, even after confirming that the cyber-attack has indeed reached its target, you fail to find any sign that the attack has worked. The drones are still flying and the patrols are still roaming. It turns out that a denial-of-service attack, which depends on overwhelming a system's computing resources to work, has almost no effect on the machine system as its computing powers are almost limitless. Because of the attack, the machines have now located the underground city and knocking on its doors.
Choice 1 : The End.
Ending 5: Wrong mechanism.
You have decided to work on a virus that uses an executable as a host. After months of development, the virus is ready. However, when you tried to inject the virus into the machine system network through a proxy drone, it seems to have no effect. Even after weeks of the executable being inside the machine system, nothing happened. It turns out that due to the advanced structure of the software infrastructure of the machines, they do not use a traditional operating system, without which the executable can never be executed, and therefore the virus will never be activated. Because of the attack, the machines have now located the underground city and are knocking on its doors.
Choice 1 : The End.
Virus development.
You have decided to create a stealth virus with a built-in logic bomb. After months of work, overtime, and exhausting almost all the resources of the resistance, the virus is finished. This virus will mimic and take over basic system functions, mainly the malware detection algorithm, in order to hide itself. And when the time comes, the logic bomb will be detonated, damaging or destroying the host system. Now, with a potential lifesaver in hand. You must find a way to inject the virus.
Choice 1 : Inject the virus directly into the central system

Ending 6: Overwhelmed.
You have decided that the safest way to inject the virus into the system is directly into the central system, which is located in nearby Minneapolis. For what could be the final battle for the future of humanity, each member of the resistance prepared for a long journey to Minneapolis. Throughout the next month, the long treks took their toll on much of the resistance. Some succumbed to disease, others to lack of food, and most to machine attacks. When you finally reach the city, only a few members remain alive but barely functional. As you enter the city, you are immediately hustled by a horde of machines, all models you know and many you have never seen before. Due to your lack of hydration and rest, you can't even run for your life. As you stand in front of these overwhelming enemies, you say your last prayers.
Choice 1 : The End.
Ending 7: Victory.
Now that the virus is done, all that remains is to inject it. You say to yourself that since the machine works like a hive, each proxy machine is connected in one way or another to the central system. So you just have to inject the virus into any drone or android. Although these are only human-sized targets, unlike other huge war machines, this is still an extreme undertaking for any human. In order to capture a proxy and inject the virus, you and a small group of resistance members decided to go in search of it. As you turn a corner, you see an android on patrol heading your way. The group quickly sets up a trap and waits patiently. A few moments later, the trap is sprung. With the help of the other members, you have managed to locate the android and inject the virus through a data link port on the back of its head. However, as you and the group leave the underground city, the location of the exit has been spotted by a drone hovering in the air, and an army of machines is now heading for the underground paradise. You leave the android on the group and rush towards the city. When you arrive, the resistance is already desperately fighting the machines, so you immediately join them. As you are overpowered by an android, about to be crushed, it begins to shake uncontrollably. A few moments later, it has fallen to the ground with all the other machines. Having finally done your duty, you lay on the ground, finally free of your fears and dreads. The humans had won.
