It all started here.

After all those years of study, I finally got my degree in medicine! I just graduated from UQAM university, hoping for the best to come. I spent my hours studying and practicing tougher school subjects to become better. However, medicine field opens a lot of great possibilities to achieve a successful life for me. I just don't know if I should become a dentist, a forensic doctor or go work in a hospital.

Choice 1 : I choose to become a dentist.

Choice 2 : I choose to become a forensic doctor.

Choice 3 : I decide to work in a hospital.

I have been working at Centre Dentaire Rose near Fleury Est as a pro dentist. I receive a premium wage as many other advantages, such dental assurances, and paid holidays. I learn the ropes easily in this work even if playing with tools in a patient mouth is not obvious. Some patients are very sensitive and manage to stress me out more than I already am. When I come home, I feel overwhelmed with overload appointments. I would like to put money aside, but the drive of work pushes me to buy some alcohol to relax some nights out. More often than not, I take a leave of absence to relax my mind and take some time for me. Getting straight As made me think that I could achieve anything in life. My time management has been messy and many of my coworkers start to undermine me. Many customers started to complain about how harsh I am with them when proceeding to their treatment. I think I should change my profession for something I can manage more.

Here I am exercising my dream career. People always asks me what it is like to be a forensic doctor examiner. To be honest, it feels amazing! Before hiring me, they did a background check. I do not feel guilty of anything because I never committed a crime! In depth of this profession, I am always paired up with someone to examine a body. My partner in crime is called Jeff. Jeff and I work on a criminal record given by a lawyer or a coroner, a police officer chef. We lack of workforce in this industry, so we try to pull off our best qualities to prove our expertise. Sometimes, cases are maddening. To see how some humans heartlessly hurt others is frustrating. I even want to cry seeing those horrible crimes. By chance, I had a training on how to deal with difficult emotions in different situations able to happen. This is how I can deal with thoughtful situations facing me. Plus, my friend Jeff is here. His support is invaluable. We sure work overtime or travel a lot, but no time for legwork! Nobody is here to hinder my source of living, my work. To see a real body and its components, knowing them and understanding how it works are the best experiences. I surely did a great job choosing this career.

I have been working for 5 months at Fleury Hospital. It is great since I live near the hospital. I live on Papineau Fleury. Now, we are in a fragile estate. The Covid-19 virus affects everybody. When the pandemic started, I would not think this virus was about to be a big deal. At this moment, hospitals are full. People are attacking each other over who is first. The nurses too are getting attacked because of the waiting line growing each time. I wish I could calm them down, but when I speak up, it is getting worse! I encounter a lot of bias from patients such as “You are black, you’re incompetent”. I fear that my coworkers feel the same way as them. When I look at my coworkers, their misconduct tells everything. Yesterday, I learned from my manager Abigale that those same coworkers looking bad at me were getting sucked up in trash talking my person. Office politics happen a lot in hospitals. HR does not seem like they want to help me with this situation. I think I should leave this job.
