Choice of the Field of Study.

Now that I’ve finished with high school, I have to choose wisely my field of study. Since I was performing in my theater class in school, I thought it was a good idea to go exploring this domain in college. I like to act, and it would be an opportunity to meet a lot of interesting people. In the other hand, I love computer and everything it’s related to. I build my own one two years ago and really felt in love with this ecosystem of geeky stuff. I honestly see myself in both of these field, and it’s a very hard decision to make but I have to make it, I have no choice.

Choice 1 : Theater Program.

Choice 2 : Development Program.

Theater Program.

So finally I chose theater, I’m very excited to explore more of this field but my parents aren’t that enthusiast. They told me that there is no future in this program, that it’s a dend-end job with no opportunity to grow and it doesn’t make enough money. I don’t want to believe that, I’m sure they’re wrong and that there’s plenty of opportunities for me to grow and to meet wonderful people. What should I do?

Choice 1 : Continue in Theater without telling my parents!

Choice 2 : Confront my Parents.

Choice 3 : Accept my Parent's decision.

Development Program.

So finally, I chose development, I’m very excited to explore more of this field and my parents seems very happy and proud. They told me that there are plenty of opportunities in this field and that the demand is just going to increase with time. Also, the salary is very good. The good news is that my mother worked in a company called CdProjektRed, and she knows the manager there, she told me that she could get me an internship very easily, so I can see what this industry looks like from the inside.

Choice 1 : Accept the Internship.

Choice 2 : Refuse the Internship.

Continue in Theater without telling my parents!

I won’t let my parents decide for myself, I know that I want to do and if they don’t want to support me, then I will prove them that I can have a decent career by doing something that I like, even if it’s not as profitable as a “normal” job.

Choice 1 : Talk with my Parents.

Confront my Parents.

We started to have a big argument here… But even if I have all the will power, I can't handle my parents when they are in this state of mind, I guess they want the best for me and if they don’t want me to go in theater, it’s for the better.

Choice 1 : Reconsider my choice.

Accept my Parent's decision.

They are right, there is no future in this field, I can’t risk my whole career for a selfish desire like that. I have to find a job that will give me security and prosperity.

Accept the Internship.

I accepted the stage at the company my mom was working at. They are plenty of possibilities for me and I can finally start working on project I’ve been studying for. This is the best opportunity for me to become more and more comfortable with this industry. I will have to make a plan after the internship, it was a good experience but now I need to find a job.

Choice 1 : I become Independent.

Choice 2 : I find a Job.

Refuse the Internship.

I don’t want to be forged into something I don’t want to be, I don’t want to respect code from the industry. If I decide to go on that path, I will need a lot of determination. It’s not going to be easy, I’m stressed, and I don’t want to have a dead-end job. I am not sure of my choice anymore.

Talk with my Parents.

My parents discovered that I went into theater without telling them… They finally understood, and knew that because I went without even telling them, it’s because I really want it, and they understood. I love my parents even if sometimes they are a bit stupid! Next time, I will know that it's always better to communicate!

Now that I have accepted my path concerning the choice with the internship, I need to work hard, become independent and learn everything I need to know for a beautiful career!

After my internship at CdProjektRed, I’m more than ever motivated to find the job of my life, I need more than what I have done in my life, I need to progress in development or else I will not be happy in my life.

Being independent demands a lot of work and maturity, I am not ready for this, I can’t do this….

Thanks to my hard work and perseverance, I’m now the leader of a gaming company and I’m very proud of myself!

FINALLY !! I found a job at Ubisoft Montreal, this was my dream job, I am very proud of myself and of the path I’ve chosen ! There is still plenty of things to discover!
