Approaching the End.

I'm near the end of my second year at Lasalle College. I have to start thinking about my next step for my future job. I'm really interested in product development, I think the creation process is so interesting. Since I'm a nature enthusiast I'd love to work for a brand like Arc'teryx and be part of the design team that creates new technical gear every year. I could also start searching for a job and start my career right after my DEC but I feel like not having a university degree is kind of a drawback nowadays.

My hard work paid off, I've been admitted to the industrial design bachelor's degree at Université de Montréal. I deeply enjoy the program so far. My new friends are all coming from different backgrounds and I get to learn a lot of new stuff. With all the skills that I have now, I'm feeling confident to start working on some personal projects.

I have now finished my DEC in fashion marketing and I'm ready to commit to a full time job! Now I have to think what I would enjoy doing as a professional. Being a photographer could be a possibility, I already have learned the ropes of digital and film photography as a hobby that came handy for some previous school projects. Marketing could be another plan, I pulled of straight A's in these classes and I know the ins-and-outs of the job because I have been taking marketing contracts as a freelancer for a year now.

Invest more time in personal projects.

My inspiration is flowing, I'm currently working on my own backpack brand! I'm so thrilled about the launching, I've been working hard and investing a lot of money on this project lately. Product samples and tests aren't cheap to make. My grades are starting to fall off a bit, but I'm sure I'll manage both my brand and grades for the rest of the semester.

Concentrate on school work.

There are a lot of distractions when you're in University. Hanging out with friends and go out on Friday nights sounds like a good plan but I have a good discipline and time management. I complete my homework and school projects in time and my grades are all over 85%. This is worth staying in!

I'm starting my career as a photographer. I've been able to shoot for a couple of brands and model agencies. I enjoy being my own boss and make my schedules but there is something missing in my life, a bit of spice maybe? I need to make a big move so it can push me even further in the vast world of photography.

After a couple interviews with marketing specialists, I got a job at small social media marketing agency. The work environment is cozy, my coworkers are nice, and we get free coffee! Even though everything seems to be fine about this job, I still can't see myself doing this my whole life.

We're now at the final week of the semester, I'm very late and my list of school projects keeps growing. The launching has been tough, I definitely underestimated how much time it would take to have a solid brand structure. My decision is to shut down the brand. Now I'm broke and hardly passing half of my classes. What a mess!

The New York Museum of Modern Arts is holding a contest to find new artists to feature in their next street photography exhibition. This is my chance I have to submit my work! This would boost my popularity and increase my chance to get better contracts.

Try to make my way to fashion weeks.

I'm learning that to get access to fashion weeks shows you either have to be a photographer for the brand presenting or being a press member. It's near impossible to get a job for a famous designer as small scale worker in Montreal like me. Plus, there's no way that I'll become a paparazzi.

It's been a long four years of hard work but I can now say that I own a bachelor's degree! I made lots of cool projects that are worth showing to employers. I also got a mention of excellence from the program that might let me get a premium wage!

I'm beginning at Arc'teryx headquarters tomorrow! I can't describe my feelings, this is the job I have been dreaming of for a long time. It all comes true I am now a product developer for my favorite outdoor brand. Wish me luck!

My work is exposed at the notorious museum. Who knew that my skills with cameras would take me this far? It is now official, with all the contracts I've gained I can now make it my official job. The best part of it is that I shoot for famous artists and magazines!

The jury of MoMA's contest didn't keep my work. I guess I'll have to stick to what is know. Maybe I should keep photography as a hobby since it doesn't seem like my career is going to evolve much?

I turned down the offer Arc'Teryx made to me because another employer offered me a better salary and vacations. It is a bit sad, but I'll have better conditions to build a family in a couple of years!
