The end of June was getting closer and I had to do a choice for my future. My grades were pretty low and I knew that I didn't have a lot of choice in front of me. I started to think of things that I really enjoyed during high school and there was this side class that we were cooking small recipes and it was really fun. Suddenly, I told myself why not and try to become a future cook so, I was then thinking to myself If I should continue my field of study by going to college or go do training at the Laval Hotel School.
Choice 1 : Go to college.
Choice 2 : Go to the Laval Hotel School.

Both of the choices were great but in my head, I felt like going to college was better because I could become higher than a simple Cook. At the end of my last year at Saint-Maxime, the high school that I went to for about 3 years, I decided to apply at Montmorency in Food Service and Restaurant Management. It was a really interesting program and I was feeling like the other students were really helpful and kind to each other. The program was 2 years long so I had a lot of time to learn and acquire new skills before working as a cook. In my last year in the program, I discovered that I had 2 other possibilities: either I go directly to the labor market or keep going to the university at the UQAM.
Choice 1 : Go to the labor market.
Choice 2 : Go to the university.
I applied at Club Golf Islemere at Saint-Dorothee as a cook. After a couple of days, I got hired, and they made me do an OTJ to see the skills that I have. They saw that I had a lot of experience, so they decided to put me in the front row with all the other advanced cook and the main chef. We did a big night with over 600 people and it went really well. Everybody was working fine and I could feel the chemistry going through each other. I really enjoy the job and now I've been the main chef for about 2 years.
Choice 1 : The ending of highschool.
At the end of my training at Montmorency, I applied at UQAM to continue my field of study in Food Service and Restaurant Management. The program was really easy because it was only for 3 years, so I had a lot of time to do all the projects and main courses. The teachers were really kind and the experience was fascinating and fun. After the 3 years of training, I've heard that I could become a big Chef, so I decided to apply at Sheraton in Laval, a big 5* restaurant. It's been 5 years I'm working here now and the experience is amazing, people are really nice, and they enjoy my food, so I decided to live my life as a Chef there.
Choice 1 : The ending of highschool.
After my last year at Saint-Maxime high school, I decided to go to the Laval Hotel School to finish my education as a cook. I would be lying to you if I would say that I don't regret my choice. I thought that this training would have been easier and better than going to college but It's not true. The training is the exact same duration and it brings fewer skills and information about my future career. At the end of it, I still got a job but not as decent as I thought. I work in a small restaurant as an advanced chef but the salary is not high. If I could give advice I would say to not chose your future, the most important thing in your life at the last minute, always plan your future in advance.
Choice 1 : The ending of highschool.
