Life in Cegep.

My name is James, I'm 19 years old and I'm currently completing my last year of studies in Computer Sciences at the Cegep de Thetford. I'm studying since 2018 and I have one complete semester left until I can obtain my diploma. I have many possibilities once I am done Cegep. I can either continue my studies at the University of Laval or I could go straight to workforce once I am done. I will have to choose what to do soon, as I must make up my mind if I apply to the University or not.

Choice 1 : Go to University.

Go to University.

I apply at the University of Laval and get accepted in my program. I will have to study for 2 years since I took the DEC-BAC option to save myself a year of studies. I have to move to Quebec to be closer to the campus. I can't travel from Thetford Mines to Quebec every day as I would always have traffic and the ride is too long to do every day. I must make one critical decision, will I take a dorm or find myself an apartment? I'm already in an apartment and wouldn't want to have to share my space with others, but it could also be very costly for me to have an apartment alone in a city.

Find a Job.

I decided that I wouldn't go to university and would instead to straight to the workforce to find myself a job and start making some money. There are many jobs available for people who studied in Computer Sciences. I could go into computer support, programming, computer/server maintenance, web designing or even game designing. I know I wouldn't like server maintenance or web designing. I would have to go into something like programming or game designing.

Going to University in a Dorm.

I decide to go to university by choosing to have a dorm. Big regrets! I end up with roommates that do not clean up after themselves and always have friends to party over. I cannot study well and end up spending most of my study time in the library. After the first semester I choose to change dorm and end up with other roommates that are like me, they study hard and clean up after themselves. I go on to graduate and find an amazing job.Not my favorite outcome but a good one nevertheless. Would you like to try again?

Going to University in an Appartement.

I end up going to university and choosing an apartment that is not too far but is a little expensive. Will I be able to afford it? (Rhetorical question) After being in university for a whole year, I have a lot of trouble paying the bills. I have dropped out of some classes to be able to have more time working at my part job. While not being enough, I decide to drop out of university and working at a minimum wage in a retail store. I'm very unhappy with this ending and end up not being able to find a new job, so I am stuck staying at the retail store where I don't enjoy the work. This ended up being the bad ending, try again?

Going into Programming.

I end up finding a job in programming. The job pays very well and I do well. But after some time I realise that something is missing and I can't quite get my fingers on it. Something is not right about this job and I don't enjoy it completely. I end up staying there for a couple of years until I realise that I don't actually like to program and I want to go into 3D animation and game designing. I enjoy video games and would rather find a new job. I quit my job and start looking for a new workplace.

Find a Job in Game Designing.

I find a job in game designing at Beenox in Quebec City and realise that I love the city and the job. I do super well and get promoted easily. I work on doing player models in video games and get to see them come to life in the game. My bosses love my work and I end up being head designer for the team. I enjoy my job and work with passion. It is the best choice I ever done! I end up working until my retirement and by then I have a good amount of money left to live a happy life. You chose the best ending!
