After I graduated from high school, I started to work as a janitor in a hospital as my student job after a pretty good job-interview. I loved a lot my job, and I had a lot of on the job training. But as a very well-paid job for students, I needed to make a choice.
Choice 1 : Keep working there full-time.
Choice 2 : Sign up in College of Nursing.

I kept working at the hospital full-time. But I was still living in my parent's home. They would ask me to pay a rent, or even to move out. They told me they would host me for free as long as I'm a student. Now that I worked full-time, I needed to make a choice.
Choice 1 : Returning to school
Choice 2 : Move out from my parent's house and paying my bills.
I started nursing at Cégep André-Laurendeau. It is a pretty interesting program but way too hard for me. Between homework, internship, French books to read, Biology lab and my part-time job, I had no more time to give myself a break, even to spend time with my girlfriend. I needed to make a choice, and change my field of study.
Choice 1 : Visiting a guidance counselor to help me find a new career
Choice 2 : Returning to my full time job and move out from my parent's house
As I moved out from my parent's house, I rented a little apartment near my job. But the bills still coming and coming, my "well-paid" job wasn't a big deal anymore. My life quality degraded physically and mentally, after bad decisions and bad decisions. I started doing drugs and gambling trying to pay those bills. I had no choices but to ask for help to my parents.
Choice 1 : Restart from the beginning
Write a choice here.
I started the new program I discovered with the guidance counselor. I really loved it, and wanted it to be my profession. Suddenly, I won $30 000 out a participation draw from my bank company. Surprised but really enjoying it, my friend sent me the advertising of my dream car, which was the exact price I won. However, my girlfriend told me to keep that money for a good cash down on a future house we could buy after school. The decision was hard to make.
Choice 1 : Buying my dream car.
Choice 2 : Keeping that money for a future house.
Now that I have my dream sport car, I am so proud of it and I love to take some ride with a couple of my friends. One night, we were on a ride and another driver challenged us on a race. And we did. At a high speed, a little deer crossed the road right in front of my car. I tried to avoid it, but we ended crashed in a tree. We died.
Choice 1 : Restart from the beginning
I completed my studies in prosthetic orthotics and me and my girlfriend bought a beautiful house with the money I won the year before. I worked in an orthopedic clinic near Montreal as a prosthetist with very good colleagues. We had 2 kids 2 years later and got married the years after. I retired at 60 years old within a happy life. Finally, we lived happy ever after.
Choice 1 : That story demonstrate how normal it is to change your field of study for another one and how every academic process is different.
