It was the beginning of my program and I knew that I wanted to do this job in my life. The problem was I did not know in which area I wanted to invest myself after my college. I knew at this point that I had to make an important choice. I have finished my police program with two choices in my mind.
Choice 1 : Be a detective sergeant for the SPVM.
Choice 2 : Be a police officer in a neighborhood station.
I have always loved action and that's one of the reasons that I decided to study to be a police officer. I always wanted to be an investigator for a big city because there will always be interesting work to do every day.
Choice 1 : Join the team of SPVM.
Working in a small city is much less demanding that the big cities. There will be less action event, but I could probably get the time off I want. I would like to work more in a big city like Montreal.
Choice 1 : Apply for a work with more action.
I am now a detective for the SPVM, and I am very happy. Today it is my first day of work, and I was repatriated with an elder who had experience. After a few hours we received two calls, and we were wondering which one to take.
Choice 1 : Go on a homicide call in a residential neighborhood.
Choice 2 : Go on a call for a child abduction.
I believe that the most favorable job for me would be to work as a detective for the SPVM. It's a demanding job, but it's perfect for me because I like diversity and action too much to be working in a small town.
Choice 1 : Be a detective sergeant for the SPVM.
My partner and I arrive at the scene, I was very nervous because I was going to see my first crime scene ever. There was other agents on the scene. We started by installing ribbons around the house, and we took care of keeping the premises safe. After a while, other detective shouts at me to come into the house to come to examine the scene and to find clues around the body. I was stressed about the idea, should I go or ask my experienced partner go to do this job?
Choice 1 : Go in to the house.
Choice 2 : Ask my partner to go.
I arrive on the scene and see a woman crying, and she was hysterical. So, I knew that she was the mother of the child in question. The first thing I need to do is gets information about the child so, I ask her relevant questions like a physical description and if she has any idea who might have abducted her child. She told me that it was her little girl Marie, that she was 9 years old and that she was wearing a pink dress. She told me also that her daughter was playing in the park when suddenly a man appeared and took her to his car at full speed. I was stressed about the situation and I did not know what to do. She was starting to yell at me and want to hit me.
Choice 1 : I try to calm her down for discussing.
It is the right choice to take because I have to prove that I am able to do this job and it would be frowned upon of me not to go there on my first day of work. So, when I entered I had the chance to observe a real crime scene and this was the kind of action that I wanted. At first, I noticed the body lying on the ground, it was an old man who had been shot with a pistol. I observed all the clues and I took notes and photos to complete my report.
Choice 1 : Share the information I collect with my partner.
I'm too stressed out to enter the house because I don't want to see a dead man today. I don't know if I'm ready for that. What should I do now? Do I stay outside to wait for my partner or I go back to the station to choose another call?
Choice 1 : Stay outside to wait for my partner.
Choice 2 : Go back to the station to choose another call.
My partner is inside. I didn't feel ready to enter in my first day of work and it is OK. When I wait outside, I have to look out on the ground if I can't find any clue. My main job is to take notes and watch the surroundings. I received the information that it could be that the neighbor could be a potential witness because he heard noises last night.
Choice 1 : Go to interrogate the witness.
This choice is good for me because I was too stressed for this event, but could be frowned upon by other police officers. I would try to ensure that this does not happen again and I will take the call that will be offered to me.
Choice 1 : Go on a call for a child abduction.
I must make her understand that I am with her to help her find her child and that I do my best to collect information to be able to launch a call for help to the media. She understands that it's not my fault that her child has disappeared and apologizes. She gives me other information that may advance the investigation.
Choice 1 : Transmits information to the media.
After each event, we make a report of our observations, so I disclose the information that I have with my partner, and he does the same. We have information that the suspect could be identified by the neighbor's video cameras. We still have to inform the family of the deceased, and we must give them the reason.
Choice 1 : Go to inform the family of the death.
After just a few minutes we got an anonymous call from someone who said they saw a man and a little girl enter her house in a strange way and the child was crying.
Choice 1 : Go to the address given to us.
I was stressed when I arrived, because I was going to make my first descent in life. There was already reinforcement installed all around the house and my partner and I were ready to enter the house. At that moment, I was panicking, but I had to do it to save the little girl. We entered by force, and we confirmed that it was the missing little girl. The man had a gun pointed at us. I told him to drop it off, but he wasn't listening to me. I have a critical choice to make quickly to save my life.
Choice 1 : Shoot with my tazer.
Choice 2 : Shoot with my gun.
I shoot with my tazer, but I was too stressful, so I missed the man. Then, he shot me with his gun and I'm dead. It was a bad decision.
Choice 1 : In the beginning.
After having shot the man correctly, we decided to call the emergency, and we will proceed to his arrest when he is better. We gave the child to the mother and it all ended well.
Choice 1 : In the beginning.
We have tracked down the man's family members. We were able to reach his little girl. We informed her of his murder and she was devastated. She will inform the rest of the family later.
Choice 1 : Go to arrest the suspect.
The neighbor confided to me that he heard a noise last night but that he would never have thought of such a thing. He tells us that he has surveillance cameras and that he will send them to us.
Choice 1 : Share the information I collect with my partner.
Thanks to the neighbor's video camera, we were able to identify the suspect and arrest him for questioning. This is going well and he was accused. This was the first case I solved.
