I have to choose a university.

I have to decide in which university I want to go. The University of Laval is farther away but it can be a good experience of life. Also, it is harder to get into the University of Montreal but this would be my first choice. This indecision is maddening!

Choice 1 : Go to the University of Laval in intervention.

I can choose between different types of psychology. If I go in psychopathology, I will be treating people with serious mental health issue demonstrated with atypical and sometimes dangerous behaviour. With the cognitive psychology, I help people who have mental distress. I would help them regain normal thoughts.

Choice 2 : Cognitive psychology as my specialty.

Go to the University of Montreal in research.

I have to decide between doing a Ph.D or a Psy.D. A Ph.D will allow me to have more opportunity of work in the future, but it takes between five and seven years to complete a doctoral degree. Without it, I won't be able to practice without being under the supervision of someone else. This experience will be time-consuming and I will need to maintain straight A's. I can also do a Psy.D which is useful for a clinical position. Indeed, there's only a clinical exam but no research unlike the Ph.D.

Psychopathology as a specialty.

Taking a position as a psychologist to help people was my dream, but unfortunately things didn't go well. This new patient wasn't happy with his treatment and asked to be transferred to another psychologist. He began to be aggressive, and I was confused on what was needed in this type of situation. He had some bias that would be difficult to change especially in this situation.

Choice 1 : I stay and help the patient as much as I could.

Choice 2 : I resign from this case.

I choose to do Ph.D.

I began doing some homework before finishing my research, but when I went in my room to get my computer. I realized something was wrong.

Choice 1 : Someone stole my research.

I choose to do a Psy.D.

After my first semester in university in this program, I am unsure about my future. Indeed, I don't really want to study for the next couple of years, but I know that it is necessary if I want to have a decent life.

I stay and help the patient as much as I could.

I continued working on this difficult patient and tried doing everything to help him. Unfortunately, he drained all the energy out of me. I did a depression which almost resulted in my suicide.

Cognitive psychology as my specialty.

At the end of my studies, I got a lot of offers for interviews, but I struggled a lot in university and I can't imagine being a trainee. I have decided to put aside everyone's opinion and concentrate on myself. I wasn't fulfilled in this field of study. It brought me more anxiety than anything else. Therefore, I am going to apply in Criminology next year.

I decided to transfer this case to another psychologist because it began to have bad effect on myself. This complicated case was demanding all of my time and energy which isn't good for my own mental health. Therefore, I decided to stop working with this difficult patient and take a leave of absence.

I can't find my research anywhere. I realized later that day that my computer had been hacked and all my work was gone. There is nothing left of my research. This is a big drawback.

I have to restart everything that I did for my research to get my Ph.D. There are no other options. I have to finish this important work before the end of the year if I want to become a psychologist. Unfortunately, I gave up before finishing because it was driving me crazy. I was consumed by this research and I succumbed to drugs.

I have to decide how to tell my teacher about this incident because this isn't fair. Indeed, all the work I put trough this document is gone. I hope he will be fair with me. I could do anything to become a psychologist.

I continued university and got some offers. Therefore, I could have on-the-job-training at a university or in a hospital.

I decided to abandon everything. I am now working in a supermarket as a full time job. Unfortunately, this is a dead-end job, but I don't have any other choice for the moment. Maybe, I will go back to school, but not for the moment.

I lost all my research overnight. I don't have any other choice than starting everything over and hope to finish in time. I can't blame anyone else for this incident because this was my responsibility to make sure my research was always saved on my computer. I got sucked up in my work, but I didn't have enough time to finish everything. Therefore, I didn't graduate.

Work in a hospital.

I decided to become a trainee in a hospital because I thought that the experience would be amazing. I had a good wage and this place has a great office politics. I loved working every day in this place, but I am thinking of retiring.

I am unhappy in this place and I have to take a leave of absence for personal reason. I think I will resign to prioritize my own happiness.

I love my job and this allow me to help people in need. I want to continue working without having a strict schedule and have fewer hours. I want to concentrate on other things than work without necessarily retiring.

He sexually harasses me.

When I met my teacher, everything was fine until he began flirting with me. I tried to deter him from touching me, but he was acting like a perpetrator. I tried to warn him about his misconduct, but he wouldn't understand. I had to fill a sexual harassment complaint, but no one would believe me. Finally, I had to drop my complaint because it was doing more wrong on me than him. I decided to quit school because I couldn't face him.

I made some threats to my teacher because he wouldn't allow me to take more time for my research. He was ingrained in his decision. I had the audacity to question him on his assets and therefore I was able to bribe him. But, the next day, the police was waiting for me. This wasn't my best idea.

All of my years working as a psychologist brought some advantages in life. It was drudgery but at sixty years old, I have a pension and my mortgage is paid. The drive of work was becoming too much for a person of my age. Therefore, everything that I set aside was worth it. For the rest of my life, I can concentrate on the things that I love like my family and do some activities that I couldn't do while working full time.
