One Girl Two Different Life

The Medical Field a Dream Come True.

It was January 2021, I had survived to the worst and most demanding session I had ever gone through. The fall session of 2020 was in fact quite the free for all and getting good grades was excruciatingly hard. The late-night study sessions and the extra early mornings were part of the schedule. I was really stressed throughout the whole session because my R code was barely enough to get me into university in any health-related programme. For as long as I could remember working in the medical field had always been my dream, but during that particular session I was feeling like it was slowly slipping away. Fortunately, when I got my R code the countless sleepless nights were now making sense, all those uncountable hours of studying had paid off. Fast-forward to the end of March, I have just received my university admission proposition. I have been accepted in two different programmes in two different universities. Now the choice is up to me.

Choice 1 : Physiotherapy in Sherbrooke

Choice 2 : Medicine in Ottawa

admission

Future physiotherapist.

Now that I have chosen to pursue physiotherapy at the University of Sherbrooke I need to fin a place to stay during the next four years because Sherbrooke is a two and a half hours away from home.In the past years, I have worked a part-time job during the school year and full time during the summer, as a result I have saved up a nice amount of money. I had planned on using that money to travel or to maybe buy a new car, but in my search for an apartment I realized that living on your own can be quite expensive. The rent for any apartment close to the University are far from being cheep and what is bothering me with having to live in an apartment is that you pay every month for something that is not going to be yours in the end. Therefore, I had an idea, I could use the money I have saved up as a down payment for a house and then get roommates to live with me.

Choice 1 : Buy a house

Choice 2 : Rent an apartment

University of Sherbrooke

Doctor in a Hospital Close to You.

During my last year of medical school I have to choose a specialty. I can not bring myself to choose between psychiatric and paediatric.

Choice 1 : psychiatric

Choice 2 : pediatric

Hospital

Cinnamon Street.

Apparently I just bought a house.Isn't impressive for such a young adult.(rhetorical question) On cinnamon street, it was love at first sight. I made an offer on the house 15 minutes after I visited it.I live in it with two of my best friend as roommates, this way I can easily pay for the mortgage. During the school year it is the perfect study spot, but when the summer come I put the house to rent on air BnB because my friend and I all go back to our hometown for the summer months. This summer I got a particular offer. My cousin that owns a physiotherapy clinic in Ontario heard I was studying to become one and offered me a summer job with her. However, if I take the job I am going to have to quit my actual summer job that I love.

Choice 1 : Take the job

Choice 2 : Stay in Quebec

The house

Nutmeg Street.

I found an apartment close to the university. After four years, I was still living there. Over the years I ranked up a generous amount of debt, between my student lone, my credit cards and the rent to pay every month I have my hand pretty full. The only person who can help me to get out of all those debts is my dad, but I don't really want to ask him.

Choice 1 : Ask dad anyway

Choice 2 : Try to find a solution on my own

The apartment

I packed up and left.

I took the job and it was the best decision I have ever made. During my four years in university I worked at Audrey's aquatic therapy and Rehab every summer. I took on a lot of experience during those summers. Therefore, I was always at the top of my class. For a graduation present my cousin offered me take on shares into her clinic. She had wanted to expand her clinic for a while now. She told me that she knew since the first summer that I worked for her that she wanted me as a partner. I gladly accepted. Now I live in Ontario and have a nice little family. I kept the house on cinnamon street and I rent it to student every year since I left.

Choice 1 : Could not have asked for more

Ontario sign

I stayed.

I stayed behind. I could not bring myself to leave my job at the summer camp. I regretted it all my life.

Choice 1 : wrong choice

Quebec

A phone call away from being debt free.

I called my dad and told him about my financial problems. I could hear the disappointment in his voice. I asked him for the money anyway. He transferred me the money right away and I paid all of my debts. Unfortunately, after that, I became the disappointment of the family even thought I paid back every penny to my dad. At one point I could not stand the humiliation anymore, so I stopped showing up to family event. I now live a miserable life without any family, and I am a workaholic. Let's just say it is not the life I had pictured.

At that moment, a sketchy guy just like you see in movies started to whisper in my hear that he had a solution to all of my problems. As desperate as I was I followed him outside to talk about this mysterious solution. Outside he told me he would pay all of my debts the only condition was that I had to sleep with him once.

I look away and whisper an inaudible " okay, fine I will do it". At that moment I lost the last bit of dignity I had left. I went dark and twisty and one day I just could not take it anymore, so I took my life away.
