The beginning of University.

It was the beginning of the rest of my life. I was accepted in the International Studies program at the University of Montreal. Wanting to make a good living, I had to do everything in order to become a diplomat. I had to decide whether to work hard or be a lazy student.

Choice 1 : Worked hard.

I had to make a plan. In the first place, I had to develop time management. I forced myself to have a minimum of two hours of study per day. My time with my friends was put aside because, in my head, if my friends were not serious in school, getting closer to them wasn't worth it. Though, many months were passing by, and I was starting to feel lonely. I felt myself removing from activities frequently and staying in my room all day. I had good grades but wasn’t social enough. I had to find a way to feel less lonely.

Choice 3 : Stayed lonely all year long.

Got lazy while working.

I did my work at the last minute and stayed on Instagram all day long. I felt like it was going to be easy, so I didn’t work hard. To put it differently, I thought that I clearly understood my history, geography and economy classes. But, after some weeks, my grades in those classes were maddening me. I started thinking that I didn’t review my notes thoroughly and wasn’t asking enough questions. I thought that I needed help to save my first semester because I barely passed my classes. What was I to do?

Choice 1 : Had tutors help me save the semester.

Choice 2 : Tried to pass the classes without consulting anyone.

Choice 3 : Canceled classes in order to take a semester off.

Partied with friends whenever I felt like it.

My loneliness was killing me and I wanted to go out more. I started calling my friends to have a night out even though I had assignments to give to my teachers. I had to use my partying time efficiently.

Choice 3 : Had an unforgettable experience at a party.

I tried to be responsible. I decided to call my friends and scheduled activities at least a week in advance so that they could make time for us and I could be a good student. Certain obstacles did not help me be present in my friends’ life.

Choice 3 : Met the unexpected.

Stayed lonely all year long.

I decided that friendship was out of style and never try to build new ones. I started talking to myself every day, many hours a day. I was laughing at my own jokes and watching YouTube videos daily. My family had a meeting with me, and they told me that my situation was troubling. What could I do to reassure them?

Choice 1 : Consulted a psychologist.

Choice 2 : Created friendship with classmates.

Choice 3 : Found a minimal wage job.

Had tutors help me save the semester.

I decided to find students who excel in those classes and who could help me reach amazing grades. I learned to be more structured in my schedule. I also managed to take care of assignment methodically.

Choice 3 : Found out my tutor had a horrible past.

I thought that being fully independent meant to keep my problems to myself. I didn’t tell anyone that I was having doubt about my mental capacity. I tried to stay the more optimistic possible by telling people that everything was going well. This had its own consequences in my life journey.

Choice 3 : Delivered speeches.

Canceled classes in order to take a semester off.

When I saw my grades, I took some minutes to reflect on these past months. I realized that I needed to be thoughtful while making decisions. After a cursory reflection, I started panicking. I thought I had become more rational. Sadly, I wasn't succeeding enough. With months passing by, I decided to take a semester off.

Choice 1 : Worked full time at a dead-end job.

Choice 2 : Volunteered abroad.

Choice 3 : Got pregnant.

Learned new skills.

While partying, I developed new social skills that I could use in diplomacy. With those skills, I was able to be a good diplomat. I had to wait for many years before working in the career I chose, and it was important that I realized that retirement will one day come. I understood the importance of setting aside money so that I could have a comfortable retirement. I already had a saving account for university and I had plan to do many saving plans in the future. I hoped that I would not have to deal with the drive of work too often. I felt like it could seriously be damaging for my mental health. Retiring is maybe in a lot of decades but I had often thought about what are the best financial moves that could set me up for a comfortable life and... death!

Became a master at partying.

I went to many parties every month. I drank a lot and I felt like I was having the best time of my life. So, I put my happiness first and stop going to school. I never came back to the University of Montreal. Also, I was able to develop a passion of mine that was making money by working with brands on Instagram.

Had an unforgettable experience at a party.

I have a friend who was sexually harassed by a guy while we were partying. She felt uncomfortable with his consistent flirtation. He wasn't attractive nor age appropriate. She wasn't responding to him nor was she smiling. As a recipient of his flirt, she found it hard to stay calm. I knew that she wasn’t the type to want to make a scene. So, I decided to save her this trouble by using the tricks that I had learned in my gym classes back in college. He fell on his back and got away from us quickly. She never saw him again but sometimes she wonders if another woman is to be a victim of his misconduct. She wonders if one day, he could go too far and become a perpetrator. I learned from this experience and enrolled in Police School because I thought that it would be incredible if I could help as many people as I can.

Felt frustrated.

I quickly felt my frustration rising because everybody was unable to find time to meet me. They were putting distance between us even though I was the only one still in school. We had arguments, and I was obligated to put a stop in our friendship.

Remembered that I didn’t have friends.

I realized that the people that I used to talk to have nothing in common with me anymore. Then, I decided that I should find a job to keep me occupy. While I was searching for a job, I saw that there was a dry cleaner who needed a cashier. I applied via Indeed for the vacant position. I was hired after I had passed my interview. I don't think that they did a background check on me. I think that the only benefit, after the salary, is that I was able to talk to people. This helped me feel less lonely. I realized that after some time, the discomfort that I felt with English had disappeared because I was practicing a lot.

Met the unexpected.

One day, we were able to meet and have some quality time together. I went to a party with my friends and met the love of my life. In fact, I felt in love with the mixes of a DJ in particular. I was unable to stop listening to his mixes ever since the day he walked into my life.

Consulted a psychologist.

I consulted many psychologists that gave me tips on how to talk to new people. I found that they helped me a lot, so I decided that I wanted to pursue this career for the rest of my life. After many years studying this field, I had to quit because I didn’t know how to deal with people’s emotions and I had to go back to the International Studies program.

Created friendship with classmates.

I started to work on projects with classmates and was able to make them laugh. They scheduled activities with me. I felt rejuvenated and was able to keep my focus on my studies. Furthermore, their presence truly helped me reach my goal of becoming a diplomat because I felt supported all over again.

Found a minimal wage job.

Because of my lack of social skills, I worked at a dry cleaner as a cashier. When I first started, I had an OJT. The manager showed me how to pack clothing. As a trainee, I also learned the different ways one could pay, how to check stains on newly clean clothes and how to classify clothes per command. When I was in training, I learned the ins-and-outs of dry cleaning. Furthermore, my employer wasn't bias in any shape or form because he truly appreciated everyone who were putting in the work. He believed in making his employees comfortable in order for them to do work perfectly. He, sometimes, gave us bonus as a reward for our work. As a matter of fact, my wage had increased in months. However, the biggest drawback of this job was how far away it was from my house. It took me an hour and a half to go there and come back home, and I always worked eight hours a day. I talked with costumers and was able to upgrade my social skills.

Tried teaching.

My tutors opened my eyes to new perspectives. I changed my major and went into teaching because of a tutor who was extremely patient with me. I discover teaching in another way because I was able to understand how much impact a teacher can have on a student. Also, I became aware of the different methods of teaching.

Took the course a second time.

Even with the help of a tutor I failed miserably because I wasn’t putting all my attention in my studies. I had to take the course a second time and disappointed my parents. They told me that if I really wanted something I had to want to succeed and that it wasn’t the case in this situation.

Found out my tutor had a horrible past.

When I went in the library, I realized that my tutor was my bully in High School. She felt that I wasn't cool enough, smiling enough or worthy of peace. She told many lies to my friends and even started rumors about me in High School. Even though I didn't see her often, she still found a way to undermine me by making remarks about me to others. My teacher had asked me if I wanted to report her but I didn’t want to cause drama. So, I told her that it wasn’t that bad and that I was going to find a way to stop her. Many weeks had past, and I never saw her again and the bullying stop. In the library, I asked her why she stopped showing to school. I wasn't able to hinder my true feeling from showing. I also asked her what was her real problem. She was surprised and fail to give me a good reasoning. After some minutes, she told me that she was having problems at home and that I had been an easy target because I wasn’t responding to her. Unfortunately, I didn’t stay with this tutor and failed the semester.

Did illegal activities.

I started taking drugs to calm my anxiety and found myself building friendships with the wrong people. I got corrupted. The main reason why citizens are living outside of their country is because of the corruption happening in it. I had to fly to a small country call Haiti to start my illegal activities. Many times, the government of this country received bribes in exchange for their silence. I started paying them. In this country, lots of mineral wealth are being taken by illegal organizations like mine. I worked in the mineral field and built my wealth from it.

Earned internships in diplomacy.

After passing through this experience, I did multiple internships over the semesters. I had to learn the ropes about capitalization, globalization, politics and foreign policy. As an intern, I took care of many cases for many weeks. Those weeks were on-the-job-training because they helped me understand the way diplomats work in order to be effective. I was paid for my amazing work. Fortunately, this experience came in handy because it made me understand why this career was so important for a nation. Being an intern wasn't a test drive because, I was fully committed to this field.

Delivered speeches.

Struggling as an adult became a subject of research for me. I decided to use this experience as a way to coach other struggling adult. I became a motivation speaker and earn millions by presenting speeches and writing books.

Worked full time at a dead-end job.

I started to work full-time at a dry cleaner. I felt some sort of alienation at this job but I wasn’t able to find a solution about school. I repeated the same things to every client every week with a force smile on my face and I felt extremely powerless. I often asked myself how could people find contentment working 9-5 just to stay alive. I was wondering where did they find their satisfaction? At the same time, I felt that if I didn't make the choice to change program, I would certainly lack motivation in school. Sadly, I never found my motivation and worked full time at this job for the rest of my life.

Volunteered abroad.

I had never thought about volunteering abroad because I was deeply afraid of dealing with the disadvantages of it. I, sometimes, heard stories about volunteers getting kidnapped, or dying while trying to help in foreign countries. One day, I had decided to go to Brazil to volunteer. I loved it even though I knew that I needed to be aware of the non-existent wage. Also, I did in-depth research before going abroad. Thankfully, I could use this experience in my career as a diplomat to help myself earn a premium wage. I was able to develop communication skills.

Got pregnant.

I had a relationship while being a student and became a mother to quintuplets. I decided to open a daycare and took as many children as I could. I never got back to the International Studies program because I felt like being a diplomat meant that I wouldn’t see my children often.
