I've started the bachelor of arts in psychology for two months now. My goal is to be a clinical psychologist. To enter the master, I need to get straight A's because they only choose the best. It's stressful, but when you really want something, you can always achieve it. First, to get a foot in the door, I need to associate with a teacher so that I have someone who will recommend me when I apply for the master in the end of my bachelor. I hesitate with two teachers : Adam Johnson, whose specialization is humanistic approach and is really cute in fact or Gabriella Rodriguez whose specialization is psycho dynamic and behavioral approach.
Choice 1 : Adam Johnson
Choice 2 : Gabriella Rodriguez
My choice has been made, Adam Johnson will be my guide within those three years. I know I have to be thoughtful with him, so I can get his attention. I just don't know how to make the first move. My first idea was to go to him and kind of improvise, show him the drive of work I have about this and let him know that I want him to be my guide. My second idea was to go to him well-prepared, give him my essay on the humanistic approach so that he can feel my interest and wait for him to tell me what he thinks. I still hesitate.
Choice 1 : My first idea
Choice 2 : My second idea
He was so glad I came up to him. He told me that it's been such a longtime since he had found a trainee that natural. Looks like my improvisation was the best choice after all. He asked me to be his associate on his research, that's why he said trainee. I couldn't be happier. It's been now the fifth time we met for his research. He always tells me how great my work is, but today there was something more. While I was reading something I wrote, he told me, "I never seen someone as pretty as you." I'm not sure if it was just innocent flirtation, but I think it could be normal, he's really cute, and we're both adults, maybe it's normal to develop a small attraction even if I'm his student. The worst scenario would be if he had some intentions when he said that. Should I just thank him and continue like nothing happened or I should give him a word of what I think?
Choice 1 : Thank him and continue reading like nothing happened
Choice 2 : Tell him what I think of his compliment
I thanked him and everything was normal for the rest of the meeting, except he was looking at me a different way. The next day in his class, he talked about the psycho sexual development, the theory of Sigmund Freud. After his class, he told him to stay just a few minutes more. He told me that psycho sexual development would be our next subject of research and that we would test some theories, especially the sexual sublimation. I was blow minded, I didn't want to misconduct by telling him what I thought of this, by dread of losing him and the good reference I'm planning to have. Was he kidding me? Maybe I should accept and see how it goes. Maybe it's not what I think... I feel like I'm getting sucked up in something I didn't sign for.
Choice 1 : Tell him I can't wait to see what he have in mind
Choice 2 : Getting the hell out of here
After I told him I was glad to start this new research with him, he kissed me. I pushed him away and tried to leave his class, but he grabbed my hand and told me he was so sorry, that he just couldn't resist. I told him I can't work with him anymore. He let me go. When I arrived home I received a call, it was him. He said, "I know you want me as much as I want you. I'll make you a surprise." I hang-up the phone. This is sexual harassment. I'm a recipient of this in my bachelor. This is unacceptable, I should tell the director of the university.
Choice 1 : Go see the director
Choice 2 : Go to the police station
After confess about what happened, turns out I wasn't the first student Adam tried to corrupt on the wrong side. He lost his job. One week later, Gabriella Rodriguez offered me to work with her on the recent research made on the behavioral approach. Turns out everything is fine for me!
Choice 1 : Start again
This teacher is just like me. We talked for hours of ourselves and what we could do together. I couldn't get a better teacher. I told her that my challenge will be time management, and she told me that more often than not, this problem is solved by the end of the first semester. She asked me if I prefer work on the psycho dynamic or behavioral approach. I don't know.
Choice 1 : The psycho dynamic is great!
Choice 2 : Behavioral approach is for me.
I arrived well-prepared, ready to give the speech of my life. He let me talk and took my essay. He looked at me and told me, "I only work with original students. You just gave me what everyone gives me. I'm sure you have great potential, but I don't think I'm the teacher you need. My methods aren't traditional... Thank you." Well, crap. He made me feel like I just gave him the most maddening speech he ever heard. I wonder what he meant by, "My methods aren't traditional...".
Choice 1 : Start again
I told him that I'm not sure it is appropriate for a teacher to flirt with his student, if what he did was some kind of flirtation. His answer was, "Well, if a small compliment like this make you feel uncomfortable, we shouldn't work together. I'm sorry." After all, maybe it's better this way. I'm not worried, I'm sure I will find a good teacher.
Choice 1 : Start again
I told him that I wasn't up to it and I left. Did he really think that I would have sex with him? I did the right thing with this retirement. On my way to Gabriella Rodriguez!
Choice 1 : Start again
I made a good choice! The psycho dynamic approach is so interesting. I'm sure Gabriella will convince me to study this approach in my third year, even if I really love the humanistic one.
Choice 1 : Start again
I'm so glad I chose this one! I fell in love. I surely be studying the behavioral approach within my third year.
