Life as a college student.

As a new college student, I had the choice between taking college seriously or doing the bare minimum to pass all of my classes. I could either prioritize my homework and get straight A's or prioritize my social life and get average grades.

Choice 1 : I decided to prioritize my homework.

Choice 2 : I decided to prioritize my social life.

I decided to prioritize my homework.

I decided to put my hobbies aside and started prioritizing my homework. I wanted to get straight A's in all of my classes, so I needed to do my homework thoroughly. At that point, I was very thoughtful about my future and needed to do everything in order to pull off being an accountant. I decided I would skip my soccer games to work harder on what could lead the way to my future job. Some of my friends were disappointed that they couldn't spend much time with me anymore and ended up cutting me out of their lives. I had to decide between studying at John Molson School of Business, McGill University or HEC Montreal.

Choice 1 : I decided to study at John Molson School of Business.

Choice 2 : I decided to study at McGill University.

Choice 3 : I decided to study at HEC Montreal.

I decided to prioritize my social life.

As I started college, I decided to put my social life as my main priority. I made new friends in my classes and continued spending time with my best friends from high school. I spent most nights either playing soccer with my team or spending time with friends. At one point, one of my friends from high school, Daniel, made a move on my girlfriend. I couldn't believe that one of my best friends would betray me like that. He definitely couldn't be my friend anymore. In the meantime, my grades were average in almost all of my classes, which affected my admission at university. I had to make a choice between continuing this way and go at UQAM or not going to university and get a full-time job.

Choice 1 : I decided to study at UQAM.

Choice 2 : I decided to not go at university and get a full-time job.

I decided to study at UQAM.

I knew this wasn't the university I necessarily wanted to study at but I had to suffer the consequences for not making school a priority whilst I was in college. Some of my friends also studied at UQAM because they had the same mindset as me whilst they were in college. I learned from my mistakes and studied every night to get the best grades I could. I stood out from the other students because I had a genuine passion for accounting. In the end, I received my degree and was prepared for my first real job. I also wanted to travel because I was still in the best years of my life and wanted to make the most out of them. I had to make a choice between applying for a job at a small company or volunteering abroad.

Choice 1 : I decided to apply for a job at a small company.

Choice 2 : I decided to go volunteer abroad.

I decided to not go at university and get a full-time job.

I got hired at Walmart to sell electronics. I received a modest wage which allowed me to pay my bills and make some investments. I could see my friends more often because I didn't have to study or do homework after my shifts were over. My girlfriend left me because she thought I was working a dead-end job and had no ambition in life. I had to make a choice between going back to school to get a better job in the future or continuing to work dead-end jobs.

Choice 1 : I decided to go back to school.

Choice 2 : I decided to continue working dead-end jobs.

I decided to study at John Molson School of Business.

I decided to study at John Molson School of Business because it is an excellent school for future accountants. It also gave native French speakers like me the opportunity to learn in English. I struggled in the first semester because I found it complicated to understand everything my teachers were teaching me in your Accounting and Marketing classes. I had a lot of anxiety. I decided to hire somebody to help me out with my English. After three tough years, I finally completed my degree and was perfectly fluent in English. I wanted to work abroad. I had to make a choice between working in Singapore, in the Bahamas or in Bolivia.

Choice 1 : I decided to work in Singapore.

Choice 2 : I decided to work in the Bahamas.

Choice 3 : I decided to work in Bolivia.

I decided to study at McGill University.

Even though McGill University isn't really famous for its Accounting classes, I decided to study there because it is a renowned university. I also wasn't definitely convinced I wanted to be an accountant yet. None of my friends were going to McGill, so it happened that I felt quite lonely at times. After three years of exhausting work, I finally completed my degree and was ready to get my first real job. I was also interested in getting a degree in Commerce, so that I could get a better expertise in business. I had to make a choice between getting a degree in Commerce or getting hired by the Government of Quebec.

Choice 1 : I decided to get a degree in Economics.

Choice 2 : I decided to work for the Government of Quebec.

I decided to study at HEC Montreal.

I decided to study at HEC Montreal because most of my friends also studied there and because it is a great school for people who study in the Accounting program. I went drinking at the bar with my friends twice a week, but I still managed to stay focused on my school work. After three years, I decided I wanted to continue studying to get a Master's degree. In the meantime, my girlfriend cheated on me, so I had to break up with her. It definitely distracted me from studying, but I still managed to complete my degree in the end. Whilst I was studying at university, I discovered a passion for making rap instrumentals. I had the choice between getting an accounting job at a massive organization, getting a job in human resources at my best friend's family business or pursuing my career as a rap producer.

Choice 3 : I decided to pursue my career as a rap producer.

I decided to work in Singapore.

I decided I wanted to work in Singapore because it is one of the best countries in terms of quality of life. I also thought I could make a good income there. I got hired in one of the country's biggest accounting firms. Even though I had a foot in the door, I experienced an issue getting my work visa. After almost three months, I finally got my hands on my work permit and went to Singapore. I lived in Singapore for almost twenty years before coming back to Canada because I missed my family.

I decided to work in the Bahamas.

I decided I wanted to work in the Bahamas because I had always appreciated the Latin culture and wanted to live close to the beach. I saw an opportunity to work as an accountant for the Bahamian government, so I applied for the job and ended up getting hired. I rented an apartment in the suburbs of Nassau to put aside some money, so I could afford a house near the beach. After five years, I finally purchased my house. I ended up marrying a Bahamian resident and having two kids. In the end, I finished paying my mortgage with the money I set aside during my career and got to enjoy the Bahamian lifestyle.

I decided to go back to school.

I decided to go back to school because I felt like it was the best way for me to secure a good job. Whilst I was completing my degree, I managed to get an internship at one of the most successful accounting firms in the province. My first week as an intern did not fail to overwhelm me. Before anything else, the firm's management paired me with one of their senior employees to help me learn. His name was John. An experienced employee like John definitely came in handy as I tried to learn the ropes of the job. In the following weeks, he showed me how to produce a balance sheet with the firm's specific policies. I was really excited to learn how to perform this task in a professional environment. It was definitely more intriguing than the way I used to do it in university.

I decided to continue working dead-end jobs.

I decided to quit Walmart and searched for another job. I eventually got hired by Target. I worked with hundreds of people, so I guessed it was normal to feel like I didn't have much power. In other words, I felt alienated by the organization. My boss also made me work overtime a lot, which contributed to the lack of contentment I had been feeling. I had had enough of this feeling, so I decided to launch my own small business where I sold sports items. It was a success. It made me feel a lot happier about myself and it made me bring in a stable revenue to provide for my family. Ultimately, my family business helped me collect enough money to retire and travel all around the world.

I decided to apply for a job at a small company.

As I got out of school, I found an advertisement online saying a small company was hiring new accountants. I decided to apply and got invited to a job interview. When I got to their office, they asked me multiple questions about my experience in business. They asked me if I had any experience in accounting, marketing or management. They also explained to me the company's vision. I understood they wanted to promote a new product on the market that would cause their sales to go up by a lot, which would equally make their profits go up. They also wanted to use the money invested by shareholders to improve their branding and their advertising. I waited for about two weeks and finally received a call back. They decided to hire me because they thought I showed them I was extremely passionate about the job.

I decided to go volunteer abroad.

I decided to go to Nicaragua to volunteer for two years. It was my first time volunteering abroad. I helped the locals to restore schools and even helped them to build new ones. I stayed in the city of Corinto. The most enjoyable thing about living in such a small city was the connection with the locals. It really helped me to understand their culture and their reality. Even though I was slightly skeptical about volunteering abroad in the beginning, I would definitely relive this invaluable experience if I could. I ended up going back to Canada and got myself a job as an accountant.

I decided to get a degree in Economics.

I thought it would look better on my resume if I had more than just an Accounting degree, so I went back to school to complete a degree in Economics. I wanted to be able to understand the various aspects of business better. In my classes, I learned a lot about investments and other ways to manage your money properly. It made me want to purchase Tesla stocks, so I could get into trading by myself. I also learned about other important things in my Economy classes like cash flow and different taxation methods. After another three years, I received my second degree. It helped me to create my own accounting business, which generated a lot of money.

I decided to work for the Government of Quebec.

I decided to go work for the government after I saw an advertisement online saying they were looking for accountants. Governments are sometimes criticized for being corrupt, and I once saw a form of corruption at the office I was working at. As I was walking in the office's hallway, I saw an unknown man give a suitcase full of money to one of my superiors. I was shocked by how much money was in there. There were millions of dollars at least. Their interaction made me oddly curious, so I had to listen to them. I just felt something wasn't right. After listening to them speak for about five minutes, I gathered enough information to work out that the man was bribing my superior to exercise his power in a wrongful manner. The story eventually got out to the media and my superior got fired. I continued working there.

I decided to get a job at a massive organization.

After getting my Master's degree, I had a lot of ambition and wanted to work for a massive organization. I applied to all of the organizations that were looking for accountants and finally got hired at one of them. I started my OJT with a colleague at my new job. Initially, I was excited to learn my new job's ins-and-outs and be paid while doing so. As someone who had recently graduated, it was genuinely exciting to be getting a fairly decent wage whilst learning some new skills and getting more experience. After a week, I started picking up on my colleague's bad habits at work. He was often late and didn't really care about his job. I felt like his negative attitude towards work would be a massive drawback for my training. As a trainee, it made my experience a lot more complicated because I was actually trying to gain a new set of skills. Ultimately, I was fairly disappointed with the training I received, but I continued working there and became an important an asset for the team.

I decided to pursue my career as a rap producer.

Whilst I was at university, I loved producing instrumentals in my free time. I posted most of my instrumentals on YouTube, and they would get recognition from my subscribers. Once, an influential artist wrote me an email because he wanted to purchase one of my instrumentals. The artist's name was Youngboy Never Broke Again. He wanted to compose a song on my instrumental and wanted me to produce it, so he could feature it on his upcoming album. I was a massive fan of his work, and I also knew it would help me get hired by other rappers. Additionally, he offered me five thousand dollars to produce the song. After that, I decided to be a full time rap producer, so I could continue to do what I enjoyed doing.

I decided to work in Bolivia.

I had always wanted to live in South America, so I applied immediately when I saw job openings for accountants in Bolivia. I eventually got hired and got a work visa to go work there. I knew Bolivia had problems with criminality, but I didn't really realize how bad it was until I experienced it myself. Once, I was driving to work when a car appeared to my left side and the person in the passenger's seat was holding a gun. He yelled to pull over, so I did because I didn't want to get shot and risk my life. They robbed me at gunpoint. I will never forget that morning. After that, I came back to Canada because I was anxious that it would happen again.

I decided to get a job in human resources at my best friend's family business.

My best friend's dad owned a family business and saw I had gotten a Master's degree in Accounting, so he thought I could be useful working in the HR department for his company. He offered me a temporary job for three months. I was in charge of hiring new employees to fill in vacant positions. It was a tough job because I had to meet many qualified candidates for the positions but I could only hire a few of them. I had to perform background checks for every candidate that I interviewed. After two months, my friend's dad got mad at me because I had been late for work three days in a row. He fired me from the job. It also affected the friendship I had with my best friend, because his dad also kept telling him lies about me. In the end, we started seeing each other less because it became awkward.
