A beginning always starts by an ending.

The journey to get your diploma has been long and hard but you finally made it! After a rough year in the Music program at Marie-Victorin College and a nicer two years and a half at Montmorency College, you are now ready to go further in life. For the past years, you have managed to pull off straight A's in almost all of your classes and you now have an idea of where you want to go to finish your scholarship. University is a huge decision to make but you are confident.

Choice 1 : Go to the New York Film Academy in Los Angeles.

Choice 2 : Go to McGill University in the Cinema Program.

Choice 3 : Go to UQAM in the Journalism program.

Choice 4 : You miss music and you want to make a name for yourself so you are not going to university and you leave home.

So, you have decided to head to California! Great! Since you were a little kid, you have always been a curious and adventurous person. Afraid of anything, you would have loved to travel more. However, your parents were always travelling by themselves. Of, course you have been to a few places like Mexico and Florida but it was not enough. During High School, you have been given the chance to travel a little more. Since these days, all you were thinking about was travelling again and again. This was an enormous opportunity and you were aware of it. However, there were some problems. It was an English-speaker university but you would be able to understand your classes anyway. You will have to live alone in Los Angeles, a city you don't know. You will have to leave your family, friends and, girlfriend. The biggest problem is money. You know that American universities are a lot more expensive than Canadian universities. You only see two options because your parents are not going to help you anyway.

Choice 1 : Look for a loan but you will be indebted for a long time.

Choice 2 : Find a dead-end job to pay university.

Go to McGill University in the Cinema Program.

Nice choice! McGill University is the 24th best university in the world. By going there, you make sure that you will have a good scholarship. Since you were in age to really appreciate what was playing on television, cinema has always been an art that you admire. You have worked in a movie theater during your years of high school and college. So, the Cinema program of McGill University, who is one of the best in Canada, was an easy choice. Your parents, with all their savings for your superior studies, are going to pay for your years of university. As the university is relatively close from your house, you can stay at home until the end of your bachelor. Now that all of this has been figured out, you have one last choice to make.

Choice 1 : Go in the movie production field.

Choice 2 : Go in the movie script writing field.

Go to UQAM in the Journalism program.

UQAM was the easiest choice. It is close to your house, it is easy for you to go there by the bus, the car or the subway. It is one of the best Journalism programs for a French-speaker university in all Quebec. Money, housing and language will never be a problem. When you were a child, you used to watch hockey games with your dad and sometimes your grandpa or your friends and each time, you were obsessed by how fast the sport journalist of RDS was commenting the game. You were thinking that he was a superhero to tell all the names of all the players so quickly. As you grew old, you wanted to do that for a living. In college, you had a photography course where you discovered a new passion. At the end of your collegian studies, you had been given the chance to do an international internship of journalism. You travelled to Africa and learned more about the job. After you came back, you already had a foot in the door due to all the contacts you had made. But now, you need to choose what type of journalist you want to be.

Choice 1 : Go in the written journalism field.

Choice 2 : Go in the photojournalism field.

You miss music and you want to make a name for yourself so you are not going to university and you leave home.

Music has always been a part of you. When you were little, you used to listen to Bon Jovi and Cat Stevens with your father during the little road trips you had with your family. During your fifth year of elementary school, you have been taking guitar classes with your dramatic arts teacher, who was also a musician. When you arrived in high school, that is where your musical knowledge increased and improved. During these five years, you learned a few different instruments, you learned a lot of musical theory and you played a lot of different styles. You started to listen to older music when you met your best friend and lost interest in new music. When you started your superior studies in classical music, you developed an interest in jazz music. You didn't finish your music studies thoroughly but you met a lot of professional musicians who helped you to come in handy if one day you want to make a career out of music. After two years of journalism studies, you miss music a lot and want to start again. Two ideas come in your mind.

Choice 1 : You leave all by yourself to start a career.

Choice 2 : You start a band with some friends.

Look for a loan but you will be indebted for a long time.

You decide to look for a loan. You take an appointment with the bank to talk to an adviser about your situation. You explain to him that you want to go study in California but for now you don't have enough money to pay your classes. After a little background check of your folder, the adviser offers you two choices. His purpose is only to help you achieve your dreams.

Choice 1 : A loan at higher cost with no interests.

Choice 2 : A loan at lower cost with high interests if it is not paid in time.

Find a dead-end job to pay university.

You arrive in California. The sun, the heat, the beaches...it is a dream coming true. You head to your new place, unpack a little and finally go out two hours later with an important task: you need to find a job. Your first idea is McDonald's. You go to the restaurant to give your curriculum vitae, and they tell you they want to give you an interview right away. During the interview, the boss tells you about the wage, the ins-and-outs, but he never mentions drawbacks so, all seems fine. He finally hired you. For your first two shifts, you are a trainee. During your on-the-job-training, you learn all there is to do with the good bias. After a few weeks, you realise that you are doing a lot of overtime and you don't have a lot of time for school so you are failing some classes. You don't know what to do anymore.

Choice 1 : Keep the job even though it is hard on your moral.

Choice 2 : Quit your job.

Go in the movie production field.

Your choice is made and you want to go in the movie production field. For the first weeks, you are motivated. The classes are interesting, you have some new friends and life is good. In the middle of the semester, you have a production project to do. You find the actors, a scriptwriter and a director and start the project. After a few days, you realise that your project is not going very well. At night, you are thinking about the situation and you find the problem: you are not good to give orders. It is at this moment that you realise that movie production is not something for you.

Choice 1 : Try again.

Go in the movie script writing field.

You decide that you are going to study in movie script writing. Because you always had an imagination without any limits, you start writing your own scripts beside of your classes. After a few weeks of school, you start thinking that you can do a great job without any professional training. You are more and more putting aside your classes to write movie scripts. You finally made a huge decision.

Choice 1 : Give up on writing movie scripts aside of classes and get concentrated on school.

Choice 2 : Give up on school and share your movie scripts with some big studios of production.

Go in the written journalism field.

Since when you learned how to write in elementary school, writing has always been something easy and as you grew old, it became a passion. You are also a good communicator. Words are not something abstract for you. Shyness is not one of your defaults. All these reasons are why written journalism is like a vocation for you. After your first semester at UQAM, you think you are good enough by yourself, so you try something.

Choice 1 : Go share your job with a big newspaper.

Choice 2 : Finish your studies at UQAM.

Go in the photojournalism field.

Photography was not always a part of your life, but you really think that a picture equals a thousand words. You had a photography class in college and since then, it has become a passion. You think that photojournalism is the best of two worlds. However, you realise after a few weeks that photography is nothing more than a hobby for you. You decide to drop out and change program.

Choice 1 : Capture the moment. Try again.

You leave all by yourself to start a career.

You need somewhere to start. You want to be a jazz trombone player, so there is only one place you can go: New Orleans. You pack your stuff in your car and after a three-days long road trip, you finally arrived. You find a little street band who need a trombone player and you start playing and living with them. They are doing drugs sometimes, so you start it too. After a huge overdose who nearly killed you, you decide that music and drugs are not a thing for you anymore. It makes your life a nightmare. You are now ready to head back home.

Choice 1 : Drugs are bad. Try again.

You start a band with some friends.

While you were studying music, you made yourself a lot of musician friends. You tell them about your crazy idea of starting a band, and they all agreed. You are all aware that, in the beginning, it will feel like you are volunteering by doing shows but it does not matter. You all have a lot of fun together. The months were passing by and your crew and you were getting impatient. Your shows were still not paid. Like all groups, a few months later, you got separate.

Choice 1 : No more friends. Try again.

A loan at higher cost with no interests.

This proposition is not the best but it is not the worst as well. For three years of university in California, you get a loan of $200 000 with no interests. You do your three years of school and get your diploma with good grades. When you come back home in Quebec, you still have a debt of $200 000 to refund. You don't find any job and you can't refund the money. Instead of getting back the loan, the bank take all of your goods and you end up homeless. You finally died alone in the streets of Montreal.

Choice 1 : That's just sad.

The adviser gives you a loan of $100 000 for your three years but it is $50 000 more per month of delay. Your first year in California is amazing. You still think that your loan is a great deal. As time goes by, you start stressing out a little. You don't want to be late with your refund. It is still a lot of money. During your last year of school, it is driving you crazy. You finally committed suicide in your apartment the night of the graduation ceremony.

Choice 1 : You could have died the day after the ceremony. Imagine the discomfort when it would have been your turn to come up on stage. Try again.

Keep the job even though it is hard on your moral.

You decide to keep your job at McDonald's. You work every day after school and during all weekends. You are making money but it is still not enough. After a whole year of school and work, you have enough money to pay the quarter of your expenses. You are not seeing the end of it. When you are alone in your apartment, you remember how was your life back then. Before university, your life was good. You start thinking about how much you miss your girlfriend and your family. In the middle of your third semester, you attack a teacher during a class. You are finally shut in a psychiatric hospital in California. You will never see those you love again.

Choice 1 : If you were a little less crazy, it would have been fine. But it was too much. Sorry. Try again.

Quit your job.

You know that you need a job to pay for your studies but you can't work anymore. Not in that restaurant or anywhere else. You miss home in Quebec, you miss your girlfriend and you miss poutine. You don't understand why the United States have so much good to offer, but they don't have any restaurants that serve poutine. You give up on your life in California and head back desperately to Quebec.

Choice 1 : Try again.

Give up on writing movie scripts aside of classes and get concentrated on school.

You stop writing scripts and putting aside your classes. You are still writing but it is for homework or projects. You improve your grades and make it to the end of your bachelor. You are proud of yourself. There is only one thing you regret. By stopping writing for fun, you lost all motivation and writing stories no longer is meaningful for you. You finish your life with a well-paid job but you are not having fun anymore. You are so sad that one day, you leave your family and you never come back again.

Choice 1 : What a jerk! Try again.

Give up on school and share your movie scripts with some big studios of production.

You really think you can make it to the big leagues. You know that the huge movie studios are beyond the province of Quebec, so you leave the country with your back pack and go to the United States of America. After some failures, you arrive at the capital of the movie, Hollywood, in California. You met a director that really like your writing in the first place. After a few weeks of work, he fires you. He tells that you will never be a big name in the industry and that you should forget about your dreams. On your way back home, your plane's engine absorbed a bird and the plane crashes. It would have been a nice movie script if you were still alive and breathing.

Choice 1 : You're dead. Once again. Sorry. Try again.

Go share your job with a big newspaper.

You think you don't need to study to get yourself a job in journalism. You think that contacts in the middle are the only thing you need. After a few interviews for job opportunities and a few rejections, you arrive at your friend' dad newspaper. You think that your chances are good. You talk with him, and he says that you have a good writing, you communicate well but you don't have any diploma, so he cannot hire you. You regret all of your choices you have made before this moment and you never approach a newspaper again. Life will be hard.

Choice 1 : NOT GOOD ENOUGH! Try again.

Finish your studies at UQAM.

You decide to finish your studies in written journalism at UQAM. Just like your grandma always tells you, hard work always pays off. You get the highest grades possible. You pull off straight A's each time you can. Everyone is proud of you. You graduate with a bachelor in journalism and six different jobs opportunities. You are one last choice away.

Choice 1 : Give all that up and change career.

Choice 2 : Choose a job.

You have six nice job opportunities but there is only one you truly want. You get your appointment booked at RDS. The day of your interview comes and you are ready. The one you are meeting is your youth hero, Pierre Houde. After a 30 minutes of talking, you are hired. Nothing in the world is more important at this moment. You got your dream job with your dream co-worker. You go back home to celebrate.

Choice 1 : Life is good.

Life is good.

You made it. After all your bad choices and problems over the years, you get your dream job. You are still with your girlfriend from high school. You start a family with her two years later. Money will never be a problem but it is not that important. You continue to travel but you are never alone anymore. Your kids go to great schools and make a life out of themselves. You are a proud father. You finally retired and bought a house in Florida where you spent the rest of your life happy with your soul sister. Life is good.
