I graduated from Montmorency College in Social Science. Now I have to choose a career to go to university. Which career should I choose?
Choice 1 : Bachelor's degree in Physical Education.
Choice 2 : Physiotherapist.
The Social Science program taught me a lot of things like democracy, geography, politics, math... But my favorite class was psychology. I learned many things related to the development of the individual. That's why I chose to work in schools. However, I have to make a choice. In which grade do I want to teach?
Choice 1 : Elementary school.
Choice 2 : High School.
Choice 3 : College.
I've always loved children! They have lots of energy and love to play. However, when I was in my internship I realized some drawbacks. Young children are not very mature and fight or cry for nothing. I feel like I am spending more time policing in my classroom rather than having fun. I always came home exhausted. So, what should I do? Do I continue with primary school or do I choose another grade?
Choice 1 : Elementary school.
Choice 2 : Choose another grade
I prefer high school, where the students quietly become more independent and are more active in sports activities. However, during the time of adolescence, more often than not, bullying or physical violence happens. In my class I have several immigrants and I have a very racist student. He doesn't stop undermining the other kids. Should I do something or not?
Choice 1 : I should!
Choice 2 : Nah, mind your own business.
Because of me, the student was brought to the principal's office and his parents were informed of the situation. Many teachers were aware of the problem, but they didn't want to get involved because they were afraid. Well-done!
Choice 1 : The end.
I decided to stay out of it and continue my classes as if I didn't hear his racist comments. One day, I heard on the news that a teenager had stolen a gun and walked into a Mosque. He had killed several people before killing himself with a bullet to the head. That teenager was my student... Following the incident I decided to leave my duties.
Choice 1 : The end.
Even with the smallest disadvantages, I decided to stay. I finally figured out all the ins-and-outs of the job. Besides, I'd already started making contacts at school. So, with a foot in the door, it will be easier for me to adapt. And maybe, in a few years, I will be able to choose my classes.
Choice 1 : The end.
I love sport and I want to stay in it and help other athletes. So, I would like to go to university in the physiotherapy program. However, I have to take some enriched courses before I can go. In order to get into the university program, I have to have done my math, science, bio So I would have to pass a few courses before I could go to university. Do I have to?
Choice 1 : Take a few more classes.
Choice 2 : Choose another career.
In search of a higher wage, I decided to take the enrichment courses. But considering that these are enrichment courses, and consequently more difficult, should I take less and do an extra year? Or should I take all of them, so I don't have to wait even longer.
Choice 1 : You're able to take them all.
Choice 2 : It's not a good idea takes any less
Well, I decided to take all of my classes, so I wouldn't have to wait any longer. I had to put aside my work and social life on hold to focus on my classes. The courses were extremely difficult. The teachers gave a lot of work in each of my classes, I wasn't able to be thoughtful. Even with all efforts, I failed two classes! I was very mad. Therefore, I wasn't admitted into my physiotherapy program.
Choice 1 : The end
I chose to do another year in college to make sure I would have straight A's in every class. Because I took fewer classes this semester, I was able to keep my job and social life, even though the teachers gave us millions of assignments. I've learned how to time management my day. As a result of my good grades and my work discipline, I have been admitted into my program!
Choice 1 : The end
After several internships, I finally chose to teach at the college. I wanted to specialize in a field and teach more mature students who were interested in learning. It was my first year of teaching the college, so they paired me up with an old teacher to help me organize my classes. At first, I was a little embarrassed, but he knew how to make me feel comfortable immediately. After a few weeks of classes, I now had the choice to continue my classes alone or to finish the session with his help.
Choice 1 : End the session alone.
Choice 2 : End the session with his help.
I decided to end the session on my own, because I felt I had enough self-confidence. So, I planned my class and taught it the way I did when he was there, and it went really well. I was very satisfied with my course and my activities. However, when the class was over one student asked to meet me in my office. He offered me a bribe, so I wouldn't have to come to my classes every week, but still pass the class. He briefly explained to me his school situation and the pressures of his parents. I felt a bit sorry for him, what should I do?
Choice 1 : Take the bribe.
Choice 2 : Help him, without taking the bribe.
I knew I shouldn't, but he seemed so desperate and the money he was offering me was interesting. So, I put aside my values and accepted the bribe. The student never showed up for class anymore, so I falsified his absences and gave him the passing grade. Of course, any secret ends up being discovered... Human Resources were notified of the bribe, and I was fired from every school board.
Choice 1 : End.
There was no way I was going to take the money, Instead I offered to help him. I brought him support and new ways of working, so he could pass all of his classes without cheating. At the end of the session, he thanked me for my advice and passed all of his classes with straight A's.
Choice 1 : End.
I was still feeling a little anxious about my class, so I asked him to accompany me until the end of the session. Everything was going great, I had finally become more comfortable in my role as a teacher. One Friday after my morning class, he asked me if I wanted to eat with him. I didn't have time to make lunch that day, so I gladly accepted his offer. We took his car to the little restaurant. The atmosphere had suddenly changed, he put his hand on my leg and I felt like he flirted with me. I was very uncomfortable, but I didn't want to hurt him. I didn't know what to do, I didn't want his advance, but I didn't know how to tell him. When I saw that we passed the restaurant and were heading somewhere else I panicked. I began to dread the following events. He stopped the car on a side street, and he leaned over to kiss me. I tried to push him away, but I couldn't. He told me to not act like I didn't want to, that after all it was my fault, I was looking for that. All I had to do was not wear such sexy leggings. That I was responsible for what was happening. I tried to deter him and tell him it was misconduct behavior. After long minutes of fighting, one of my students saw us and called the police. I've never been so grateful to a student before.
Choice 1 : End
