Final year of high school.

So here I am. My name is Charles-Alexandre. I have finally completed my five years of high school at Boisbriand College. The next step for me is a big decision; where will I be continuing my education. I have to chose which school I will be attending and which program I think would fit my future plans the best.

I am feeling a lot of stress at the moment because I cannot seem to perform at the same level I did when I was in high school. I used to be a straight-A student and now I do not have the grades to pass some of my classes. I am beginning to think that the program I have chosen is not for me.

Choice 1 : It is not the right path for me.

Mechanical Engineering.

After some reflection on my performance during my first year, I have decided to change programs and enter into the world of Mechanical Engineering. Although it is a challenging program, I find myself more engaged in the material that is being taught. As simple as this may sound, the fact that there are some types of steel that are more resistant to others is really cool to me. I am planning on completing this program in three years' time. But you never know, I might take an extra year to study a few different courses and grow my knowledge.

Heavy Machinery.

I believe that I have found my path. I now understand that I am a person who likes to use their hands to solve problems and that is why I am so engaged in this program. Solving engine problems of big trucks is vert intriguing as and fun as I get to see and learn new things. In less than three months I will be looking for a job that specializes in truck engines. I am still looking the right company to work for as there are many. I am not sure which one to chose.

After three years in the program, I was more sure than ever that I wanted to work in this field of study. Working with big tools like the MMT or the conventional tour was made for me. Between those years, I did some volunteering work for the school to create a big plane that could fly for more than two hours. This required a lot of time management as I combined my busy school schedule with a 20 hour/week work schedule. Now it's time for me to take a new decision.

My first day at this new job was some fun. It is great because I get along with the entire staff. We all share the same passion, to make sure that trucks perform at their best. At the end of the day. I will say, however, the long 9 hours shifts really drained my energy. Having said that, I do believe that this is the job for me and that I can make the adjustments necessary to make it work for me.

During my first day, my boss made sexual harassment comments towards which I really di not enjoy. Yes, I was working in the field that I like, but the income was not close to being the worth our labor We were pretty much working like slaves. At the end of that day, I decided that although that was my dream job, it was not worth the harassment or pay. I decided to return to school to study some more.

University is different from College because you have more work to do and less time to do it. But, I like the environment and I will make sure to complete my four years of study.

What to say about my first day? Well, it was magical. I like it so much that I can see myself moving up the ranks in this company for the rest of my life. Also, they told me that I was one of their best juniors.

Something dramatic, arrived at my job.

The 3rd March 2023, after just two months at my new job. I assisted at something that traumatized me. At eleven forty-five in the morning I saw my best friend get crushed by a motor that he was working on. He lost his leg and his arm. At this moment I realized that the office politics that concern the security of the worker was not the company's main concern, and for that reason, I decided to quit my job for good. A funny thing happened when I made that decision, two opportunities presented themselves to me.

After four years at University.

These were the best four years of my life. I made so many new friends. The fact that I spent a lot of my free time in partying was awesome but it slowed down the progress of a lot of my "should-be" priorities. But, I still got everything done. Tomorrow, I start my first real job in my field of study. I will go work for Bell Helicopter. They build and invent helicopters for commercial, particular, and for the military. I'm so excited.

Who would have thought! I liked this job so much that I invested a lot of time into it, and now, here I am, Vice President of the company. I moved up the ranks in record time and I must admit that all the time spent on the job never felt like work. It was most probably because it became my passion. Unless God has other plans for me, this is where I will be working for the rest of my life. Or I say, living out my passion.

Working for IGA St-Hippolyte.

This job was nice at first because everything was new, but after a few days, I was asking myself where I would be if I had chosen to go study in Mechanical engineering or in Social Sciences. Now I live in a small apartment with my dog and two cats. I live paycheck to paycheck, mostly talk to my domestic animals for social interaction, and the highlight of my week is when I order out every Friday night to celebrate the beginning of the weekend. But hey, I'm happy.

Bell Helicopter.

I have been working at this job for over five years now and I do not regret one moment of it. I have not yet looked back and asked myself, what if. I don't believe I ever will. Every day, I plan out new models and new ways of maximizing the performance of helicopters. They also give me a premium on my salary because I am now the lead chief of concept on my team.

After 25 years of hard work, the company for whom I work for decided to kick me out of their company. I don't really understand the why of all that. They just tell me that they needed to cut some people because of a slow-down of the productivity. A few day pass where I didn't know what I will do next because all that I knew was in this type of field. I conception over 25 shoppers for the military.

I finally made it to my retirement! After all that hard work, I can finally put all the stresses of a job aside and enjoy the most important things in life; my front porch, the company of Lester, my 5-year-old dog, and the never-ending conversations with Marvin, my newly acquired goldfish.

The new company.

I work for a new company in the helicopter industry. I guess I had previously acquired the right knowledge for the job as they offered me a supervisor position from the start. I must say, I am quite flattered that they would offer me that position. Now I am faced with a big decision. Two days ago I got a call from Bell Helicopter, they want me back. I don't know what to do.

Choice 1 : Go back to Bell Helicopter.

Choice 2 : Stay in the new compagnie.

It was the worst mistake of my life. The company had changed owners and the thriving environment that once was had disappeared. Although I was against most of the changes that were put in place, I put up with it as I only had two more years until retirement.

My new company suited me well. Actually, it suited me so well that I decided to postpone my retirement by eight years. The staff quickly became a second family and I found myself loving every moment working with them. After ten years of laughs, cries, ups, and downs, it was time for me to call it a decade. I miss it.
