The beginning of college.

I have to apply to college, but I am hesitating between two programs. It's an important decision that will have an impact on the rest of my life, so I need to be sure.

Choice 1 : Choose the Biomedical Laboratory Technology program.

Choice 2 : Choose the Animal Health Technology program.

I am now a Biomedical Laboratory technician, and my boss is asking me to give an on-the-job-training to a new employee. I have a lot of important work I need to get done, so I have to choose between showing him everything that he needs to know or to only explaining the basics, and go finish my work.

Choice 1 : Explain to the new employee everything he needs to know to do his job well.

Choice 2 : Explain to the new employee only the basics and get my work done.

I have graduated from my program a while ago, and I am now one of the oldest employees here. The other day, one of my coworkers came to see me and told me that our manager was sexually harassing her. I could see that she was scared, but I wasn't sure if I had to tell her to sit down and explain to me when and how it started, or go directly to the manager and ask him if it were true, since I've known him for years.

I definitely need to tell him all about the ins-and-outs of the job and make sure that there are no drawbacks. An important thing to talk about with the trainee is the wage and the bias. On an on-the-job-training, I need to be prepared for anything since I am not sure of what kind of knowledge the trainee has.

My manager asked me to give an on-the-job-training to a new employee, but I have a lot of work that needs to be done. I wasn't sure what to do, and I didn't want my boss to think that I was a bad employee, so I said I'll do it. Once the new employee arrived, I quickly explained to him de basics of what he needed to do and left him with another employee for the rest of his training. By doing that I took the risk of either losing the trust of my boss, or even getting fired.

My manager is very upset with me since I didn't do the on-the-job-training correctly. He is very disappointed in me, and I could see he would never trust me again. I could apologize and try to regain his trust, or I could leave things like this and say nothing.

My manager was to upset about what I had done, and he decided to fire me. I now have to find a new job, and I really regret the choice that I made. I hope this will teach me a lesson for the future.

I decided to leave things as they were and say nothing, and now my boss will never trust me. After a while, I was released of my function, and had to search for another job.

Try to regain his trust.

Once I realized that my boss had lost his trust in me, I decided to regain his trust, and showed him that I knew I've made a mistake. I was doing everything he asked me to do, and made sure it was impeccably done. After a while, he started to trust me again, and because of that I stayed their until my retirement.

I took my notebook and took notes of everything she told me. At first, the manager was just flirting with her as a joke and told her nice things about the way she worked, but as the days passed, he started to get more intense and said things that made her uncomfortable. She started dreading coming to work, and she felt trapped, after I listened to what she ad to say I could see that it was a misconduct. Sexual harassment has to be taken seriously, and now because I talked about it with the human resources, my manager was fired, and I was the one to get his job.

Once I asked my manager if it were true that he was harassing an employee, he quickly became hysterical, and starting yelling at me for accusing him of such a thing. I didn't know what to do, I didn't know if I could believe that he was innocent.

I could see that he wasn't telling the truth, so I decided to give him two options; he either retire from his job and give the job to me, or I would call the human resources and make him get fired.

Since he was an old friend and a good boss to me all these years, I decided to believe him and let this go. Sadly, it turned out that he was lying and a couple of weeks later, the girl was killed.

Now that the manager retired, and that I have his job, I have all the money that I want. But being the boss has its disadvantages. Sadly, the girl that came to me to complain about the sexual harassment wasn't happy with the fact that I didn't make a complaint about the manager, so she left her job, and decided to sue the company.

Since my manager didn't want to retire from his job, I had no choice but to call the human resources, and explain everything about the sexual harassment. There was an investigation about it, and they decided to fire him. Sadly, I didn't get the managing position like I wanted to, but I know that I made the best decision by calling the human resources. At least I know I made the right thing.

This is the end of my career choices. I can see that all the decisions that I make as an impact on my future. In the end, it all started with that first choice I made in the beginning. Some choices have more impact than others, but they all matter.
