High school is over.

You are fresh out of high school! That's exciting! You managed to pull off getting straight A's all while working a part-time job as a way to gain experience. The benefit of being a straight A student is the reassurance of getting into any program that you want to go into. Unfortunately, you are an extremely indecisive person. Like all the indecisive high school graduates, you have decided to go into Social Science in the meantime. Now you have to choose which college to attend, Ahuntsic or Saint-Laurent.

Choice 1 : Go to Ahuntsic College.

Choice 2 : Go to Saint-Laurent College.

Great! You have made your decision. Social Science at Saint-Laurent was a seemingly good choice. You get to learn many things about a subject you never knew you could have interest in. During your second year, you start to freak out. You can't decide what you want to major in in university. What you do know for certain is that you want to be either a psychiatrist or a criminologist.

Choice 1 : Criminology.

Choice 2 : Psychiatry.

Go to Ahuntsic College.

You have made your decision. Ahuntsic College it is. Starting at a new school where you don't know anyone can be quite challenging. You try befriending at least one person in hopes of getting rid of your loneliness. To your surprise, it wasn't as hard as you thought it would be. You have made a friend that is in Health Science and throughout the time spent together, you started taking an interest in her field of study. Although you friend describes her program as maddening, she asks you to consider switching into her program. You have to decide if you want to stay in Social Science or start fresh in Health Science.

Choice 1 : Stay in Social Science.

Choice 2 : Switch to Health Science.

Psychiatry.

You have chosen to pursue being a psychiatrist. You do long extensive research on what it takes to get into Psychiatry at the University of Montreal and start working towards it. Although it is proven to be difficult to get to your goal, your support system such as your friends and family has helped you a lot. After many hardships, you finally did it. You finished college! The results are now out. You find out that you did not get into your program of your choice. You're absolutely devastated but decide to push through and not give up on your goal. Now you have to decide how you are going to get there.

Criminology.

Wonderful! Majoring in criminology is what you decide to do in the future. After graduating from college, you apply into criminology at the University of Montreal. A few days pass and you find out that you have got accepted. Congratulations! No obstacles present themselves during your years in university. You become a highly paid criminologist due to your exceptional skills. Congrats!

Stay in Social Science.

The exhausted look on your friends face makes you question if switching into an even harder program is worth it. After much consideration, you decide against switching programs. Social Science is an interesting program to you. You can see yourself majoring in it in university. You get amazing grades in college and you decide to take a year off before university. You either want to work or travel.

Choice 2 : Travel.

Switch to Health Science.

Excited about your program change is an understatement as to how you are feeling. Health Science is a very intense program and requires you to study every day to make sure that you are up to date on all of your classes. Doing a cursory job on any single one of your assignments is out of the question. Everything has to be done thoroughly. Unfortunately, you fail one of your program classes. You have to decide if you prefer to retake the class in the summer or the following semester.

This is one of the best decisions that you made in your life. Your class hours and part-time hours do not collide with each other. Your employer hires many interns during this time which means fewer hours for yourself. Thus, you have more time to study and to pass your class. Afterwards, the following semesters went by smoothly and so did university. You become a great general physician that is known all over Quebec. With all the money you gained, you travel around the world every chance you got. You have reached your life goals.

By doing so, you are overwhelmed with the work load. You fail many of your classes which leads you do give up on your future. Your parents pity you and allow you to drop out of college. Instead of becoming a doctor, you work alongside your parents in the family business. You are content with your life and do not regret dropping out. School isn't for everyone.

Work.

Working for a full year was very repetitive. Throughout the year, nothing interesting has happened to you. What's great though is that you can afford to pay for your tuition yourself with the money you put aside for your education. The lack of financial problems helped you finish your doctorate in your field of study without worrying about having to worry about paying off you dept. Thus far, you live very happily and comfortably with your fiance.

Travel.

You have always wanted to take a year off from school. Congrats! One of your wishes is about to come true. This is the first time that you will be traveling by yourself. You're looking to relax yourself. You don't care about your destination. You have a friend living in Iceland that can accommodate you. However, flights to Portugal has reduced significantly in price.

Nice! After making your decision, you make an itinerary for all the activities you will do during your stay in Iceland. You buy your ticket and pack your bags as soon as possible. You are in a hurry to leave and see your friend that you have not seen in a long time. At the airport, you get a call from you friend in Iceland. You eagerly answer the phone to tell her about how excited you are to be visiting her but you stop from doing so when you hear crying on the other end of the call. Your friend's mom has passed away. She explains what happened and also that she can no longer have you stay over since it will be packed with relatives. You are understanding and offer your condolences to your friend. No more Iceland.

Portugal.

Portugal it is! How exciting! After telling your parents about your plans, your dad informs you that there are volunteering jobs that you can pick from in Portugal. Any of the jobs would look very good in your university application. After planning out all the details of your trip, you decide to look into the volunteering jobs offered in Portugal. You decide to volunteer as a teaching assistant in a primary school. When you came back from Portugal, you applied to university and got in. The much-needed break that you took allowed you to excel in your studies and you graduate university at the top of your class. You get many job offers from different institutions that would be lucky to have you.

Go into a similar program.

You really want to study at the University of Montreal because it is one of the best French universities in Montreal, and you live really close to the university. You decide to go into a general Social Science program at said university. Your plan is to take the atypical way to get your doctorate in Psychiatry. Although it is a major set back, you hold your head high. You get accepted into the university as a General Social Science student. Your parents decide to sell your childhood home and move back to their country. You need a place to stay. You have to decide between finding a place on your own or getting a place with a roommate.

With much luck, you find someone willing to split the rent with you quite easily. Having someone help with the rent proves itself to be a great decision for you and your future. You are getting amazing grades, making lots of friends and you have nothing to worry about financially. But when you go to your guidance counselor that provides you all the needed information on your program transfer, you find out that the reason why you did not get in Psychiatry in the first place is your lack of experience. Apparently the program prefers people that have done jobs in the said field rather than those who do not. You have to find a job before changing programs. Two jobs stand out: an intern in a psychiatry ward or assistant to a psychiatrist.

Intern.

Working as an intern in a psychiatry was a good decision. You get to see firsthand how everything operates and how your day to day life will be like once you do become a psychiatrist. Due to this decision, you get into the Psychiatry program at the University of Montreal. Furthermore, you are successful all throughout university and you become a great psychiatrist. Congrats!

Assistant.

You learn nothing useful with this job. All you do is fetch coffee and set up meetings. It's a dead-end job. Due to the uselessness of the job, you do not get accepted for the program change.

Although you really want to attend the University of Montreal, you do not want to take the long way to get in your desire program. So, you apply to another university and you get in. You are happy. Your first semester is hell. You are able to remain slightly above the passing grade but you do not want to reach that level of stress ever again. What will you do, quit your job or alleviate your work load.

Quitting your job leads to you struggling to pay for your tuition. Your tuition isn't free.

Lessening your work load by lessening your amount of courses for your second semester is the way to go. By doing so, you proceed to get higher grades and prevent feeling stressed all the time. You graduate and become a psychiatrist in your hometown. Congratulations!

Living alone proves itself to be very horrible for your education and financial situation. Because you have to pay the full rent yourself, you are forced to work more to afford your place. Thus, your grades get worse because you do not have time to study. You cannot continue living alone.
