High school with a foot in the door.

Coming from a private high school, I always thought it would never end. Studying in that school was harsh I would even say it was overwhelming. My parents paid a hefty price for my education, so I was always forced to to do my absolute best to compete with my peers. I never had straight A's, but I was never set aside by the elite of the class or my teachers, they always loved my ability to learn. Those five years were though on me, and they build me. All I had in mind was graduation, when one day, a woman came to our class and presented herself as our college counselor and I have to say I was happy because it meant High school was almost over and it was time for college.

Choice 1 : See what my friends choose

Choice 2 : Choose without consulting them

Everyone loves law!

At this point, I have known all my best friends for at least 5 years. Every time we had lunch together, we always talked about how being a lawyer would be nice and how being a judge would be nice too. But in the end we were all different we just didn't know it yet. My friends start talking about going to Maisonneuve College or Marie-Victorin College to study two years' in Social Science to open up doors at a University nearby, and we never talked about it again. I started my research and chose to go to Maisonneuve in Legal Technology because I didn't want to go to any University.

Choice 1 : Happy about his research he made his choice!

Anxiety Strikes back!

As a teenager, I was actually pretty anxious about my life and I now know that it was because I had a lack of self-confidence. Choosing a school or a program and running the risk of being alone was something I could not bare this.

Choice 1 : I am anxious, I can no longer think, and this is why I will start my way of thinking again.

Happy about his research he made his choice!

When school-day was over I was twice as much happy because I knew I could skip University and be able to be with at least 5 of my best friends. I came home with joy and I told my mother that I chose to go to Maisonneuve College in Legal Technology, and she was happy and also proud for me.

Choice 1 : 1 month later.

1 month later.

My mother is calling my phone in school hours which is literally impossible! I made my peace with myself because I knew I was dead if she did this. I ran out of the class room to answer the phone, and she starts yelling at me saying she knew that only I could pull off something like this. I was lost at this point what did I do wrong, because I know I didn't do anything crazy this past month. She tells me there is no Legal Technology at Maisonneuve College which didn't make any sense since I did my research on the topic. She tells me if I don't take my future seriously I will end up with a dead-end job.

Choice 1 : Me making a mistake at 16 years old?

Choice 2 : I told you I'm going at Maisonneuve for my studies!

Me making a mistake at 16 years old?

Impossible I'm way too smart for that, when I do my research I never miss.

I told you I'm going at Maisonneuve for my studies!

I told my mother that I knew what I was doing so there was no reason to panic. Legal Technology is a well-known field of study so most schools have it. She hangs up the phone after telling me that I made a mistake.

Choice 1 : Recognizing that I made a mistake

Home arrival.

I come home and my mom is in front of the computer, she tells me to show her that Maisonneuve College offers Legal Technology. First thing I do is to look up for Legal Technology and only three schools pop up. I was shaken, how could I miss this? It is in plain sight. Legal Technology is offered in only three college and Maisonneuve is not one of them. I Look at my mother and I do not know what to say. She opens her mouth and utters that knowing that I want to go to Legal Technology is great but I have to understand that my only viable option is Ahuntsic College.

Choice 1 : Going to Ahuntsic

Choice 2 : Going to Maisonneuve

I will feel good in the near future.

Going to Maisonneuve gives me the chance to enjoy my college years in the mitts of my best friends. But I will have to go to a University because Social Science is not a degree that gives you any foundation to work inside a law firm.

Choice 1 : I refuse to go to University

I must become my own person.

I always had my eyes set on having an internship as soon as possible to work in a law firm because I wanted to know if being a lawyer was enjoyable, because I didn't want to go to a University, but to become one you must pass the barre. I started a new research and learned that lawyers don't make much more than a bailiff and it changed my whole perspective. I needed money not prestige. Ahuntsic College seemed as the only real option for me and it was good also because it felt like a fulfillment because it was my chance to learn the ropes and be my own person. In addition, I knew it was the best solution because in my home, office politics are real and you do not want to get sucked up in.

Choice 1 : Freshman again

Ahuntsic.

My first week at Ahuntsic were hard on me, it was the first time I had some much freedom, and I was alone. Everything about the school made me anxious I could not bare it anymore I have to leave.

Choice 1 : Ask my API to transfer me to Maisonneuve in Social Science

Choice 2 : Fight through my anxiety

My mom will kill me.

I wanted to ask my API if I could be transferred, but I realized that my student account is linked with her email, which means everything that relates to the school decisions or money is signal to her.

Choice 1 : I must choose life

A born fighter.

Along the way, I saw through one of my snap chats friends a guy that I befriended 2 years prior while playing basket ball. We I saw him in the hallway, I complained that I didn't know anyone here. He said I didn't have to worry. He then proceeded to introduce me to at least 35 people so much so that I could not remember everyone's name for the first time in my life. But I realized that, I can make new friends, because in the end my personality attracts people. Finally, when I made my choice to be my own person, it was the moment I became mature enough to be a professional.
