Now that I am out of high school, I feel free. I don't have to worry about school works, I don't have to wake up early to get in class on time. I got more time for myself now! But my mom still doesn't like me being around the house wasting my time doing nothing productive. So, I told her I could get a dead-end job and, I am never going back to school because I hate it and there is no purpose in it.
Choice 1 : Getting a dead-end job.
Choice 2 : Go to college.

She didn't like my idea at all, she told me that I will regret it for not giving the chance to push myself further in life and that my wage won't be enough to cover my dept and my retirement. So, the more I give her my excuses for not going to college, the more she threatens me to hit me with flip-flop sandals and that she will send me back to our country to get my discipline right (in the South Asia, it is perfectly normal for the parents to beat their kids up. BUT nobody gets injured so do not worry about us!).
Choice 1 : Go back and go to college!
Before making a decision about the program I am signing up, I contemplate thoroughly about what career I want to be doing for the rest for my life. My mom been telling me to become a doctor so, I could get a really good salary, set aside some of my incomes, so I could provide for my future family and for my retirement. But on the other side, I've always wanted to work with animals, something like "animals psychologist". Studying about animals doesn't feel like work at all because I've been passionate and curious about them since I was a little kid. But my mother told me it doesn't pay as much as a doctor and that I should come in handy by helping real people.
Choice 1 : Get into a pre university medical science program
Choice 2 : Get into animals health program
I go to school every day, get up early, go to class on time, and I am studying every time I come back home from school. My mom is so proud, and she tells me how I am going to be so successful. My motivation for getting this degree is for the money, the bigger the income, the bigger my house will be! But with time, I start to lack of motivation and discipline. School starts to feel heavy and I start to feel disgusted with all the medical terms. Then, my friends call me to hang out, so I could get out a little bit of my routine, but should I tell them I got a lot of homework to catch up on? Or should I hang out with them?
Choice 1 : I tell my friends I have to do my homeworks.
Choice 2 : I procrastinate my homework and I hang out with my friends
Every day I get excited to go to school, which sounds really odd coming out from me. For the first time in my life I feel like I have a purpose in my studies, I am creating the life I've always wanted to have and I'm slowly getting closer to my fulfillment. But my mom is disappointed in me, she doesn't talk about school, neither about careers or even about futur plans! My mother is the type of person who always plans everything from A to Z. She probably planned my whole life before I even got born. Going to school in a different program my mother expected me to be, makes me feel guilty and uncomfortable for breaking our relationship. I don't know if I should talk to her to gain her support or just leave it that way...
Choice 1 : I have a talk with my mom about my decision and try to gain her support.
Choice 2 : I leave it that way, she's the one creating the tension by choosing every decisions for my life.
My friends understood me and let me focus on my homework. So, I'm sitting here in my room, trying to finish some works but I get so distracted by everything in the house. These books about medical health are so boring and uninteresting for me, that watching an apple would be more interesting than having to read these. I hate this field of study and the more I try to focus the more I fall asleep...
Choice 1 : I fell asleep.

Now that I fell a sleep, I failed my first exam. My bad habit of falling asleep on my studies kept ongoing for the whole semester, so I failed my semester. Maybe, I should choose a field of study that would be more interesting for me instead of doing what others want me to do.

My friends and I are having so much fun right now. But, in the back of my head I still feel bad for not prioritizing my homework, at the same time it feels so right to live my life to the fullest! I was overwhelmed with my studies and this field of studies didn't feel right for me. I've been trying to escape from this and I think I made a mistake by letting my mother planning my career like that. I need to make her trust me for planning my future on my own, I want to create my own path of happiness.

My mom and I never get into arguments, and we never had any moment where it was uncomfortable being together in the same room. It is the first time for us being in this situation and, I decide to be the bigger person and try to talk it out about our disagreement. I see my mom looking sad, she grabs her car keys and walks towards the door, ready to leave, I stopped her asking her to have a talk with me. So, I talk to my mom about how I am sorry for not being the daughter she always wanted me to be, I will not change my mind about the study of field I have chosen and I would love to have her support for the path I chose. My mother answers me back "And I am sorry for putting all this pressure on your shoulder. I was just scared that you might end up doing the same mistakes I've done at your age. But all this time I've tried to protect you, I didn't noticed how smart and dedicated you were and I didn't have to worry about anything about you. I love you and I will always support you no matter what.". Hearing this from my mother gives me joy and relive. My mom drops her keys back on the counter, and she hugs me as tight as she can.

I decide not to talk to her, I'm still angry and sad that she doesn't realize how having her controlling my life has a big issue to me. I've been feeling guilty every time I make my own decision because I've been living under the fear of always disappointing her. If I have to withhold my mom to be able to be happy, I will do it and, she will have to understand that all I always wanted to do, was to be happy. So, I see my mom being sad in the living room, she grabs her car keys and decides to go out, so she could have herself some alone time. I have that feeling inside of me that wants to have a talk with her, but another side of me that wants her to understand on her own what kind of unhealthy life she had put me through. At night, my mom haven't come back home yet and I start to feel worried. Then, someone knocks on the door, I went to see who it is and it was two police officers. They tell me my mom have passed away... She had a car accident with another drunk driver, and she didn't make it. I crumble on the floor and I'm here on my knees crying my heart out. I couldn't believe my pride actually killed her, if I had swallowed my pride and stopped her before she got into her car to tell her about how I feel it would have saved her... But my pride took control over me and now I didn't have the chance to tell her goodbye...
