Film and Dance

Start at the beginning.

My name is Emily Di Crosta and I study in film at Ahuntsic College. My main goal is to become a professional dancer and have my own dance studio and teach. To become a professional dancer, I don't need particular prerequisites before university. Since becoming a dancer in Montreal is difficult, my plan B is to become an artistic director. In general, my plan A is to go to UQAM, because it's the only university that has a dance program, and my plan B is to go to Montreal University.

Choice 1 : Professional dancer.

Choice 2 : Artistic director

Professional dancer.

There's two-way of becoming a professional dancer in Montreal. The first way, the easy one, is to go to UQAM and study in the dance program. The only negative side about it, is that they focus more on contemporary dance then other styles of dances. I'm more specialized in hip hop, dance hall and African dances, so the fact that my studies are going to be focused on contemporary is throwing me off. The second way to become a professional dancer in Montreal is to be popular on social media. This method is way harder because it's not guaranteed and you have to build a social circle based on what you're doing. You always have to be consistent and be creative, because followers love to seek for uniqueness. The question is, should I take the easy way or the hard way?

Choice 1 : Hard way

Choice 2 : Easy way.

Artistic editor.

To become an artistic editor, I have to go to Montreal University and do a bachelor's degree in film. In general, an artistic editor is the same thing as a movie director but for choreography's, shows and, plays. My goal with this possible future job is to direct my own dance shows and show them all around the world. The only problem is that this university is kind of far from my house. I don't know if I should stay with my parents with a car that might come in handy or rent an apartment next to the school.

Choice 1 : My apartment.

Choice 2 : My parents house.

The hard way.

I have chosen the hard way. Now, I have to make a professional Instagram account and post all my dance pictures and videos. To be consistent with my tine management and not be repetitive. I have to post pictures, videos in different places and also tutorials on moves. I also have to book photo-shoots so that my pictures are professionally taken. It's been 6 months now, and I reached 50k followers. Since, then a lot of people offered me good propositions but only two stood out to me. The first one, is a company in Toronto that offers me shows all around the world. The second one, is to be back up dancer for the raper Dababy.

Choice 1 : Go to Toronto.

Choice 2 : Back up dancer.

My apartment.

I have decided to rent an apartment. I found one next to the school but it's kind of expensive. I need a source of income to pay my bills. With my school schedule I can only work 15 hours a week and there's not many jobs who accept to hire an employee to work for less than 20 hours. I have thought about either becoming a drug dealer or becoming a stripper. I still don't know which one to do!

Choice 1 : Stripper

Choice 2 : Drug dealer

My parents house.

I'm in university and still live with my parents. Also, I didn't buy a car and chose to take the metro because it's way easier and less expensive. In general, everything is going as planned and I have straight A's.

Easy way.

I took the easy way so I have do the auditions to be accepted in the program. I went to the auditions and they told me i wasn't taken. It was maddening but now I have to go back to my plan B.

Go to Toronto.

I went to Toronto for the offer and realized it was a scam. I got kidnapped by four guys. They kept me for a few months in a small room with locks and on the first of November they had enough of taking care of me, so they killed me.
