I have been studying Social Science at Ahuntsic College for two years. It is now my final term, and I am very excited to go to university. I am not really sure if I want to start University right after Cegep or if I want to take a sabbatical year.

Choice 1 : Take a sabbatical year.

After all, I decided to take a sabbatical year. Now that I have free time, what should I do? Should I volunteer abroad or should I stay home and think my future and University options?

Finally, I decided that I would start University right after Cegep. I know that later in life I want to be a Translator. There are many ways to achieve my goal. First of all, I have to get my diploma in the Translation degree. That being said, I applied at two Universities: Université Laval in Quebec and Université de Montréal. I got accepted at both universities. Which one should I go to?

Choice 1 : Go to Université Laval in Quebec.

Choice 2 : Go to Université de Montréal.

Volunteer Abroad.

To occupy my free time, I decided that I would Volunteer Abroad. I had never experienced it, and I was very excited to finally experience it. I decided that I would volunteer abroad in South Africa in Muizenberg. There, I tough, took care of children and provided essential resources and support to two childcare centers. I also helped in developing programs to provide meals, basic education and life skills to many children. Not that I helped while I was in South Africa, but I also got great experience. Even more important, while I was away, I made friends for life.

Think about the future and University Options.

After all, I decided that it would be better for me to think about my University options. I figured out that I should take this time to fix my ideas about my future and how I want to do it. Trough this year, I thought a lot and figured out that I wanted to be a Translator. In viewed what were the step to become one and planned it all out. Next September, I will start University in Translation. But which one should I go to?

Choice 1 : Go to Université Laval in Quebec.

Choice 2 : Go to Université de Montréal.

After good reflexion, I finally decided to go study at Université Laval in Quebec City. Moving out of my family house and being all by myself included a lot of mental work but I made it. I found myself a cute little apartment in Quebec City not so far from the university. In the first weeks, I made a couple of friends, and we used to go out often after class on the weekends. I really want to get good grades in this degree in order to have good career opportunities after. Should I get over myself and focus more on my homework or should I take it easy?

Go to Université de Montréal.

After good thinking, I choose to stay here in Montreal to finish me studies. By staying home, I thought that I would be more focus on my studies and homework rather than if I moved out and rushed myself to work and be distracted by friends and activities. Therefor, even if I was allowed to have more time to do my homework, I still got distracted and went out often with my friends. Now, there are four weeks left to this semester and I took a lot of retards by going out. For the next week, should I focus on my studies or should I take it easy and do the minimum.

I really want to have good grades in my degree. I want to have great opportunities after. In that case, I made a snap decision about my time management and had to let go of my activities and stopped going out on weekends. For the rest of the semesters I really focused on my homework, reading and essays, because by putting aside what I had to do, work started piling. I gave a glance to all of my homework. It was rough and it was really maddening from myself to have left all that work to the last minute, but I still managed to pull everything off. I made sure I understood thoroughly almost everything I was reading. After all, it really paid off because I got straight A's in most of my classes, and I was allowed to great opportunities. Indeed, I had good enough grades to have a scholarship to do a major in Translation. I am not if I want to start working right now or if I want to pursue my studies and do a major.
