My legal path.
Freshly graduated!
You just graduated from college in Legal Engineering. After 3 years of hard study and an intensive internship of 15 weeks, you have finally finished. You are now at another stage in your life. However, you are undecided in your future plans. Part of you wants to take a break from your studies and work as a paralegal while another part wants to continue towards higher education at the university in order to be able to exercise your dream job: lawyer.

You decide to continue your studies and send your application to two different universities for two programs that interest you. You are applying to the University of Montreal in law because it was always your first choice. Since High School, you've already planned your life based on becoming a lawyer, and law school is part of the journey you planned. As a backup plan, in case your application is not accepted at the University of Montreal, you submit your application to McGill University in criminology. You discovered during your internship at the DPCP that you loved everything that touched from afar or close to the psychology of offenders, prison Law and Criminal Law. You consider a career in this field as a second career choice. Because of your good R rating, your application is accepted at both universities. Which one do you choose?

The first semester starts very badly. The competition is super strong between the students. Everyone has good grades except for you. You feel like you’re dragging your feet despite your background in legal technology. You fail certain courses and it demoralizes you. It’s harder than you imagined. Finally, law may not be the right choice for you.

Studies in criminology at University of Sherbrooke.
You move to the university campus to be closer to your school. Campus life is really nice. Besides, you love your choice of studies. The courses are fascinating, You find out how much more and more you care about this field and how well you feel. You get good grades and you make several friends after three years of study, you get your Bac in criminology. You’re so proud of yourself and you’re looking forward to getting into the workforce. There are so many opportunities out there. You don’t know if you should be moving to position in provincial and federal institutions or whether you should start slowly and move to job in youth centers.

You decide to apply on a position as a parole officer in a federal institution. Your first few weeks are really tough.You do some on-the-job-training for 3 weeks. Building your credibility with offenders is very difficult. The job becomes too stressful for you.
