The Student or The Athlete?

What is my next move?

After 3 years, I've now completed my technical program. My years at Ahuntsic College were great, but now it is time for me to move on to the next big step in my life. In order to make my choice, I'll mostly consider my aspirations as a student, but since I've always been a student-athlete, I will also consider my football career!

Choice 1 : Start my career as an accounting technician.

Choice 2 : Go study Accounting at the University of Montreal.

Choice 3 : Go to Concordia University and keep playing football.

Go study Accounting at the University of Montreal.

After finishing Cegep, I decided to retire from football. It was a hard decision, but after seriously thinking about it, I realized it was the best choice I could've made for my studies. I chose to continue studying Accounting at the University of Montreal, at the HEC more precisely. After only one week I made a couple of friends and one of them invited me to party, he told me it was going to be a great one since it it was the first party of the year. I didn't know if it were a better idea to go there and have some fun or to stay home and study, so I could start my semester the right way.

Go to Concordia University and keep playing football.

I chose to continue my education at Concordia University to be able to play football. I felt like I was still able to play the game, so I decided to take a chance. I was able to make the team and even earned a starting spot, but I unfortunately got injured right before the first game. But I didn't know if it were best if I did not tell anyone about it and play, so I could remain a starter or sit that one out and come back when I would be recovered.

Choice 1 : Sit this one out.

Choice 2 : Play anyway.

Stay home and study.

I decided I would stay home and study and thanks to that thoughtful decision I was able to get a great grade on my first exam. From that point on I was an excellent student and managed to pull of straight A's trough out my years at the University of Montreal. But at the end of my studies I had to make a choice, go live in France with the girl I had met a couple of months before and that I considered to be the love of my life or stay in Quebec and work for one of the biggest accounting firm in the country!

Choice 1 : Follow the love of your life.

Choice 2 : Work for the accounting firm.

Go to the party.

I decided it was a good idea to go out and have some fun. When I got to the party I saw a guy I used to go to high school with and at the same time I saw a beautiful girl walking in. I didn't know who I had to go talk to first.

Follow the love of my life.

Since I didn't know if I was ever going to find such an amazing woman again, I decided to follow her. I knew it was a risky decision but I did it anyway. Unfortunately after a couple of weeks, I got to our apartment and found her in bed with another man. She told that she was not feeling that same sensation of fulfillment that I was. After that tragic day I was completely lost.

Choice 1 : Keep looking for the one.

Choice 2 : Give up on life.

Work for the accounting firm.

I prioritized my career and decided it would be best if I stayed here. I had a job interview and it went great. The firm's main job was to manage the assets of their different clients. During my first couple of years I was only there to learn the ropes, but as I gained experience I also had more responsibilities. I was able to become a senior partner and my retirement was definitely not a problem since I had made a lot of money and the firm had a great pension. Unfortunately since I didn't pay any attention to my personal life, I had nobody to enjoy my retirement with and I ended up dying alone in my mansion.

Choice 1 : The end.

Keep looking for the one.

Even though I was heartbroken, I did not give up on finding the one. My perseverance paid off, because after a couple of weeks I found the real love of my life and it was none other than my ex-girlfriend's sister. I ended up being a successful accounting and had three beautiful children with my wife, and we lived happily ever after.

My friend from High School.

I decided I was going to talk to my friend from High School first. He told me that he was working on a new financial business and needed a partner. I was happy to accept even if I had to put aside my studies at times. I was starting to have bad grades, but the business was doing so well that I decided to dropout from school and only focused on it. It was the best decision I could've made, the business was a success and my friend and I were millionaires by the time we were 27 years old.

Start my career as an accounting technician.

After my technical program I decided the best choice was to go directly to the labor market. The first few years I was making good money, but after I got married and had my two children, I realized it was a dead-end job. Since I did not have a university degree I was not able to access a higher vacant position whenever the company had one. I had a decent retirement when it came to money, but it was a really sad one because I felt like I didn't reach my full potential.

Play anyway.

I really didn't one to lose the starting spot I had work so hard to obtain, so I decided to play despite my injury. Unfortunately, I aggravated that injury during the game. It got so bad that I was never able to play the game that I loved so much ever again. All of my dreams of being a professional player were gone in an instant.

Sit this one out.

I decided to sit this one out and made sure my injury was completely recovered before I came back. After only two games I was good to go, I was super excited to be back and gave everything I had on every single play. I had such a great career at Concordia that I ended up being the first draft pick in the CFL. I played 10 years for Montreal and even though I didn't make a lot of money throughout my career I was extremely happy to say that I was able to play Professional football.
