After 3 years, this is the moment you have been waiting for. You graduate officially in Business Management at Ahuntsic College. You can now choose either starting to work in a company or going straight to the university. You are very confused. As you already learned the ropes when you were doing an internship for 4 weeks in your last semester, your parents highly recommended you looking for a full-time job's vacant positions. Luckily, Zara, your favorite clothes' shop, is looking for employees in marketing position. On the other hand, you have always wanted to study more about Marketing in UQAM University in order to accumulate more knowledge.

Interview with Zara.

You are chosen for an interview with Zara's HR and Marketing Manager. There are 5 candidates including you. Though they choose only 2 out of 5, you are very confident with your CV and your performance. You are pretty sure that they will recruit you. 3 days later, you get a call from Zara's HR.

Working at Zara.

You really like your job, your colleagues, your workplace environment, and your company. Your manager is also really nice and thoughtful. He gives you and another new employee an on-the-job training for the first month. You always try to finish every task and project given by your manager earlier than others. That is why your manager prefers you to your colleagues. It seems like you have the biggest possibility for a raise in the future. That day finally comes, your manager sets up an appointment with every single marketer to talk about the upcoming raise. You are the first person being called by your manager. Going in his office, your manager says that you will definitely have a raise. Then, he starts touching your leg. You feel that there is something wrong going in there, but you still remain quiet examining the situation. Your manager tries touching higher, but you stand up suddenly and push him away. He seems a little bit surprised and upset. Then, he says that he loves you since the moment you walked in the interview room, and if you let him being closer to you, you will surely have a better compensation package. Gradually, you will earn a premium wage within 2 years. You do not know how to answer him. You try to refuse this one-of-a-kind offer. However, he does not give up easily, he warns you that if you do not accept this offer, he will let you go right at this moment, and you can never go back to work at Zara. You soon realize that it is a threat. You have to choose either accept the offer to keep your job or deny it and get fired.

Denunciation's plan.

Though you earn a better wage, every day going to work is totally a nightmare to you. The perpetrator always finds the reason to ask you going in his office for a certain period. You can not show to him that you actually suffer it, otherwise he will fire you. You do everything he tells until he is satisfied as you do not want to lose everything that you have been accumulated. This situation lasts for 3 months, and then you decide that you can not do it anymore. There are rumors spreading in your department about how you got a huge raise in such short time. Your colleagues start avoiding you and gossiping about your relationship with the manager. You start feeling depressed and realize that if you do nothing, it will surely become a dead-end job for you. You decide to set a trap for your manager. One day, as usual, you still do everything he asked for, then you sit in front of his desk and start asking him questions about why he is doing this to you, what he want you to do more for him, if he has ever done this before to anyone else, etc. You try to take much detailed information about sexual harassment he has ever committed to his employee. Your manager thinks that you just want a small talk to understand him more, but actually you already record everything he has said as an evidence. Then, you ask him to finish the day earlier because you have an appointment with your doctor. He accepts it without any doubt. Instead of going to the doctor, you go straight to the police and denounce the crime by giving them your evidence.

Outcome.

The police starts investigating right away. They talk to every employee active and passive in your department and take your manager into custody. The truth is gradually revealed. It seems that you are not his first victim. He has been doing this for a long time and a lot of people could not suffer the situation and decided to quit. Also, you are not the only one that he has offered. Every employee, who wants a raise, all went through it. Some denied the proposal, some accepted and endured it just like you. This scandal is posted and talked in every communication medium. Zara loses of customers. The company finally decides to fire your manager and demands him to apology all of his victims publicly and to compensate for their health's and psychology's damages. The police finally catches your manager, and he is put behind bars. You came back working normally after a leave of absence. The company assures you that this situation will never happen again, and they will try to take care and protect every employee's right more carefully.

New decision.

You get fired right after the moment you refused your manager's offer. You feel sad, but you know that you did the right thing. You can not do things that you do not feel comfortable doing it. However, you feel lost and do not what to do next. You decide to tell your parents the truth. They are shocked but also relieved that you quit working there. They suggest that you to take a break after everything. As you already saved some money, you always want to travel to different places or to do some volunteer jobs. Luckily, there is a volunteer abroad program in France, and they are looking for members. Without hesitation, you enroll for it. You are ready for this experience because you want to get away from all the bad memories for a fresh start.

This volunteer program gives you a lot of new experience and joy. It helps you put aside and forget what you have been through. Besides helping people with their project's difficulties, you have the chance to actually visit every France's region thanks to its leg work. After being back in Canada, you act like a new person with a lot of energy, happiness, and motivations. You know what you actually want to do in your life. You want to help people, to see their happy face with a big smile. You decide to apply for the Bachelor of Social Work at UQAM University, a program which does not have any link to Business Management. You are so ready and excited to start a new chapter of your life!

While applying for UQAM University, you are confused as there are a lot of possible programs' choices for you. You already finished 3 years of Business Management at Ahuntsic College. Though you did not always have straight A's in every class, you learned thoroughly about business, especially about marketing. You have always wanted to become a marketing specialist for a company, but some said that you have talent in communication with other people. They suggest that you try enroll for something different from business. You already have two programs in your head, but you do not know which one to choose, whether International Relations & International Law or Marketing Communication. It is your time to decide whether you stay in your safe area or you dare try something different.

Marketing Communication.

You feel safe and certain about choosing something that you are already familiar with. You have new friends and your teachers are friendly and opened to students. Since what you learned in College is linked to what you are doing right now, you have the advantage of having 30 credits in advance, which means there are 10 classes that you are not required to attend. You are happy as you actually have the choice to learn and follow what you have always dreamed before when you was a child. However, the more you learn, the more you feel bored. You soon realize that you want to learn something different. Maybe marketing is not as interesting as you thought. You still have the chance to drop out and choose another program since it is just the beginning of the semester. Once again, you really do not know what to do next, keep going or quit.

Things get worse.

You still want to continue the unfinished study path. However, life is not a bed of roses. Things get worse and worse. Since you are a full-time student, and you risk taking 6 courses, you have a lot of projects and exams coming at the same time. Your time management does not even work. At some moment, you get stressed and have the thought that you can not handle them anymore. You do not even have the time to eat and sleep properly. You get sick, but you can not drop out as it is already half the semester. The more you study, the more you feel stuck and tired. You become like a different person, you are sensitive with everything, even with just a small thing. You are always sad, you do not often smile, you do not have time to hang out or to rest. You can get upset and angry easily with people. Even your parents can see your changes. They try to offer helps but you always find a way to avoid them. They are scared that you may catch a serious depression which can cause a lot of negative consequences. Even you can realize it yourself. You feel powerless, you really want to go back to your old self, but you do not even know where to start and what to cure. Your parents are really concerned for your safety. They give you two choices, whether you drop out everything and take a long leave until you are back to normal or you go see a psychiatrist in order to have somebody who can actually understand your situation and help you. You need to change right now! You do not want to get any more worse.

New chapter.

You finally chose to drop out everything. You decide to spend your free time to find what you actually enjoy doing in order to find the old you back. You want to find a part-time job to earn money and to see what you are actually good at in life. You apply for a lot of places like coffee shop, restaurant, bar, etc. Luckily, you get accepted by a candy shop called Candy Labs. This thing is a whole new experience to you. You get taught how to do candy by hand. This job is really fascinating and you have a lot of fun going to work. The rest of your time, you hang out with friends, spend some time alone. Gradually, you are back to who you are and you find your own happiness in your life which is to do whatever you want, to feel free. You are glad that you actually dropped out and found the value of being a free individual.

Meetings.

At first, you do not think that meeting with a psycho doctor would actually help you since you became quiet and did not want to talk to anybody about your problems and your feelings. But then, your doctor is like a savior to you. She is friendly, always smiles, and she is ready to hear everything about you, even your smallest personal story, which not everyone can do it. With her appearance in your life, she soon becomes a person who you can trust fully. You let her understand and come into your life naturally. She gives you advice about everything, your life, your job, your study, and your future. You soon become better and realize that going to psychiatrist does not make you look crazy and is not scary like everybody said. It is just that you are stuffed by a lot of problems in your head, and they are there to help you untangle them step by step. After months, you are back to normal and you are capable of dealing with school. You are not scared or stressed anymore since you still go see your psychiatrist often. You are happy that you made the right choice!!!

Moving out!

After dropping out the program, you decide to move to another region to start something new. You can speak English as well, so you have a lot of choices. You still want to stay in Canada as it is one of the best secured country. You decide to move to Vancouver. You try to find a full-time job since you already had a college degree in Business and you are capable of working in a company. You want to start by something small and then by the time you will work with your maximum effort in order to get a raise and a higher level gradually.

New program, new journey!

By choosing a total different program from Business, which is International Relations & International Law, you prove that you are the person who likes to explore new things and challenge yourself for changes. This program is a whole new world to you. Though you have some problems at the beginning of the semester, your friends and your teachers help you through it. At the same time, you volunteer participate in a lot of government projects which relates to your field of study. It is an opportunity for you to meet new people and create more connections with them. You choose to finish your 3rd year with an academic exchange take place with recognized universities in Europe, Asia, and America. You are confused between choosing Asia, where is close to your family, and Europe, where you have never been before.

New country, new life!!!

You choose University of Kent in Canterbury, the United Kingdom for an 1-year exchange. As you have always wanted to visit some countries in Europe, you are really excited that now you actually have the chance to live in UK and to travel to other countries. You can speak English as well, so there is no problem living in UK. The only difference is that native speakers have different accent from you, but it does not deter you from learning and fitting in the society. After one year, you finish your last semester with a good result. Also, you learn a lot of new things about their culture, their language, etc. This is a really invaluable chance in your life to actually change your living area and accumulate experiences.

Instead of choosing to go to the United Kingdom, you always prefer going to a country where is nearer to your family as it will be easier for you to actually come back to Vietnam during vacations. In addition, National University of Singapore has a lot of good reputations about its students, its teachers, and even its programs. Effectively, it is a perfect choice for you as you have the chance to learn a lot of new things in one year. You also have the chance to socialize with international students from different countries just like you. Thanks to your efficient performance, you have a lot of companies' invitations for a full-time job. Your choice is absolutely worthwhile! You will soon come back to Singapore for work after the graduation at UQAM.

Unexpected event.

You are shocked and sad with the result, but it can never hinder you from finding new jobs. Instead of looking for a full-time job, you decide to do two tasks at one time which are working as a part-time employee and studying as a part-time student in UQAM. You enroll for a program linked to your previous field of study at Ahuntsic College. You decide to choose the Marketing Communication program and study for 4 to 5 years as a part-time student. On the other hand, you work at Starbucks as a part-time barista. This is a totally new job for you but you always want to try as many new things as possible while you still have the chance. One day, you receive a call from Zara's HR. They said that the employee who got in never shows up at work. They try to call her, but she never answers. It seems that they are in need of manpower right now for Marketing Department. You are their choice. They ask you if you still want to work for them or not. You tell them that you will need to think about it since you already began your semester and your new job at Starbucks. They give you three days to think about it.

The reason why you don't accept their offer is that you are actually satisfied with what you are doing right now. You have the chance to study more specific about Marketing and to work at your favorite coffee shop. You do not want to leave everything behind just because Zara has some sort of problems and now they come back to you as a replacement, not because of your actual capacity. You do not regret about your decision. You are happy with your life right now. You will stay fully focus on your study and your work. Maybe after graduation at UQAM, if Zara is still looking for manpower, you will be very pleased to apply for them one more time.

How can you ever turn down such a good offer like that? You have always wanted to work in a Marketing Department and it is from one of the most popular fashion companies. You accept that offer without hesitation. After 6 months working there, you never regret about your decision. However, things are not always like what you expect. The girl, who actually got accepted by Zara 6 months ago in the same interview with you, suddenly shows up. She was in an accident right after that interview which made her suffer from serious injuries. Now, she is back and asks Zara for return her place. She is a marketing expertise that Zara can not resist her. On the other hand, you have been working here for 6 months, and they can not fire you for such an unexpected reason. You say that you want to work here, and you do not want to leave as you are having a good position and you are really happy about it. Also, Zara has no reason to fire you since you put a lot of efforts in every project, every deadline and bring a lot of benefits for the company. You are serious and determined about the fact that you will not give up your job and if they ever have the intention firing you, you will surely sue them for not respecting the employees' rights. After hearing your opinion, Zara decides that they will not let you go just because of this person. They respect you and they see how hard you are working for them. You are super pleased that you have the chance to tell you what you want and demand for acceptance. This situation can be counted as one of many morals that you need to experience in your life!
