What an important choice.

I just finished my college year and now I have my diploma in my pocket. For the past three years I have studied nature sciences at the Cégep de Thetford, and I am very proud of what I have accomplished. Today I find myself faced with a choice that will change my future forever and I don’t know what to do.

Choice 1 : Go on a trip.

Choice 2 : Register at the University of Sherbrooke.

Go on a trip.

I’ve been working every summer since I was a little kid, and luckily I never had to do a job interview because I work at my dad’s shop. I was then hired very early without having to prepare a resume and I have been putting money aside for five years now, so I can afford to travel without any income. My situation, though comfortable, I still have a problem because I can not decide on my travel destination.

Choice 1 : France.

Choice 2 : Mexico.

Register at the University of Sherbrooke.

I am extremely pleased to have been accepted into the administration program. For many goings to university is a huge fulfillment but for me it is only a new challenge and I look forward to it. I have heard many stories about the many distractions that university life offers when I was in college, and now I feared that it will begin to come true in my own life. It’s hard to have good time management through parties and homework. Tonight I have to decide whether I choose to do homework for my test tomorrow or join my friends.

Choice 1 : Do my homework.

Choice 2 : Go to the party.

France.

I have just arrived in Paris and the scenery is much more impressive than I expected. I don’t resist temptation for long and stop at a nice restaurant. As soon as I got in I noticed a pretty girl who noticed me in return and gave me a smile, so I decided to sit not far behind her without paying too much attention. After finishing eating she gets up and joins me, so I wipe my mouth thoroughly. She flirts with me for almost thirty minutes before inviting me to continue the day with her, but I'm not sure if I want.

Choice 1 : Stay with her.

Choice 2 : Leave alone.

Mexico.

I arrived in Mexico an hour ago, and I am currently heading to the youth hostel, which will welcome me for the next six months of my volunteer project. Contrary to my plan to go to France this trip is much less luxurious as the conditions will be difficult however the price was much lower. During the months that I volunteer, I will help people do different things in their communities and I will try to provide them tools that will help them even after we leave. When I arrive at the hostel I am offered two choices either to take care of improving the conditions of a senior center or to go into the jungle to help a small village.

Choice 1 : Jungle.

Choice 2 : Senior center.

Do my homework.

I’ve been studying for a very long time and I’m starting to get exhausted because of the amount of material in the exam. In addition, my friends are very actives on social media, and they publish stories of the evening that seems much more fun than mine, so I have trouble concentrating. So, I’m thinking of an idea that would save me time, but that could also cause me serious problems.

Choice 1 : Choose to cheat.

Choice 2 : Choose to not cheat.

Go to the party.

I arrive at the party with the impression that I didn't make a good decision but I force myself to drive away this thought. I find my friends who are already a little drunk, so I start drinking too. As the evening progresses I forget that I didn't study for the exam of the next day and it's at this moment that I see my teacher dancing. Then, I decide to flirt with her because she is young and seems drunk too. To my surprise she is happy to see me and begins to stick with me with passion and even ends up kissing me, so I take the urge to invite her to return to my apartment but I'm not sure if it's a good decision.

Choice 2 : Drink with your friends.

Bring her to home.

We walk to my apartment which is located not very far from the party. During this time, I want to be sure to not make a misconduct, so I take the opportunity to talk to her about sexual harassment in order to not cross her limits and to have his agreement throughout the evening. At the apartment I am sure that she has a strong desire towards me and that she is in agreement then we head to my room to spend more than an hour. After we had sex I’m still dreaming, because I just realized every boy’s dream. When we get dressed she sees my homework on my desk and remembers that she gives us a test tomorrow, and she tells me that it will be canceled, because she is not able to go to work. I enjoy the chance that I have and for the rest of my university it's sure that I will do my homework before party.

Drink with your friends.

I decided to leave my teacher to join my friends. They are playing beer-pong, so I start playing with them. I’m not a person very resistant to alcohol and I’m starting to feel dizzy though I keep going because I have fun. An hour later I go to the toilet and start throwing up and I’m not able to control myself anymore. My friends are very worried, so they call the paramedic who tells them that my life is in danger. They bring me to the hospital the faster they can but it's too late. The phone rings at my parents' house a little later, and they are told that their son died of alcohol poisoning.

Choose to cheat.

I am well-aware that my decision is not part of how to do well at school but I need to have straight A's and I do not think I can do it without cheating, because I did not study at the right time. I am afraid of getting caught, so throughout the exam I remain as subtle as possible while taking my time not to arouse suspicion. When I leave the class I am confident that I have succeeded, and I am glad that I have taken this risk. A few weeks later, I received a letter asking me to go before the school’s disciplinary committee because I was caught cheating. I went to the meeting when I was supposed to, and they told me that I was out of the program. Then, I'm back to the beginning.

I just got my exam grade and I had the best one of the classes. I’m surprised and very happy at the same time because the ice is broken. My teacher has just written me to offer an internship because he has never seen a student with such a good result on this test. I have a lot of work to do, so I don’t know if I have time for that.

Choice 1 : Accept the internship.

Choice 2 : Refuse the internship.

Stay with her.

I decided to stay with Alicia to learn more about her and hope she could show me around the most beautiful part in the city. After touring the most famous places she takes me to a small shady restaurant and I don’t feel very comfortable in this situation. We take a small door who opens in a strip club. I realize immediately that she works here which explains her dress style. I also notice a very suspicious group of men by the door. Alicia invites me to a small room where some other man are waiting for me. Sitting at the end of the table, the chief stands up and offers me a job that involves transporting drugs to Lyon. I’m in a bad situation and I don’t know what to do.

I have decided to continue my day on my own because I have just arrived and I want to have some time to myself. As I walk down the street I see a conflict between a young man and an old woman, so I join them to try to solve the problem but the man runs away before I arrive with the lady’s bag. Then, I go in pursuit trying to cross a passing street and then a car hits me head-on. I only woke up a few days later in a hospital bed and was told that my lower body was completely paralyzed and that I had to return to Canada. So, I get on a plane in the next few days and go home.

Jungle.

The jungle seemed to me an excellent choice, because the landscapes are incredible and majestic but I did not believe that we should sink so deep, far from modern civilization. Also, I don’t understand the language of people with me and I feel they’re panicking, but I can’t understand what’s going on. I was originally told that the village was a two-hour drive away, and we’re almost at four. We are lost and the chances of survival are zero, because our gas supply is exhausted, and we have no food. A few days later, I am the last survivor of the group and I only have a few hours left, so I sit down and enjoy as I can my last moment.

Senior center.

I’ve always loved older people because of their history and their generosity, so I couldn’t miss that chance to help them. In addition, I worked in a residence in Quebec when I was younger. When I arrive at the scene I was surprise by the state of the building which seems uninhabitable. During the following weeks I learned a lot about life by discussing several topics with residents such as retirement and how to deal with it despite the different culture. One night I couldn’t sleep, so I took a walk in the trails around the residence. On the way back I saw a huge cloud of smoke above the building, so I ran as fast as I could, however the fire was huge and I had to take to decide if I would help my new friends or stay outside safely.

I’ve decided to put my life at risk and I’m going into the building. The rooms are on the second floor, so I’m trying to find a staircase through all this smoke. Once I get to the top I get to the first room and I manage to transport the lady outside. Then, I take the same path to save a second life but when I open the door I start feeling the floor tremble and it collapses. I fall to the first floor and then I lie on the ground with my leg broken and I can move no more. The paramedics stay in front of the burning house and stop working, because the situation has become too dangerous. I feel my eyelids getting heavy and losing consciousness because of the heat and lack of oxygen. My generosity has been fatal.

I’ve been watching the residence burn for almost an hour waiting for someone to pick me up, because I need psychological help. It is obvious that this scene has marked me forever and I want to return home in the coming days because I need to be with my family.

Accept the internship.

This opportunity to become an intern and put a foot in the door does not present itself to everyone and I could not miss it. I’m getting a lot of experience in my future job and I’m now sure that I’m ready to do it for a long time. In addition, this internship is a good way to acquire theory in class more easily, because practice and hearing it are two different things. I’m happy with the choices I’ve made in the last few weeks and I’m confident that I will have the future I’ve always dreamed of.

A few months ago I decided to refuse the internship and I regret this choice. I’m having trouble in my classes and I think I could have been more successful if I had chosen the other option. In the end with more effort I will pass my diploma and I will get another internship offer.

Finally, I accept the deal, and they bring me to their warehouse where they keep all the drugs that I will transport to Lyon. They show me everything I need to know before, so it will be safe all along the travel. I'm finally ready but I'm nervous and I feel like my heart will explode in my chest. On the road, everything seems safe, so I'm calmer. It only stays few kilometers before the meeting point and I feel like everything is about to tip over because there two cars who have been following me for thirty minutes. My worries become reality when police car arrive behind me and start their siren. I park my car on the side of the road and my biggest fear happened. They discover everything and I got arrested for drug trafficking. A few months later, I received a prison sentence of ten years.

I decide to refuse the offer without knowing what awaits me. It is at this moment that a man behind me pulls out a rifle and lifts it in my direction. I try to beg them without any results. The boss tells me that I must accept or I will be killed, so I accept.
