It was the end of high school. I wasn't sure what to do next I felt like the whole world had options for me. Nevertheless, two choices were available to me. The first choice was to apply to Thetford College and study Special Education Program. I knew it was the wise choice to make. The other option was to take a gap year and travel the world by myself. This choice was more of a dream than an actual plan. So, I decided to go to Thetford College. I did not get straight A's. In some of my courses, I did a cursory job. But because of my time management skills, I was able to pull off a passing grade in all of my courses. Event tho I wanted to get really good grades, I was still happy with what I got. After four great years, I graduated from college. It was a bittersweet feeling to know I was leaving this establishement forever. Now, I can apply for a job that will lead me to a career as a special needs educator. It felt right so I knew I made the right decision. For the following, I had two choices : apply for a job nearby or apply for a job abroad. It's like everything led me back to travelling. It has always been my dream to work in another country. It just felt right to go abroad to do the job I liked. I am now officially a trainee, and I am doing my on-the-job training so that I can learn the ropes. I am in a country I always wanted to discover. The nice woman at HR has asked me where I want to work next. Neither positions comes with a premium wage. I can't make up my mind. It has now been a few years that I am far from home and I am starting to feel homesick. So, I had the same two choices to make : go back home to work or stay where I was already working. I chose the first option. Now I am working close to my home, but this job requires overtime and good knowledge of English. Luckily, everything I learned in my college English courses will come in handy while talking with Anglophones Also, during my years abroad, my Englisg got real good. Despite the office politics, I try not to get sucked up in their drama and office intrigues. After all, I would make the choices I made all over again. I have no regrets of the life I built for myself.
