Training in college.

Since I was very little, I was very interested in science, healthcare and helping patients. That is why I choose biomedical laboratory in college. I wanted to learn how to analyze samples and be able to give accurate diagnostics. At the beginning, I went observing, and I learned the safety protocol. I managed to learn fast to start rapidly the analysts to help the more with the diagnostics and the help of the patients. My motivation grew bigger when I knew our diagnostic were essential to the treatment.

I was now on the OJT in hematology rotation. It was worthwhile because it gave me good experience worth for future class and future employment. They had me do a complete blood count. I needed to analyze every little cell. I used a hematology analyzer because there was possible hemolysis. I also did some blood smear to analyze under the microscope. I was not sure about the hemolysis, I did not know what to do.

In microbiology, I needed to review the quality control results. I needed to make sure that they were accurate, so we could to our test later on. When, I reviewed it my results, they were not acceptable. I then needed to process what have could been done wrong or what will make the results accurate. I then thought that it could be a calibration issue, I then recalibrated the analyzer and repeated the essay, but it did not work.

I was at the microscope looking at a blood smear. I did not know what that type of cell it was. I try remembering it but I could not. I needed to know what it was to complete the analyst, but I couldn't figure out.

I informed a supervisor if I was right for the blood samples I had been looking. He verifies it, and he had agreed with me, and he told me I needed to be more confidants with what I think.

Because I wanted to figure it out by myself, I decided to go search in a book. I took three books on the book shelf. I got back to my place and started looking at the pages. I found something that look like what I had on my blood smear.

I am really tired of my day and I'm done searching, so I guess that it was that type of cell, and I prayed that it was a good guess.

Even if the quality control test did were not accurate I decided to do the test because I had not all day long to wait for the machine to start working.

I did the urine test, with the sismen-660, but it said that my patient was normal, so I record results that were not good.

I did the urine test with the machine call sismen-660, my patient as not normal results. Because my quality control are accurate I can transfer the results and the patient can be called for another exam.

I am sure that my results are accurate, and I can now record them on laboratory information system. The doctors will be now capable of doing diagnostic because of my job.

Because I had made bad decision, the doctors couldn't make good diagnostic. The patient could have been dead because of me. The dive of work was intense, I had made a decision, it is not a job for me. Even if I had the perfect background the HR want me to work there, and I'm not capable.

Today I made really good progress, the HR proposed me a vacant spot for when I am gonna be done with my study. I talk about the wage with my trainee, and he reassured me about it. For now, I need to set aside this experience and continue to get straight A's.
