There I was at the end of college with so many options available to me, yet I had no idea what my future could even look like. I had a bunch of companies trying to sign me like I was in the NHL draft.

There I was on the first day of university at the Colorado School of Mines. I was very nervous. On the first day, I was confronted with a very important choice: friends. I had two different groups come up to me asking to be my friends. The first was a group of smart kids who would probably help me get the best grades possible in school. The second was a group of party kids.

After my first session, I was very happy with my choice of friends. My grades have never been better, and I was having lots of fun with my new friends. One night I got a call from my friends asking me to go out the night before my big end of semester exam.

After my first semester, I had the time of my life with my new friends, although my grades were suffering a little bit. The night before one of my big exams, I was planning to do a crazy study session, but all of a sudden, I got a phone call from one of my friends saying that we needed to go out tonight because one of our favourite bands was playing at the local bar.

The job market was a smooth ride. Straight out of college, I was approached by two massive companies in the mining industry. They both wanted me to be a mining technician for them. Once I passed the interviews, the first job offer I got was as a surveyor (the job I wanted), making $90 000/year, and the second company offered me a job as a geologist (my second choice), making $110 000/year.

I decided to go out with my friends for the first time. I was not prepared for the amount of alcohol that they were about to make me drink. I ended my night at the hospital, and I woke up a week later with no memories of that night. I ended up missing my exam and failing that course.

Staying in was a great choice, I ended up acing that exam. As fast as I could blink, I was already done with university. I now had to decide if I wanted to get a master's degree in geology or try to find a job.

I decided to continue my education and get a master's in geology. The continued studying and learning led me to lose my mind. I would be in complete isolation for many days and many nights, which led to my mind breaking.

The job market was quite gruelling. I had difficulty securing an interview. Even when I did get an interview, I would always seem to get rejected. Eventually, my ego got the best of me, and I completely lost it at one of my interviews. I started screaming, shouting and flipping the desk over. Turns out the mining industry is very small, and word got around that I'm a loose cannon and will never get a job.

Although I make $20 000 less a year, I was doing the job I wanted to do, and I had way more room for advancement and being able to climb the corporate ladder. After a couple of years, I ended up getting two promotion propositions. The first was to become a supervisor for the construction branch of miners, and the second was to become a supervisor for the production side of the mine.

After getting the job as a geologist, it was hard in the beginning doing something I didn't necessarily enjoy, but the extra money allowed me to do more things I did enjoy while I wasn't working. I was torn between what I should spend my money on. I was either going to buy a brand-new truck or go on a two-week vacation.

I obviously decided to go out with my friends and watch our favourite band play at the local bar. That choice then led to me failing my exam the next morning. Failing that class added a year to my schooling, and I ended up dropping out that year.

Deciding to stay in helped me pass that exam and, hence, that class. I then was able to finish university with decent grades. I then had to decide if I would want to continue schooling or try to get a job.

I was quite happy with my job as a construction supervisor, but there was one problem: my crew were not the brightest of the bunch. This led to me and many others of my crew getting injured, which than led to me getting fired.

Becoming a production supervisor was one of the best choices I could have ever made. It led me to getting another great promotion, which they wanted me to become a captain of the mine. But I was hesitant between taking the promotion or retiring.

The choice to continue schooling was one of the worst choices I could have possibly ever made. I tried continuing, and I didn't pass a single class for a whole year. I then decided to quit school and mining altogether because my confidence was shattered.

While trying to get a job after university, I quickly realized that my grades were much worse than I had previously thought. So, finding a good job was practically impossible. I ended up getting frustrated, and I ended the job hunt altogether, and I became a raging alcoholic.

The new truck was the right choice until it wasn't. I ended up crashing it and becoming permanently handicapped from the neck down.

Whilst on vacation, I would go to the beach every day to swim and to tan. One day, I was swimming, and a shark came from the back and bit off my legs. I was able to swim away because the shark was too busy eating my legs.

Taking that promotion led me to become the general director of the mine, making the big decision and the big bucks.
