I have just finished high school. Around me, everyone seems to already have a good plan about what.s to come. However, I am still hesitating. One thing appeals me : a stable and concrete career...perhaps at the border, controlling what enters and leaves the country. Should I go in Social Sciences or Police Technology?

I start studying Social Sciences at Montmorency College in Laval. The courses are really interesting : sociology, politics, economics. But soon, I realize that the freedom that comes with the college might be a trap. Exams are approaching and motivation start to do some ups and downs. Should I seriously invest myself in my studies or take it lightly and procrastinate?

I enter Police Technology. I am so happy. The program is very nice but also demanding : physical training, discipline and scenario-based simulations. I quickly realize it is not for everyone and after a few weeks the pressure starts to grow. Should I keep pushing despite the difficulty or start questioning my choice.

I applied on a job posting : a security company is urgently looking to fill a vacant position at a large shopping mall. A few days later I am invited for an interview and shortly after I received a call letting me know I had the job! I am assigned as a guard in busy shopping mall where I will be responsible for monitoring the area, assist customers and responding to incident. On my first day, as a trainee while I was trying to learn the ropes, a store employee approaches me and told me they had been robbed. I see That the Canda Border Services Agency has openings and is actively recruiting new officers. I applied knowing the process will be long and demanding, I have completed with success the interviews, test and background check! After a few weeks, I am officially a trainee. Every day I interact with travelers, check documents and stay alert for any suspicious behavior. I begin to feel more confident while I am still learning the ins-and-outs of the jobs However new challenges quickly appears. One traveler, who cross the border frequently for work, start behaving in a way that makes me uncomfortable. Should I stay professional but set clear boundaries or ignore this misconduct and continue working?

I continue my on-the-job training and complete it successfully. A few months later one of the colleagues was really friendly and eager to help. I trusted him completely but over time a realized he often forgot to include me in important briefing or updates. One day as I was asking with a potential suspect I followed what was an outdated protocol that was unknown to me. My colleague stepped in and corrected me in front of a supervisor making it seem like I was careless. Later that week I confirmed that he had access to all the updated information and had chosen to not share them with me. He was withholding information from me. That colleague made a complaint about the lack in my work and I got fired. Start again.

I ask my supervisor to have more responsability in the organization. He offers me a new job on a vacant position in a bank. I started there about a week later and immediatly fell in love with this new opportunity. I stayed there for many years. The pension was growing bigger and I set aside some money. With that pension I could retire at 55 which I did. I now started to travel around the world and I am so happy to realize that dream. Start again.

I am working at Maxi for almost three months but it feels like a dead-end job and it was invaluable. Start agaim.

I follow the instructions of my supervisor, he explained to me what to say and who has the traveler. Just before lunch I was that traveler and let him pass without asking many questions. I was feeling really bad for what I had just done, but I was happy to receive a sum of money at the end of the day. At the end of my day, my supervisor called me in his office, I was so happy to receive that money but when I enter his office there was a bunch of police officers. Later, I learned that he called the police to denounce me. His smile when I got arrested seemed like he was really proud of himself. I finished my day in a police station cell. Start again.

When I got put of his office, after his proposition that was literally corruption I decided to call the boss of our department's, and he suggested calling the authority, what I did. They started an operation against the supervisor and told me to do the deal he proposed me, to be able to catch him. I did exactly what they told me and at the end of the day he was arrested by the local police. I was feeling proud of myself for this. I did not get the money he was proposing me, but I got a promotion and became the new supervisor. I did get a premium wage. I did a good action today and even pass on TV! Start again.
