End of High School.

It was the end of high school. I was lost, and I didn't know what to choose among all the careers. Based on my preferences, two choices were available to me. I want a job where I can work outside and stay active, but office work doesn't scare me.

Choice 1 : Work in Construction

Choice 2 : Apply to a College.

Work in Construction.

Since I can handle tools, I built things all the time. My dad has a construction company, and he always brings me on the job site to help him. I'm a hands-on person.I thought it would be great to work as a carpenter or an electrician, but my mom wants me to obtain a college diploma.

Choice 1 : Work in Construction Anyway.

Choice 2 : Go Back to the Beginning and Apply to a College

Apply to a College.

I have two options to continue my studies. First option, I can apply to Sherbrooke College in the program Technologies of Civil Engineering, where I can do survey, structure of wood, steel and concrete, technical drawing and study the sols. I will need to travel two hours per day to go to school. Second option, I can apply to Granby College in regular courses close to my home.

Choice 1 : Sherbrooke College.

Choice 2 : Granby College.

Work in Construction Anyway.

My mom threatened to kick me out of the house if I decided to work in construction, and I didn't continue my studies at college. I can afford an apartment, and their will be to many drawbacks, I need to apply to a college.

It's hard to stay focus at school because the classes are boring. I will need to work hard and being thoughtful about the subject matter to pull off straight A's.

Sherbrooke College.

The first two years fly really quickly because I had a lot of fun with my colleagues. I learn how to built streets, dams, and bridges. The subjects are interesting and reliable. Though, I have a big decision to make for summer, I need to choose between two OJT.

Choice 1 : OJT in Excavation.

Choice 2 : OJT in Engineering Consulting.

Work Hard for Pull Off Straight A's.

The general classes at Granby College are hindering my progress. I need to change program. I can't continue like this, more often than not I skip classes.

Choice 1 : Sherbrooke College.

Take a Brake and go on Vacation to Change my Mind.

I travel around the world, and I make wonderful meetings. After a mouth, I am thoroughly broke, I need to find a job to gt a premium wage. To obtain that wage I need a diploma. Maybe, I can apply to Sherbrooke College in Civil Enginnering Technologies.

OJT in Excavation.

I was my first time as a trainee, and it went bad. After only two weeks the situation was maddening because my co-workers undermine me every time I was doing something wrong. They withhold important information, so I made mistakes when I was on the construction site.

OJT in Engineering Consulting.

Working in engineering consulting could be a good opportunity to learn essentials skills, so I can become a good technician. It will be a good base for my career, but the wage is quite low compared to the other OJT.

I talk with my boss, but he seems to have a bias for the others' employees, so he didn't change anything. Only one option is available to me.

There are a lot of distractions during my last year at Sherbrooke College. All of my friends are partying every Friday night's. I have difficulties with my time management.

The summer went well, and I pull off a lot of work. I learned a lot of new skills that will be useful for the rest of my career. At the end of the summer, they offered me a permanent job once I finish my studies.

Refuse the OJT for the Salary.

If I want to in-depth my studies rapidly in Civil Engineering Technologies, I need to do an OJT of minimum two weeks. I can't refuse for the salary. There is only one choice available to me, even if the working conditions are not ideal for me.

Accept the Offer and Continue in Engineering Consulting.

I finish my last year at Sherbrooke College, and I have been working for one year now in engineering consulting. The atmosphere is not pleasant. I try to focus on the job to get a premium wage, but I feel like I'm getting sucked-up-in office politics.

Start my Own Company.

I start my own company as a general contractor in construction, and I have a successful career. I have more than fifty employees ans we are specialized in the construction of bridges.
