Begin your first semester.

I had just finished high school, and I decided to start Social study at Cegep de Sherbrooke. I chose this program because I wanted to build a better future and develop useful skills for my future teacher career. I also liked the idea of meeting new people at Sherbrooke, working in groups and becoming more independent. On the first day, I felt nervous but excited at the same time. The campus was much bigger than my old school and everything felt new. Although I was a little stressed, I was motivated to succeed and do my best.

I entered the classroom and I sat down quietly near the front. The teacher explained the course outline, the evaluation methods and the expectations for the semester. I listened carefully and took notes. The class ended after 3 hours. I understood what I needed to do to succeed, which made me feel more confident and organized.

Explore the campus.

I decided to walk around instead of going to class. At first, it was fun to discover new places like the cafeteria, the library and the student center. However, later I realized I had missed important information. I felt stressed and unprepared because I didn't know what to do.

I reviewed my notes every day and completed my assignments on time. I also asked questions in class when I didn't understand anything. Because I worked hard, I understood the lessons better. At the end of the semester, I passed all of my courses and felt proud of my progress.

Ignore your work.

I didn't do my homework and spent too much time on my phone instead of studying. Even though I knew it was risky for me, I kept delaying my work. As a result, I didn't understand the lessons. When the exam came, I failed. I felt disappointed.

I decided to talk to a classmate and ask questions about the course. Even though I was shy at first, it really helped me understand the material better. With the support and hard work, I improved my performance and successfully passed the class.

Fall behind.

I didn't ask for help and ignored the situation. Day after day, the lessons became more difficult, and I understood less and less. In the end, I failed the class because I didn't take action in time. I realized that being responsible is very important in college.
