The end of college.

School finally ended! I was so excited that I forgot the choices that was waiting for me, the biggest one… It was time to decide if I wanted to start working has a tech physiotherapy technologist or continue my studies to become a physical therapist.

Choice 1 : Apply to university.

Choice 2 : Start in the work market.

Being accepted at the University of Montreal will bring me a lot of good fortune hopefully. I decided to put aside my career for now. Even more since it’s close to home, and I know the neighborhood. I will finally be able to give diagnostics to my future patient. It’s the start of the semester and we all know that the first day is only some introduction. I think I can still pull of straight A's even without attending this class. Plus, I just woke up, and I’m still debating whether to go or not.

I was finally able to start working in my field of study, and I couldn’t delay it any longer. However, I still didn’t know which branch I was more eager to work in. I didn’t want to work at a private clinic or in the sports field so my only options left were a long-term care center and the hospital. In the LTCC I would have a total freedom, but at the hospital I could see a lot of different cases. I’m lost where should I go?

I was accepted at a center near my place, and I really think I made the right choice. I will be around people who want to say with with us longer, and where I know I could make a difference in their lives. Helping our elders who were let alone, will warm my heart each time a see their smile when we meet. However, being the new one in such a close environment can be hard, and I need to adapt myself quickly if I don’t want to be stock in some office politics. Who should I turn to?

I was called in to an interview at the hospital with their HR board. Once I got their, they immediately told me that I didn't get the job, but instead they promised me an internship with them if I went to university later on. I don't know if I should take their proposition or not?

I decided to stick to my colleague like glue. However, it wasn't the best idea. I got poor on the job training since she was always busy and didn't have time to teach me more than the basics. A few days later, I came across with a patient who clearly needed help, but I don't know if I should intervene or not since I don't know how to handle him, and I don't feel close enough to disturb the personal support workers on their break.

Since theirs a lot to do and many patients, getting friendly with the PSW can come in handy. They gave me advice on how to interact with my patients, and every time I pass near them I am welcome as if I was here from the beginning. After a few months, I learned that most of the PSW were going to volunteer abroad. I was so happy to be invited should I go or stay here?

I decided to take action immediately, and successfully helped the patient. However, a few days later I received a complaint letter about sexual harassment from one of our patients. I didn’t understand how could this have happened, and decided to ask around. I learned that it was from the patient I helped the previous day. Apparently, he strictly prohibited any female employee from touching him. I was fired not long after, and decided to get back to studies to let water pass under the bridge.

Even if I’m not close to them, it’s better to ask for help since they are always with them. I was right!!! I just saved my job, by not being shy, and actually do my best, apparently this patient strictly prohibited any female employee to touch him. He even sent multiples complain letters to show how serious he is. I am now closer than ever with the PSW, and enjoy my job. I am satisfied. I think I will start to think about retirement and my pension in many many years from now.

This is it, I finally landed, and I can’t wait to start. After a few weeks, I really fell like I belong among these people. I can see the impact that I bring each time that I come across a patient. Even without a clear purposes at first, now I know for sure that my previous job would have ended with a dead end. I could be happier. I already signed a contract to stay at least a few more years!!

After a few years, I realized that none of my previous colleagues were coming back, and I started to feel bored. I kept having more and more responsibilities, and felt like I had a dead end job. At this precise moment, some families members of my patients send me emails asking if we could meet. Of course, I agreed right away. At the meeting time with each of them alone, they ask if I was willing to pay special attention to their family with a little bonus under the table. I was shocked, I just received a bribe? Maybe it’s time to get some fresh air?

I finally landed, and was excited to see everyone. I think coming here was the right call, I feel like everyday is different and unique. I got so much recognition for my hard work that the fact that I just gave up my premium wage didn’t sadden me at all. I think I will stay here a few more years and be happy for a long time.

Accepting bribes wasn’t the safest idea, but it sure did bring some excitement along the way. I think I’m starting to get the hang of it. However, fate had other plans for me. One of my weekly bribes was sent to the wrong person so after a throughout investigation, my license was removed.

Getting out of the bed was definitely the right choice. When I get to class, the teacher is already explaining a team project, and to not get on his wrong side even more I decided to sit quietly in the back. During the break, I get up to speed about it and finally feel less stress about it. I got close to everyone in my field of study, and I am having the time of my life. I think it’s time to fast-forward a bit.

With a good night sleep, I decided to attend my second day of university. I met the teacher of yesterday class, and he told me that absenteeism is a heavy crime in his heart. He decided that I would do the team project that he assigned last class alone. How am I supposed to do a four person project by myself!

I drop out of the class. However, I did think that I’ll be this embarrassed to be the only bit graduating at the same time of everyone else. The peers pressure was too much on my mind and body, so I completely dropped out of university, and I am now back to the beginning.

I talked to every student in my class, but no one wants to be associated with someone that a teacher punish personally. I was starting to give up when I remembered the movie I watched last night about corruption. In my situation, I had no other choices, so I thought about bribing my teacher to at least reduce the amount of work I had to do….

I decided to go trough with my bribe idea, However, the teacher didn’t even look at it, and went straight to the principal office to report me. I was expelled from the University, and I seriously don’t know what I am going to do in the near future.

I finished university a while ago, I also succeeded at doing my internship in a prodigious hospital that I am now working for at full time. Life couldn’t be better, everyday is unique and full of surprises, I just can’t get enough of it. I feel fulfilled!

It was finally my long awaited retirement day, I had just clocked out for the last time that I fell down the stairs. I needed to be hospitalized for 2 months which was taking out my precious money from my bank account. I mean what a way to start a new chapter of your life.
