My Crazy Journey as a Dietitian.

A new beginning.

When I got home after school, I found two letters on the table. One was from college Ahuntsic and the other from college Montmorency. My heart beat fast when i opened them because I have been waiting for a couple of months. I read both letters again and felt nervous. I knew this choice would change my next years. Should I choose Ahuntsic or Montmorency?

Choice 1 : Go to Montmorency.

Choice 2 : Go to Ahuntsic.

College

Go to Montmorency.

I am sitting here, imagining the time when I chose to go Montmorency, I remember opening the letter and feeling my heart beat fast. Back then, I could already see myself walking through the halls, attending my first classes and learning everything I needed to become a dietician. I pictured myself in a white coat, helping people choose healthier meal options, feel better and create diets for them. Now, at the end of my program, I can see how much I have grown. Now I am doing on the job training and it is harder then I thought. Some days are long and exhausting. Even though I wanted to succeed, a small voice in my head whispered doubts. Everything I worked hard for could change in just a moment. Should I push through the training no matter what or drop out.

Choice 1 : Push through.

Choice 2 : A new beginning.

Dietician

Go to Ahuntsic.

I am sitting here, thinking about the first time I chose Ahuntsic, I wanted to be a paramedic, but the program was harder than I expected. I failed most of the courses and could not keep up with on the job training. The tests and practical training were overwhelming and I felt like I was getting sucked up in everything at once. I realized my first choice had hindered my confidence and I had to rethink about my future. Now I sit here, thinking about my second option. Should I go to Montmorency or start over and rethink about my choices?

Choice 1 : Go to Montmorency.

Choice 2 : Start over

Paramedic

Push through.

I decided to stay in the on the job training until the very end. It was exhausting, but I learned the ropes, practiced the ins and outs of advising patients, and gained valuable experience that came in handy more often than not. By the time I graduated, my manager offered me a job at the clinic where I did my training. Should I accept the job?

Choice 1 : Accept the job.

Choice 2 : Decline the job and explore other options.

Job offer

Accept the job.

I accepted the job, excited to start my career as a dietician. At first, everything seemed perfect. The salary, benefits and real responsibility. But soon, I noticed inappropriate behavior from a coworker. Flirtation crossed boundaries and I realized it was sexual harassment. I worried that reporting it might affect my career. I stayed professional, but I learned how important it is to know the ins and outs of workplace misconduct and my rights as a recipient of harassment .A doubt still filled my mind: what if they think I'm lying?

Choice 2 : Stay quiet.

Sexual harassement

I declined the job kept looking for others opportunities. I felt disappointed at first but over time, I grew and gained more confidence. I applied to several places and received multiple offers. Each opportunity came with better wages, better benefits and positions where I could really learn the ropes. The setback taught me that sometimes saying no can open doors and that perseverance and patience pay off in the long run. It went so well i might go back to college to open up even more doors!

I decided to report the harassment to HR. It was scary, but I knew it was the right thing to do. HR listened to me and started investigating.
