The third year of secondary school.

We are in March, and you have to choose between two types of courses for the last two years of secondary school. It is either chemistry and physics or cinema and history. You know you are better at the first option's subjects, but you still find history very interesting. So, should you choose chemistry and physics or cinema and history.

Now you have chosen chemistry and physics. The course material is way more challenging than what you have been up too since the beginning of secondary school and since your grades aren't as good as what you were expecting, you find yourself perplexed in choosing a field of study for college.

Cinema and history.

You had become less shy, and you had pleased your artistic side but, although it did all that, you realized that you did not want to do any of the college programs available to you with your present qualifications. So, you did summer classes do obtain other qualifications.

You started the session with a thorough time management plan to pull off straight A's. Though you were thoughtful in your work, you still had a lot of struggles which was maddening and by the end of the session you only had time to do cursory work. For the next year in your program you became better in time management skills and started to see were your strengths were. Now you have to choose between applied sciences or health sciences.

Give up and apply to college in Music.

You chose this because you told yourself that it would be a way of following one of your dreams, but you realized that it was a field made for students that really had a burning passion for instruments and music. Also, you realized that in your situation money would become an issue in your future if continued this path. So, you thought about other programs that you wouldn't mind doing, and you concluded on Science.

Choice 1 : Apply to college in Science.

Applied science.

You are very happy about your choice and discover that you would like to pursue your scientific career in civil engineering.

Choice 2 : Apply in civil engineering at ETS (Étude des technologies supérieurs).

Health science.

You are very unhappy and realize that you don't want to work with sick people. To add, your scores aren't high enough to enter many of university health programs. You decide you want to try and become a civil engineer.

You are now at the school that everybody in engineering wants to be, this university is very focused on the theoretical side of the course and your grades are alright. You are at the end of your third year in the program, and you have to choose an internship.

You are now at the school that explores the manual side of civil engineer, and it is perfect. You had noticed in cegep that you were more of a manual learner. Applying here, you taught finding an internship would be harder since you were from a university taught in French, but there were a lot of tools to help you find an internship, and many companies seemed to really enjoy students that had done more manual work then simply theoretical work.

At first, you were overwhelmed in your own thoughts trying to figure out what to expect, but nonetheless you were very happy to get an opportunity to put a foot in the door and to be able to do a test drive to learn the ropes of the job, something some students couldn't do. I figured this on-the-job-training would come in handy for when I would apply for a job.

You had long taught that volunteering was a dead-end, but now you realize it has given you a purpose, and you have discovered another culture and another language in-depth. It is an invaluable experience that will stay with you forever. Your opinion has changed because you see how it has allowed you to evolve as an individual, and you also know that you will have the possibility of getting a premium wage.

You absolutely love this country, the culture, and you believe you can bring good ideas to your company but your coworkers still see you as a stranger. As a result they undermined you, they withhold important information and all of this is hindering your work. You guess your coworkers don't like the fact that you are a foreigner and so more often than not you feel lonely, since the rest of the company are involved in this office politics. You decide it is time to make a change to not get sucked up in this misery.

Everything was fine until your boss started to be flirtatious with other employees. You taught this misconduct could be considered to be a form of sexual harassment, but you dreaded what might happen.

You really enjoy every aspect of volunteering except for the fact that you are not getting paid, and you see how this will affect your future.

You taught you should start exploring the world while you're still young and before you get caught up in all the work that engineering requires. You became very fond of travelling, and you now wish to find a job that allows you to do leg work, which is a job that involves a lot of traveling.

The allowed the employee to work from home, and they started investigating the accusations. HR wasn't able to find enough evidence to successfully fire the perpetrator, but he eventually resigned on his own.

The recipient of the flirtations of your boss, had confirmed they felt uncomfortable with this misconduct. They felt it was sexual harassment and hey hadn't deter you from doing anything to make these uncomfortable moments sees. You resumed to making threats to your boss to help your coworker because you knew HR wouldn't do anything to help her. You told your boss you would spread his secret if he didn't stop. Eventually, he resigned.

You are now working for an Engineering company in Italy, but you still travel, mostly in Europe, for work. One day, you meet an Italian man, and you fell in love.

After you fell in love, you stopped working to take care of your family. It is during these years that you craved work. Since your drive for work was so strong you decided to start organizing some ideas you once had to start your company. At the same time you tell yourself that you might simply need to get out of these repetitive days and travel.

Settle in Germany.

You are now in Germany working as a technical leader on an eco-friendly housing solutions project. It is a very difficult project since you are the leader of a big team and since it is taking place in a country you barely know. Even with all that you enjoy and visit Germany and you also have the opportunity to learn differently some techniques and methods. You really like it there, and you decide to stay in Germany after the project has ended.

You realized that beside the misconduct of your boss this company is great work wise. Eventually, you receive two offers. The first one is to become a technical leader of a dam construction in Italy. The second one is to become a technical leader of the construction of an eco-friendly housing solution in Germany.

Start your company.

You constantly find yourself not being pleased by your jobs, and you decide it is time to put an old idea to life. Indeed, when you were at university you always thought you would someday start a Construction company. Everybody around you supports you, and you feel like everything is possible, but you realize that maybe you need an engineer that has a similar mindset to help your vision come to life.

Choice 1 : Call an old friend from university.

This old friend, and you had come up with the idea of the Construction company together. You thought he might still want to achieve this goal. Luckily for you, he did still want to try this idea. You meet up in Italy and you two did everything necessary to become a successful company. The company was an instant success and the services your company brought were essential to everybody in Italy and in Europe.

The stubborn choice of trying to figure how to build your company alone isn't working out so great. You are unsure about what your next move should be.

Your company has now been a success for many years, and you have grown outsides of work as well. You decide it is time to retire since your drive for work isn't present anymore. You absolutely loved running the company with your old friend, and you were very happy that you never felt you were doing drudgery work. Even though you feel this way, it is time to pass to reigns of the company to a younger employee and enjoy the last bits of life.

It's been a while now that you have run your company, and you are exhausted. You wish to find someone that is willing to continue what your friend, and you had founded at this company. After long searches, your old friend, and you finally found someone that was willing to buy your company, and that had similar goals for the company as you two. You both sold the company, and you founded yourself with a fortune to spend away during your retirement and no mortgage to pay.

You do not feel motivated anymore by this project, but you are extremely happy that you tried to initiate it. Along the way, you remembered why you once chose to become an engineer. It was your choice for a profession because of the creative yet scientific teamwork aspect of the job. Indeed, you didn't start engineering to run a business. You went back to working as a civil engineer, and this time you were hired to work for the government. When you eventually retired, you received a great pension.
