The End of High School.

It's the end oh high school and to become a doctor, I need to study at college in the Natural Science program, specifically in the life and health sciences section. To do this, I have to choose between applying to Montmorency College, which is the closest to my home, or applying to Bois-de-Boulogne College, which recognized as the best cegep for people who want to pursue the Natural Science program.

Choice 1 : Apply to Montmorency College.

I submitted my application to Montmorency College, and a month later, I saw on the website that it had been accepted. I was so happy and felt like I was taking another step toward my purpose: becoming a doctor. At that moment, nothing and no one could hinder my way pf achieving my dream or take off the sense of pride I felt. Unfortunately, as I began my studies, I realized there was a lot of work to complete. I had to decide : finish college in two years and risk not getting the required R-score for medical school, or extend my studies by a year to focus on the subjects without the heavy workload.

Apply to Bois-de-Boulogne College.

I submitted my application to Bois-de-Boulogne College. A month later, I checked the website and saw that my application had been rejected. I started to panic, thinking that I was going to spend the rest of my life in a dead-end job with a low wage that wouldn't even cover my mortgage payments. I knew I was going imagining the worst, but I didn't understand the reason for the rejection. I had straight A's in all of my courses except for math, where I got 80%. After much deliberation, I had two options: apply to Ahuntsic College's Natural Science program or put aside my studies and find a job with a vacant position to gain some experience and then find an internship, which would allow me to develop invaluable skills to find a better job, who allows me to earn a premium wage.

My application to Ahuntsic College was accepted. During my first year at this Cegep, many things happened. I experienced my first exam failure: I pulled off my first semester because I had the ability to organise my time and do my homework thoughtful. It was in the second semester that everything started to go wrong. I had seven courses, and I couldn't have good time management, and I started to fail in one subject, biology. On the first exam, I got 66%, a grade I wasn't used to at all, and I failed the second exam with 55%. That day, I cried. I had to pass the last two exams to pass the course. I put aside my other courses to focus on the third math exam. It was very maddening because though having studied well and did my exercises thorough and not cursory, I still failed the exam. Finally, I was able to pull off the course by pulling off the last exam with 75% and this made me happy because my work paid off, and I enjoyed it. At the end of the year, I had to decide between apply to Montmorency College, which is closer to my home and one of the best colleges in the Natural Science program and stay at Ahuntsic College, with my friends and taking the bus for an hour every morning to go to class.

Choice 2 : Stay in Ahuntsic.

Find a job.

I completed a training program and found a job as a secretary for a private company. I enjoyed my work, and I was happy with the skills I acquired, but my colleagues kept saying that I didn't belong there because I didn't have a degree. People started saying that I was here because my boss was a friend of my parents, which was completely wrong and a lie. After enduring their harassment for a year, I made an appointment with Nathalie, the woman who works in the HR department, to submit my resignation letter. After reflection, I decided that I wanted to go back to school and do everything I could for becoming a doctor, so I had two options: apply to Montmorency College or accept the offer to become a hospital receptionist intern.

Finish college in two years.

I finished college in two years. I was exhausted, both mentally and physically. I wasn't sleeping at night, and I had a lot of stress to deal with, but the hardest part was when I had to prove to my chemistry professor that the final project was done by me and not someone else. My partner took all the credit, saying that I hadn't done my part and hadn't help her by leaving her to do all the work alone. When he called me in his office, I was very confused, and then I was shocked when he told he was going to give me a zero on the final project, which would have prevented me from getting my college diploma. I showed him our Teams conversation and the report history in World, which indicated that I had completed my part of the work. Midway through my last semester, I submitted my applications to the university and received the responses shortly after. The University of Montreal rejected my application to the medical program, while the University of Sherbrooke, which is a two-hour drive from Montreal, had accepted me. So, I had to decide: go to Sherbrooke to study medicine or complete a bachelor's degree in the Neurosciences at the University of Montreal and then reapply to the medical program.

Finish college in three years.

I finished college in three years, and I had a very good R-score. During my last semester, I applied to three different universities and they all accepted me. So now, I had to choose where I would continue my medical studies: the University of Montreal, the Laval University, which is in Quebec, or the University of Sherbrokke, which is a two-hour drive from Montreal.

Choice 1 : Go to the University of Sherbrooke in medicine.

Choice 2 : Go to the Laval University in medicine.

Choice 3 : Go to the University of Montreal in medicine.

Change college and go to Montmorency.

By changing college, I had more time to get ready in the morning and more time to do my homework in the evening. I loved the school : it was big and welcoming. At first, I was a little lost and had trouble in finding my classrooms, but I got used to it. I even reconnected with some friends from high school, who I used to eat lunch with, but as I excepted, there was a lot of work to do, so I had to choose: risk getting a bad R-score by studying for two years or add an extra year to reduce the number of courses during the semester.

Stay in Ahuntsic.

I stayed at Ahuntsic College, and thanks to that, I got my first job: my math teacher recommended me as a tutor to the tutoring team at the math help to center during my third semester. I was both excited and stressed when I saw the email where I was told the news. I was afraid that I wouldn't be good enough and fail. I was also scared that I would not be able to explain to my student the concepts where she had difficulties, but I knew that I would never have bias towards her. I was even more stressed because I didn't have an OJT, and it caused a lot of drawbacks, since I didn't have anyone to prepare me for this job. I had to find my own ins-and-outs. I was terrified because I was just a trainee, who didn't know what to do. When the first lesson went very well, I started to feel more confident and the days went by, the more I relaxed and enjoyed doing my job. But, with this job, I had a lot to do. So, I had to choose between continuing like this and risking not having a good R-score, or adding another session.

Become an intern for the position of hospital receptionist.

I enjoyed my job as a receptionist. After two years working here, one of the doctors suggested to me to go back to school to become also a doctor, and that told me that I can do my internships with him, but was it a good idea? If you were in my place, what would you do choose between staying at reception and don't risk being unemployed or applying to Montmorency College to do your studies?

Go to the University of Sherbrooke in medicine.

The University of Sherbrooke was a great school where I learned a lot: I made my first diagnosis, had my first boyfriend and many other things. During my four-year residency at the Sherbrooke University Hospital, I was offered a position as a family physician, but I missed my family because I didn't see them much, so I had to make a choice: return to Montreal and find work there or accept the position offered in Sherbrooke.

Choice 1 : Stay in Sherbrooke.

Choice 2 : Go back to Montreal.

Pursue a bachelor's degree in Neurosciences.

I finished my bachelor's in the neuroscience after four years of intense work. I almost got kicked out of a course because of a mistake: one of the people I was working with on a project, used artificial intelligence to complete their part of the assignment, and the professor accused us all of plagiarism since we were a group. As a result, we received a zero on that assignment and a warning. I still had many years of study ahead of me before becoming a doctor. I had to choose between continuing to pursue my dream by applying to the University of Montreal or stopping my studies and finding a job with the degree I had just earned.

I joined my cousin at the Laval University. We rented a duplex together, which increased my sense of responsibility. I studied very hard for years and finally earned my medical degree. I had the choice of returning to Montreal to see my old friends and look for a job or staying and continuing my life in Quebec City.

I didn't want to take any risks, so I decided to stay in that job. I had doubts about whether I would succeed in becoming a doctor, so I didn't want to risk it. Despite the sexual harassment that I suffered at the hand of a colleague and the fact that people started talking badly about me at work, I wanted to stay.

I returned to Montreal to be with my family and my old friends. I started looking for work, and after spending two months unemployed, I received two job offers, but which one should I choose?

By choosing to stay in Quebec, I had already identified hospitals where I could apply. It remained to be seen which one I would choose.

I applied to university and I was accepted. After many years of study, I finally had my medical degree. Now, I must find a job.

I made the right choice by staying in this private company. I met the love of my life and started my family. I had amazing friends and a salary that allowed me to spoil my children.

I found a job in a private company during the waiting period, and I had a good salary, especially since I had the possibility of a promotion to a higher position. I got along well with my colleagues, but the time came to apply to university. I chose the health district hospital because I lived in Laval with my husband and my children, and that way I could be close to my house in case of emergency. It was also a large hospital, where you couldn't get bored. There was always something to do.

During my work, I received a visit from a strange man. He tried to bribe me by proposing me a deal. He would give me a high amount of money, and I would give him confidential information about one of my patients. Should I accept or not?

I accepted the bribe, and one of my colleagues reported me to the hospital director, who sanctioned me. Furthermore, my patients had lost confidence in me, and I faced criminal charges: I risked going to jail.

I refused the bribe because I loved my job, and it went against my values and principles. Besides, I had a very good wage, and I was going to have a very good pension, so I didn't need more money. I'm a doctor to save lives, not to receive money to harm people.

After looking for a job with my degree, I found the job of a research assistant. While working in this job, I realized that I was passionate about research and that my ambition was to find a cure for AIDS. I earned a good salary that allowed me to live a comfortable life, so I wanted to stay in this job.
