My-life-story

A big decision.

I just finished high school in Haiti. I am 16 years old, did very well at school during those past 13 years. I still don't know what to do with my life. I leave with my grand mother at that time, and I can decide if i want to go to live with my father in the United States or in Canada with my mother.

Choice 1 : New York with my father.

Choice 2 : Montreal with my mother.

Choice 3 : Stay in Haiti.

Contry

New York with my father.

If i go to NY, to my father's house i don't really know how life will be. I've only met him twice in my life and he's like a stranger to me. but i have multiple choices if i go to his place. I can work for him at his restaurant, go into the army with my two half-brothers or stay at home and only work part-time at fast food restaurant.

Choice 1 : I work at Tibeuf, my father's restaurant. He is very strict with me, in the restaurant he is my boss and not my father. But at least I can often take leftovers home.

Choice 2 : I already know that the army is not for me. I am the kind of person who loves my freedom. If I go, I will be miserable and unable to see my family.

Choice 3 : If I work in a fast food restaurant, which is completely different from my father's restaurant, I will be paid much better and the workload will be greater.

Montreal with my mother.

If i go to Canada, more precisely in Montreal to my mom's house i will have a much better education. In addition i will me much happier by her side. I could go to school, cegep Ahuntic to study architectural technology, Cegep du vieux montreal and study hard so i become a nurse, or open my small business.

Choice 1 : If I study architecture technology at Ahuntic College, I will be able to start working after three years of study, but the average salary is not enough for my needs. So I should continue architecture at university and that for 7 years, so it's too much study time for me

Choice 2 : Studying at the CEGEP of Old Montreal to become a nurse would be an advantage, because the school is closer to my home and I would already have friends there. My mother has always wanted me to be a nurse, so I would make her proud by going there. Moreover, many nurses are in demand in Montreal, so I won't have difficulty finding a job after my graduation.

Choice 3 : Starting my small business would be a very difficult step. I don't know if I would be able to do it, but I shouldn't give up. There will always be ups and downs. I just have to not give in. For this project, I need to save a lot of money before venturing into it.

Stay in Haiti.

I am staying in Haiti, at this moment if you follow the news you'll notice that the country is in a catastrophic stage. There's unfortunately no future in the country. So I have to either move to another safer city, do to school or stay at home.

Choice 1 : If I move to another city, I would have to start everything over and try to make new friends.

Choice 2 : If I stay in the main city, I should try to go to school while putting my life in danger. Because the streets are very dangerous, people suffer every day.

Choice 3 : if I stay home, I'm wasting time, I will spend my days doing nothing unless I have the opportunity to be educated remotely
