Introduction.

After completing my Master's degree in Linguistic, it is now time for me to decide whether I want to start working in my field right away as an intern, or whether I should go volunteer abroad first.

Choice 1 : Be an intern

Choice 2 : Volunteer abroad.

Internship.

I decide to do an internship. I hesitate between two places : one of them is a hospital, and the other one is a school. Which should I choose?

Choice 1 : Go in a hospital.

Choice 2 : Go in a school.

Volunteer abroad.

I decide to go volunteer abroad before settling into my future career. Since I am fresh out of school, money is tight, and my choices are limited. I decided to go to India, where I'll be a medical assistant. I can go for either six weeks or twelve.

Choice 1 : 6 weeks.

Choice 2 : 12 weeks.

Now that I have decided the length of my stay, it is now time for me to start volunteering in a hospital in India. As soon as I started it, I knew right away it wasn't for me. Since I spent all of my savings to come here, there's no way for me to come back home before the due dates. What should I do?

Choice 1 : Runaway.

Choice 2 : Stay in the program.

Runaway.

I decided to impulsively runaway. I know nothing about India, but I do know that I can't stay one more day as a medical volunteer here. I left during one of my days off, and went to the capital, New Delhi. Since I have no money, I can't afford a hotel. I decide to go in a small restaurant where I try to talk to someone, hoping they can help me.

Choice 1 : Talk to an employee.

Choice 2 : Talk to a customer.

Take the job.

When I finally got the job, I figured I should try and stop getting involved in the office politics. I wasn't able to do so. When the counsel figured I did corruption in order to have my current position, I got fired. I lost my license, so I couldn't practice my job anymore. I had to change career, and started to work in a retail job for the minimum wage.

Choice 1 : The End.

Go in a hospital.

As soon as I start my internship here, I know immediately it is where I'm meant to work. I truly love it. I have to choice to specialize in communication disorders, or swallowing disorders.

Talk to a customer.

I start to talk to a random customer in the restaurant. She's very nice, and we hit it off right away. She offers me to stay at her house for free, until the date of my flight. Since she's a stranger, I hesitate. What should I do?

Choice 1 : Live with her for a while.

Choice 2 : Talk to an employee instead.

Go in a school.

As soon as I start working in the school, I notice right away how much the office politics hinder the work here. I try not to get sucked up in them, even if it's really tempting by times.

Choice 1 : Get involved in the office politics.

Choice 2 : Do not get involved in the office politics.

Become a doctor.

Even if I had just finished my studies, I decided to go back to school and become a doctor. I finished all of my classes with straight A's, and became a known doctor in the same hospital I did my internship as a Speech-Language Pathologist in.

Give my 100% in my work.

I gave my everything for the work I did in the restaurant. Both the owner and I respected our deal. We got really close over time and grew a bond together. By the time I had to go back home, he became really sick. He desperately needed someone's help, and only had me by his side. On the other side, my life and career are waiting for me at home. What should I do?

Choice 1 : Stay in India.

Choice 2 : Go back home.

Give the bare minimum.

I decided to do the bare minimum in my work. Even if the owner and I didn't like each other very much, we both respected our part of the deal. When my time in India finally ended, I left, ready to start my career in my home country.

I figured I couldn't leave him alone after everything he's done for me. I stayed by his side until he got better. By that time, India became my home. We opened a few more restaurants together. When he sadly passed away a few years later, a lawyer visited me. He told me I inherited his whole legacy. I spent the rest of my life in India, managing our restaurants and honoring his memory.

Go back home.

On my way back home, I learned that he tragically passed away alone. I got filled with guilt. At home, I opened a private clinic as a Speech-Language Pathologist and named it after him.

Swallowing disorders.

When I started my specialization, I discovered right away a passion for everything in the medical field. I'm thinking about going back to school and be a doctor instead of a Speech-Language Pathologist.

Live with her for a while.

After a few days of living with the girl from the restaurant, she started acting really weird. Before I could realize what was happening, I was trapped in her house, unable to leave. I went missing for five months. Not only did I miss my flight back home, but I also developed Malaria. Netflix made a small documentary series about my story. Despite its success, I made no money out of it. This event traumatized me, and I later became paranoid.

Talk to an employee.

I figure talking to an employee is the safest option. The person I talk to turns out to be the owner of the restaurant. He offers me to work for him for free, and in exchange, I'll be fed daily and have a somewhere safe to sleep. I accept, since I have no other choice.

Choice 2 : Give the bare minimum.

Stay in my field.

Despite my passion for the medical field, I decided to keep working in my current job. I've always regretted my decisions, and the opportunity to change path never presented itself again. I stayed miserable in a job I didn't like, knowing I passed down the opportunity of a lifetime.

Communication disorders.

I felt really happy and confident with my choice of career. I had a mentor who helped me diagnose properly, find good treatments and help my patients in the best possible way. When I finished my internship, I got offered a job in the hospital, where I could continue to put in practice what my mentor showed me, or to go in the United Kingdom to do some research on communication disorders.

Choice 2 : Go to the United Kingdom.

I stayed for a couple of years before my mentor retired. I got to help kids and adults with stuttering problems, disorders caused by brain damage, and way more. Everyday felt more fulfilling than the previous one. I eventually moved up the ladder and got a premium wage, where I was able to choose my own schedule.

Go to the United Kingdom.

Since I decided to move to the United Kingdom, a lot changed. I became a renown researcher in my field and got to work with famous scientists. I also opened up an office where I can directly work with patients as a Speech-Language Pathologist.

One day, I was eavesdropping to a conversation between two colleagues of mine when I heard something interesting. I knew right away it could benefit my interest, so I reported the information to the principal of the school, knowing someone would love their job, allowing me to take the vacant position. Should I take it?

I did my best to stay out of the drama, and my efforts paid off. I became a trusted employee and got to help many kids with speech disorders. After a few years working in the same environment, I realized it was a dead-end job. Sadly, the timing for change never got right, so I stayed there for my whole career.

I decided to stay in the program for the whole stay, even if I know it isn't for me. Everyday feels like an eternity, and I can't wait for it to be over. When my time volunteering finally ended, I went back home where I got diagnosed with a depressive disorder. I took a year off in order to work on myself before starting my career as a Speech-Language Pathologist.

Ashamed of the way I got the job, I decided to decline it, and figured it would be best to start somewhere new. I found a job as a Speech-Language Pathologist in the private sector. Not only did this job came with many advantages, but also with a premium wage. Leaving the school was the best decision I've ever made.
