The beginning of my life.

After 4 years of being at the Ahuntsic College, I'm finally graduating from the Paralegal Technology program. It was a long road, but I did it! Now, I have to decide whether I should apply for a paralegal job or go to university.

I applied to at least twenty-five jobs, but only two jobs wanted me. I could work in a private agency or a public one.

I applied to at least seven universities because my R score was high. Only two universities accepted me: the University of McGill and the University of Alberta. Which one should I choose?

This private agency is the best decision because my workplace is calm, I don't get sucked up into the office politics, I have a great balance between my professional and personal life, I pursue my hobbies and my side hustle, and I earn more money. Soon, vacation time will come, and I would like to participate in a race car or go on a trip to South Africa.

Going into a public agency.

My relatives always told me that everything public is corrupt and bad. They were right, I should have listened to them. There was a serious and toxic office politics. My boss was always destroying my work and telling me that I was the worst legal assistant she had. I told her that I wanted to see her in court because she had bad intentions towards me. Therefore, I go to court with her, or I quit my job, and put this behind me.

Going into the University of McGill.

McGill University is less hard to get into. I can go by driving or by taking the metro. Also, I'm thoroughly doing my homework, studying, and my time management is better than when I was in college. I have minus' B's and some straight A's. I'm enjoying my university life!

This university was too far from my hometown. One time, I was driving in a blizzard, and I had a horrible car accident that led me to a hospital with a broken arm. I am too traumatized to go to this school. Therefore, I dropped out of it, and I'm trying to recover from the car accident.

Going into court with my boss.

I got into court, and I had all the arguments against my boss and her actions: she sabotaged me by stealing my documents and destroying them with bad intentions. I asked for a monetary compensation of $5 000, and I got it. Therefore, I stayed in my job for three years before I was tired of the office politics.

Quitting my job.

Quitting my job was the best decision for my time, my finances, and my mental health. I didn't have to pay to go to court. Instead, I save money by finding a new job which has a higher wage. Mentally, I decided to let it go because I know my worth. Additionally, my time is too valuable for me to waste on my boss. Now, my new boss is offering me a vacant position. She told me that I can choose between going to a lawyer's office or a notary's office.

Going on a trip to South Africa.

South Africa is such a beautiful and incredible country with a rich history and lots of ancient monuments. I learned a lot by going on this trip. I learned how to navigate a country alone, I learned some words in one of their languages (Zulu), and I learned how to adapt to another country. Likewise, I am currently in this country for one week. Now, I wonder whether I should return to Canada to continue working or visit another country.

Participating in a racing car.

Racing is plenty of fun! My speed was higher than 140 km/h, and it was thrilling! I made some friends, and I continued to pursue this hobby with them. One time, while I was racing, a bird was on the road, and I tried to avoid it. Unfortunately, I hit a tree, but I was okay, except for the race car. I had to pay for the car damage. Therefore, I should pay by myself or ask for insurance help.

Returning to Canada.

Returning to Canada signifies a return to my normal life, job, and car racing hobby. Stability feels right after exploring a new country and culture. I feel exhausted and wonder if I should take a leave of absence from work to adjust back to my routine or continue working.

Continuing my trip in another country.

I decided to go for one week in the Caribbean, and it was a little traumatizing. Indeed, on one island of the Caribbean, there's a civil war in a city. There were gunshots every day, and it felt a little traumatic. I had to leave this city to go to another calmer one. I know that right now, this country isn't in its best shape. Nevertheless, this Caribbean island is a beautiful place with an incredible history.

Paying by myself.

Paying for the racing car's damages by myself is hard. The racing car's damage is high. Therefore, I have to work every single day of the week and overtime. This way of handling my debt led me to feel burned out and exhausted from work. Unfortunately, I know that this debt will be paid over the next two years. I'm screwed...

Asking for some help from my insurance.

I went into a bank to ask a financial insurance to help me pay my debt. The bank's employee helped me understand how I could pay my debt in less than two years. It was such a relief! Therefore, I followed his advice, and after only 15 months, I am currently debt-free.

Vacant position in a lawyer's office.

I have never been interested in working in a lawyer's office because of the typical movies. However, I am surprised how thrilling working there is. Even if the research is long and complex, every research, every case and every day are unique. I'm never bored by my job.

I always dreamed of working in a notary's office because I had the idea that it was calmer and easier. I was partially right. This office is calm and drama-free. However, the tasks are easier said than done. It took me two weeks to finish the research for a family case. Not only that, but the work is demanding, and the employer has high expectations of his employees.

Taking a leave of absence.

Taking a break after this trip is wonderful and refreshing. Not only do I gradually get used to my original sleep schedule, but I can also enjoy the comfort of my home.

Going back to work feels exhausting. I slept badly last night, and I wasn't thoughtful enough with my tasks. I even made a mistake when writing my employer's name. It was embarrassing because I remember only giving a cursory glance at his name.
