My Self-love Diary.

Self-Love.

When I was a teenager, I was completely unaware and not very knowledgeable about self-love. In my family, I was the only girl aside from my mother. I grew up with my brother, and most of my cousins were boys. I was coined as "one of the boys" back then. I played the game of "text", "jolens", "sekyo", and "cebo" to name a few. I was really a brown-skinned girl, and my hair was so dehydrated and dry before because I used to play boys' games under the sun. Until one day, I watched the famous movie of Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla, which is "Must Be Love". I was completely in awe of beauty and self-love.

What happened after watching the movie?

I slowly embraced my femininity and decided not to conceal it anymore. I started taking care of my skin, hair, and my overall appearance. One fun fact: I went to salon to get my hair rebonded because it was so popular in my school back then. I even used Rejoice shampoo, haha.

Want to know the other outlet of self-love?

I started to think that self-love is not only for outer appearance but also concerned with what is within. So, I indulged in listening to podcasts about beauty and self-love. My favorite wellness Youtuber is Fernanda Ramirez"

Taking care of my skin.

For my skin, I used only mild soap like Johnsons. My mother didn't want me to use strong ingredients on my skin, as it will just worsen the overall skin texture.

Hair talk.

For my hair, since I lived in the middle of a farm, my family had a lot of coconut trees. Twice a week, I applied coconut extract to my hair at night and slept on it and washed it the next day. After washing it, my hair was so shiny, smooth, and full of life.

A Better You Podcast.

My favorite episode of her podcast is "Improving Your Self-Worth". One of her iconic lines is "Treat yourself how you want to be treated". OMG! I really like this. This line is my everyday mantra in every phase of my life. This showing that self-love really starts from us on how we take care of our body, mind, heart, and soul.

Glow from within.

I started to glow from within when I speak only good and positive things to myself. Let's think that our minds eat whatever we say to them, so let's be cautious. A journey to self-love is never easy but we can take a step at a time to feel the best inside and outside. Start self-love now. Remember that there's no perfect time for that.
