My last semester.

I am studying Medical Electrophysiology at Ahuntsic College, to become medical Electrophysiology technologist. I am in my last year of college, and I’m so proud of myself that I accomplished what I wanted. I am not sure what I need to do, if I should look for a job make money, or I should do an internship to have more experience. Which one should I choose?

It's time, to look for a job. After doing a web search, I found two very interesting options: the first is to work in a hospital and the second is to become a teacher at the college.

Do an internship before I finish school?

I was super exited to start my internship on the job training in a hospital in Montreal, that was my first choice. After, only one day of doing my internship I learned the ropes of working in a hospital. I was so overwhelmed because there was so much to learn. After that, I finish my sift I was so glad to hear that the technology chief was with me as their intern. I had really impressed her with my work. My internship was my foot in the door.

One of my goals is to work in a hospital, but I'm unsure if I'm fully prepared for such a significant challenge and responsibility. My field of study offers a wide range of career paths, with makes the decision even more difficult. Currently, I'm trying to choose between working in the cardiology department or the Electroencephalogram department.

Choice 1 : To work at the Institute of Cardiology of Montreal.

Choice 2 : To work at Saint-Justine Hospital in Montreal

To become a teacher.

Becoming a teacher would give me a sense of a job satisfaction that other careers can offer. I believe that teachers have a lasting impact on student lives, and I love the idea of discovering each student's unique potential. For me, teaching is not a boring job it's dynamic and meaningful, we learn a lot, and I know I will have a strong classroom management. I know that I would like to grade essays. The profession also offers stability, which support long term like making sure to be a good teacher and understand the students.

To work at the Institute of Cardiology of Montreal.

I recently saw a vacant opening in the Human Resources Department at the Institute of Cardiology. The compensation package is very appealing, and they currently have two positions available. The first one involves administrative or support tasks that we call leg work while the second is based at their hospital in Montreal. Both opportunities sound great to me. I've already submitted my CV and background check now I just need to wait for the first interview and decide which option is the best fit!

One day, they called me for an interview at this hospital. I was so happy that they accepted me, when I was starting to worked there its was a touching experience. My tasks are not always easy do to because you so many little kids with health problems.Even though that it's sometimes hard to see all of that, every moment was meaningful. I will always remember playing Lego with a little girl named Rima it reminded me that sometimes the smallest gestures bring the most comfort.

Do an internship in a private clinic?

I wanted to do an internship in a private clinic to see what the experience would be like. When I got the call to do my internship I was so happy and exited. During my time at the clinic, I discovered several advantages. One of the benefits is the ability to provide more personalized and consistent patient follow up. There's also better access to advanced equipment and faster diagnostic processes. Working with a smaller team creates a more collaborative environment, and more flexible schedule often has a healthier work life balance.

Volunteering abroad serves a meaningful purpose. It offers the chance to gain valuable experience and learn new skills, both personally and professionally. You can develop important abilities like communication and medical skills while learning different cultures, it one of the best learn new things and grow and unforgettable experience and enriching your knowledge. I would love to volunteer in Asia and the Latin country's.

I would like to volunteer in Asia and support communities there by contributing to their healthcare efforts. I believe it would be an invaluable opportunity to gain new skills and expend my knowledge. Although the program offers a premium wage, that's not my motivation I'm going there to help and care for people. The only challenge for me would be stepping out of my comfort zone and being far from my family.

I have two options to volunteering in Latin America, but I'm feeling hesitant due to safety concerns. I need to take the time to calmly evaluate both opportunities before making a decision because I'm scared of the inconvenient that could happen to me.

Volunteering in Cuba.

I would like to volunteer in this country to help them because I know that in this country that there're regions that are very poor and, they don't have medical assistance. By going there I would learn there I would learn their culture, their language and what type of food they eat. I'm afraid about some things by going there like the drugs, kidnapping, tiffs. I'm worried about the corruption there. I'm worried to get sucked up in this system, I don't want anyone to hinder my work and be forced to pay some bribes for my security.

I saw in an article that travelling to Brazil is not safe because it's dangerous for towed foreign travellers, this country has too many economic problems. Also, you have to do so many vaccines by going there because the exposure to tropical diseases. I rather just stay home.

This is the first time I’ve heard of a hospital offering legwork opportunities, which is exciting for me because I’m interested in working abroad and exploring new cultures and medical practices. I’m especially eager to learn about the latest technological advancements in cardiology.

Working in Montreal would my favourite option because I live in Montreal and everything is close. The jobs here are very favorable job offer. Most of the hospitals in Montreal have two departments one in cardiology and the other one is Encephalogram. I would like to do both even dough theirs one less stressful. What should I do?

Working in this department is a big challenge because we work on stress and a lot of pressure, when we work in the emergency in a hospital every minute count because it depends on saving lives. During my internship, a patient came to the emergency room in a critical state, he felt like someone was stabbing him on his chest and he was in crucial pain. I had to connect the electrodes on his chest, to record the electrical activity of his heart and at the same time there was a team of doctors and nurses doing their work. I record his vital signs was very difficult, my heart was very much stalked by so much adrenaline, when finally I managed to connect him to the machine, the patient was having a severe heart attack.

Work in the Encephalogram Department.

In this department we have to have a lot of patience because when we do that we have to be meticulous. I had an internship in during that I had to place electrodes on the brain of the patient to detect the activity of the brain. The patient that I had in this time had epilepsy. The EEG machine helped to detect anomalies such as epilepsy, other brain disorders or tumors.

After I graduate Ahuntsic College I have that choice to go on the labor market to start and make money or to go at university to be a physiologist.

If, I go immediately in labor market I would earn money and gains hand of experience and become financially independent. However, jobs option are limited without a university degree.This path could also help me discover what I truly want to learn before committing to years of university, and by doing it this way I could choose if I want return to school later with a clearer focus.

By going to university, I will have more knowledge because I will specialize in physiology. Also, I do that it will open the doors to more advanced science education. By doing, so I will get paid better to, it will just take time to get to the point that I want.
