My-life-as-a-paralegal-student

The beginning of college.

It was the beginning of college. Finally, I would be studying law and done with all that high school math!

Choice 1 : Go to the library and get prepared ahead of time.

Choice 2 : Study late at night, just one day before the exam.

 Ahuntsic College

Study late at night, just one day before the exam.

I am not usually the kind of student who studies days in advance. Still, I always manage to pull things off, even if it means pushing my limits. The week of the exam, I kept telling myself I had time. One more day. One more night. Then suddenly, it was the night before, and I hadn’t opened a single page of notes. It was already 11 p.m., but I made some coffee, opened my laptop, and decided this was it, I was going to cram everything in. The house was quiet, my eyelids were heavy, but I kept going. I knew I should’ve started earlier, but somehow this had become my routine. The next morning, I walked into the exam half awake, my brain running on caffeine and pure willpower. When the teacher handed me the paper, I stared at it for a second that felt too long. Some questions made sense, others… not so much. After class, he stopped me and said, “you’ve got potential, but potential isn’t enough if you don’t give yourself the time to use it.” I nodded, already knowing he was right. As I left the room, I made a mental note, next time, start before midnight.

Choice 1 : Create a realistic study schedule to avoid last-minute stress

Choice 2 : Keep procrastinating and hope for the best next time too

Go to the library and get prepared ahead of time.

I’m not the kind of student who always had the perfect study habits. In the past, I used to wait until the last minute to start preparing for my exams or writing assignments. But this semester, I decided to do things differently. I chose to go to the library regularly and get prepared ahead of time. The library quickly became my quiet place, a space where distractions didn’t follow me. No phone notifications, no background TV noise, just me, my books, and a clear plan. I noticed that the more I prepared in advance, the more confident I felt during class and before exams. I wasn’t rushing through notes or losing sleep trying to catch up. Instead, I had time to understand the material and even ask questions if I needed help. Preparing ahead also gave me a chance to be more organized. I started making study schedules, breaking my tasks into smaller steps, and finishing my work before the deadlines. That alone made a huge difference in my stress levels. I didn’t just study more, I studied smarter. My goal is to keep this momentum going and build consistent habits that will help me succeed, not just this year, but throughout my whole academic journey.

Choice 1 : Skip the library today and go out with friends, you deserve a break.

Choice 2 : Stick to your study routine, you’re almost done preparing for that big exam.

The Pressure of Balancing Work and Studies.

As the semester went on, I found myself juggling multiple responsibilities. Not only did I have to keep up with my studies, but I also had a part-time job to pay for my books and other school necessities. I had always managed to balance school and work before, but now with my new routine of studying ahead of time, things were becoming trickier. There were days when I barely had enough time to grab a quick meal between work and school. On top of that, assignments kept piling up, and I was starting to feel the weight of it all. But I knew I couldn’t let this pressure throw me off a track. I need to decide, and I was torn between two options:

Choice 1 : The Pressure of Balancing Work and Studies.

Choice 2 : Lower my hours at work.
