My Post-Police Technology Adventures.
Beginning of my career.
After three years of hard work in Police Technology, fifteen weeks of training (some of us called it torture), I finally graduated from l'École Nationale de Police du Québec, yay! I applied to get a job in two police corps and I got engaged in both of them. I now have the option to either work for the Sûreté du Québec or the SPVM. What should I choose?
Choice 1 : Work for the SQ.
Choice 2 : Work for the SPVM.
Work for the SQ.
Working for the SQ is great because you get to choose from a bunch of places to work around the province. They gave me two options of locations I get to choose from:
Choice 1 : Work in Saint-Sauveur.
Choice 2 : Work in Lachute.
Work for the SPVM.
The SPVM is a great organisation because there are a lot of jobs opportunities. So much, that even if I just got out of school, they gave me two options of job:
Choice 1 : Patrolman.
Choice 2 : Mounted police.
Work in Saint-Sauveur.
Saint-Sauveur is a great place to work, because there are a lot of people during the day due to the fact that it is a touristy city. During my first day, I receive two calls at the same time, which one should I choose?
Choice 1 : House robbery.
Choice 2 : A sick person.
Work in Lachute.
Working in Lachute is really interesting because you have all sort of people in the territory. My first day is a night shift, and I get to choose my partner, who should I choose?
Choice 1 : My friend that I've known for three years.
Choice 2 : A senior officer that knows the job.
Patrolman.
Patrolling is great, because you gain experience fast, and it is a really stimulating job. In Montreal, it is a bit different from every other police corps, because the island itself is divided in sections, so the patrolmans don't have to cover the whole city. We call every police station a PDQ. I then get to choose which PDQ I want to work in, Where should I go?
Choice 1 : PDQ 22 (Centre-Sud).
Choice 2 : PDQ 39 (Montréal-Nord).
Mounted police.
Mounted police is such an incredible job, because you get to interact with animals while working. It is also easier to approach people, because the animal between the officer and the citizen creates a zootherapy effect and allows the interaction to be more respectful and easygoing. On the first training day, I decide to take my horse out for a ride. What should I do?
Choice 1 : Crowd control.
Choice 2 : Accident prevention.
House robbery.
When I got there, the robber was still inside. I took out my gun, and he dropped his weapon. My sergeant was really proud of my good work, and my colleagues all wanted to work with me from now on.

A sick person.
When I got there, there was a child that was choking over a piece of food. What maneuvers should I do?
Choice 1 : Heimlich maneuver.
Choice 2 : Inject epipen.
My friend that I've known for three years.
My friend and I have always done our school work together and today, we got the chance to work with each other. For lunch, we have two options of restaurant, which one should we choose?
Choice 1 : Eat at McDonald's.
Choice 2 : Eat at Subway.
A senior officer that knows the job.
At first, I wanted to go with my friend, but as I thought about it, I told myself that I would be better off with someone older. It was a great decision because he taught me a lot of things and showed me the ins and outs of the job like a pro!
Choice 1 : Beginning of my career.
PDQ 22 (Centre-Sud).
I got a call for a person who was disturbing the peace. When I got there, the guy got out a knife and attacked my partner! I shot him to defend myself. Afterwards, I suffered from PTSD because I killed someone. I never should've gone to the 22!

PDQ 39 (Montréal-Nord).
I got a call from one of my colleagues because he was being harassed by a drug seller. When I got there, the guy accused us of racism, and I realized that after all, policing is maybe not made for me because I hate being accused of something untrue.

Crowd control.
While doing crowd control, my horse got scared of something, made a sudden movement, and I fell off. I broke my spine and became paraplegic, so I had to stop policing!

I encountered a group of children and one of them really wanted to get on my horse. At first, I said no, but him and his teacher were very persistent. Should I let him?
Choice 1 : Yes.
Choice 2 : No.
Heimlich maneuver.
Good job! The maneuver worked and the kid was safe and sound!

Wrong choice! The kid had an allergic reaction to the medication and passed away:(.

We got addicted to McDonald's, became fat and got fired because we couldn't run after people anymore:(.

My coworker is allergic to onions and got into anaphylactic choc because I asked for some in my sandwich, and the guy who was serving us did not change gloves!
