The end of high school.

It was the end of high school. Most of my friends already knew the college they wanted to apply to, but I didn't. I felt so much pressure because I still had no idea which college was the best for my career. So, I did some research on the internet. Two choices were available to me.

Choice 1 : Apply to Ahuntsic College.

Choice 2 : Apply to O'Sullivan College.

Apply to Ahuntsic College.

I finally decided to go to Ahuntsic College. I met some new friends who also wanted to be an attorney like me. We studied a lot together, and we were surprised to see that the Civil Code of Quebec was extremely expensive.

Choice 1 : Apply to McGill university.

Choice 2 : Apply for a job as a paralegal technician.

Apply to O'Sullivan College.

I finally decided to go to O'Sullivan College. At the beginning, I was overwhelmed, because there was too much homework. One of my teachers even gave the whole class two long doctrine and a jurisprudence to read on the first day of school. Even if I had straight A's at high school, I had so much homework that required me to have good time management. After three years, two firms wanted me to work for them. Which should I choose?

Choice 1 : Work at Stein Monast.

Choice 2 : Work at Osler.

Apply to McGill University.

I finally decided to go to McGill University because my parents told me all the drawbacks that I will go through if I don't go through with it. My dad even told me that the money and the job will come in handy if I have many diplomas. It was rough at the beginning because I had to learn the ropes, but I got used to it with time.

Choice 1 : Open my own law firm.

Choice 2 : Apply for a job as an attorney.

I finally decided to work as a paralegal technician. I did not like it at all because my boss was more often than not behind my back hindering my work. Furthermore, I even heard bad testimonies from my colleagues. Even if I had a good wage and a compensation package, I was not happy. I needed to experience something new to pull off the sadness and frustration I was feeling So, I had two choices.

Choice 1 : Work as a volunteer in Grace Ministries orphanage.

Choice 2 : Travel around the word.

After feeling a lack of joy, I decided to work as a volunteer in an orphanage in Africa. I had to learn the ropes of how to take care of orphans. It was one of the best experiences I have ever had. Doing overtime was not a problem because I needed this type of fulfillment. However, an alarm has been sent to the village announcing that some armed rebels were starting to come near us. I did not want to let the orphans down, but at the same time I did not want to risk my life. What should I do?

Choice 1 : Go back to Canada.

Choice 2 : Stay at the orphanage.

Travel around the word.

I took all of my savings and travelled the world alone and Egypt was the best place. Seeing the pyramids was amazing. I always saw them in the movies and books. So, seeing them in real life seemed like a fiction to me.

Choice 1 : Start again

Work at Stein Monast.

Working at Stein Monast was the worst decision. I was dread specially because of Ben, my director. His flirtation really crossed the line and started to become misconduct. What should I do?

Choice 1 : Stay quiet.

Choice 2 : Speak to someone about it.

Work at Osler.

I finally chose to work at Osler. Nobody undermined me. I even got many compliments about my work and my good behaviour. Furthermore, I had a generous premium wage. So, it has really pushed me to do a great job. After 20 years of working there, I had to make choice. What should I do?

Choice 1 : Retire.

Choice 2 : Continue to work there.

Apply for a job as an attorney.

It was much easier to be an attorney. Even though I worked in a popular firm, most of my colleagues were speaking Espagnol and did not really consider me in their conversations. So, I quickly felt aside. The place was nice, but people were not thoughtful.

Choice 1 : Learn to speak Espagnol.

Choice 2 : Force them to speak English.

Open my own law firm.

The money was floating like a river. It was difficult at the beginning because I had no clients, but with time I started to make connections, and those people recommended me, and I ended up being known throughout the neighbourhood. I was definitely proud of myself because my law firm revoked many sentences of innocent people and won many cases.

Choice 1 : Start again

Stay quiet.

I decided to stay quiet because Ben had too much notoriety. Everyone liked him, and I did not want to bring division into his beautiful family. Additionally, I was a new attorney in this firm. Who would believe me if I said something? So, I decided to just avoid him as much as I can.

Choice 1 : Start again

Speak to someone about it.

I opened up to my supervisor. She did not seem surprised like I thought she would be. Apparently, I was not the only one. Many female employees brought allegations of assault against Ben, but they were never considered. I had to make a difficult choice. What should I do?

Choice 1 : Go to court.

Choice 2 : Quit my job.

If the other victims stayed quietly, I wasn't going to let Ben continue his misconduct. I was truly tired of coming to work with a sad face. So, I decided to bring the case to the court. The law firm was quickly aware of what I was doing. Despite the threats of Ben, I still continued the procedures. On the day of the hearing, I was not alone, my family came to support me and surprisingly some victims came to give their testimonies. I did not think that I would win the case, but I did!

Quit my job.

I was too afraid of the consequences. My supervisor was the last person I spoke to about. So, I just gave my resignation and decided to find another job. It was not easy, but I did not have the strength to endure the misconduct of Ben every single day.

Choice 1 : Try again

Learn to speak Espagnol.

I was so desperate, and I wanted to be a part of their conversation. So, I decided to learn Espagnol to integrate, but nothing really changed. They were shocked to hear me speak their language and even congratulated me. Nevertheless, a few days later I was left alone again. All this energy spent for nothing. At least, I tried.

Force them to speak English.

I was so irritated that I decided to say what was on my mind to them. It was so embarrassing, and they probably thought that I was a crazy woman. I should have stayed in my corner.

Go back to Canada.

My life was truly in danger. So, I had no choice to buy a ticket to go to Canada, and make sure that I was safe. It was not easy, and I wondered if I have made the right choice. Seeing the face of the kids made me want to cry. I hope I am going to see them again.

Stay at the orphanage.

I could not let those kids alone. We have shared too many special moments. So, I could not conceive to abandon them especially in these moments. My parents begged me to come back, but I stayed. Those orphans were practically like my own children.

Retire.

After all those years, I decided to retire. I had enough money in my bank account and a pension to be able to live well without a job.

Continue to work there.

I wanted so much to take my retirement, but I had to pay a big mortgage. So, I still need to put aside a certain amount of money. I didn't want to continue because the drive of work was too much to handle.
