My Career Path After High School.

Graduate from High School.

I graduated from High School, but I don't know to which college I will apply yet. Should I go to the École Nationale Aerotechnique (ÉNA) for aerospace engineering, or should I go to Montmorency College for information technology.

Choice 1 : Apply to the National School of Aerotechnics.

Choice 2 : Apply to Montmorency College.

Two pathways

Apply to the National School of Aerotechnics.

I have always been curious about planes and rockets, especially after watching so many science fiction movies, I decided to pursue an education in the aerospace engineering field. The National School of Aerotechnics is the only CEGEP that offers this program, and it is located in Longueuil, Quebec. This CEGEP is really far from my house, it is almost two hours by bus and metro. I, either have to do the trip, or I have to move to the college residence.

Choice 1 : Stay at Home.

Choice 2 : Move Into the Dorms.

ÉNA

Stay at Home.

Now that I've chosen to stay at home and do the trip to ÉNA, my days start early and ended late. I wake up every day at 5 AM to take the bus and metro to get to the class on time. I don’t get home before 8:30 PM. After a few weeks, I realize that I’m really falling behind in my studies because of my business, and I’m exhausted. The trip, the classes, and the lack of sleep are causing me stress and bad grades. I start asking myself if I should drop a few classes to get more time for studying, or if, I should push through with all of my classes?

Choice 1 : Drop a Few Classes.

Choice 2 : Push Through and Keep Going.

home

Move Into the Dorms.

I’ve moved into the residence of the college. I have time to study and to do some activities with my new friends. I found a job at Maxi on weekends, which helps me pay my rent. I often go out with my friends, and we study together. Even after all of the studying, I still don't have good grades. There is a lot of pressure, and I’m starting to feel overwhelmed. I’m wondering whether this is the right program for me. I don’t know if I should keep going or drop out and pursue a different field.

Choice 1 : Push Through and Keep Going.

Choice 2 : Drop Out and Switch Programs.

residence

Drop a Few Classes.

I decided to drop a few classes to get more time to study. After a while, I don't feel motivated to continue the program, and I feel like it wasn't a good idea to pursue an education in aerospace engineering. After one semester, I finally decided to drop out of college and pursue an education in a different field.

Choice 1 : Start again.

sad

Push Through and Keep Going.

I continue my studies even though it is hard for me because I don't want to give up so early. I start noticing strange things about my friends. They keep talking about quick ways to make money. Then one day, I’m at my friend’s apartment, and I notice a bag full of drugs under her bed. I don't know if I should stay quiet or report her to the police.

Choice 1 : Stay Quiet and Ignore Their Crimes.

Choice 2 : Report Them to the Police.

drugs

Drop Out and Switch Programs.

I can’t keep going with so much pressure at college. I decided to drop out from college, and choose a different field. For the first time, I feel like I took good decision for myself. Now, I just have to choose wisely what I am going to study. I don't want to waste my time again, and I want something meaningful.

Choice 1 : Start again.

Stay Quiet and Ignore Their Crimes.

I decided to stay quiet and ignore their crime to keep my friendship. At midnight, the police came to check my room for drugs. I didn’t panic because I had seen my friend sneaking into my room. When the police didn’t find anything, I told them that Maya has the drugs. After the incident, I learned not to trust someone, and I decided to quit the college, and went back home to pursue an education in a different field.

Choice 1 : Start again.

police

Report Them to the Police.

I decided to do the right thing and reported them to the police. After my report, the police arrested all of my friends and uncovered an even larger network of people involved in the crime. That’s when I realized I had been friends with dangerous people. I stayed in the program a little longer, but I didn't like the program like as much as I liked it at the beginning. Thankfully, my family supported me for changing my program. They reminded me that it is okay to change my field. I left the college and started searching for a new path.

Apply to Montmorency College.

I decided to pursue an education in Information Technology at CEGEP Montmorency because I’ve always loved computers. Since I was a kid, I found computers really interesting, and now I can learn more about them. I don't know if I should study a lot to get good grades, or I should study less to just pass my exams?

Choice 1 : Study Hard for Top Grades.

Choice 2 : Study Just Enough to Pass.

Montmorency

Study Hard for Top Grades.

I decided to stay disciplined and study hard. I don’t do procrastination. Until now, I have good grades in my classes except a few. Now, I am in my fifth semester, and I have to take an important decision again. The company where I did my internship offered me a permanent job. I don't know if I should start working right away, or I should continue my studies at university.

Choice 1 : Start My Career Now.

Choice 2 : Pursue a University Degree.

A+

Study Just Enough to Pass.

I decided to not take my classes serious, and to not study a lot. Now I have to do my program in four years because I failed a few of my classes. My mom was really angry at me, and she scolded me for not taking my future seriously. After failing more of my classes, my mom told me to get a job if I can't keep up with my studies. Now, I’m working a dead-end job, and I don’t feel good about what I do. I’m depressed.

Choice 1 : Start again.

bad grades

Start My Career Now.

I started my on-the-job training (OJT) where I did my internship. The experience was incredibly helpful during my trainee period. I even received a wage from my employer during the training. I learned the ins and outs of the job from my trainer, Rim. Thanks to her help, I had no issues or drawbacks during my OJT. The people I worked with were nice and showed no bias towards me. The training helped me develop my skills in network configuration. Now, I am not sure if I should continue working here for the rest of my life.

Choice 1 : Stay in the stable job.

career

Keep My Stable Job.

At first, I was excited to be financially independent. The repetitive tasks made me feel like a machine. I felt powerless, and I wasn't happy in my life. The only reason I stayed for over ten years was because of my colleagues. I didn't want to continue working here for the rest of my life because there weren't any place for growing. After twelve years, I realized it was better to quit. Now that I quit my job, I don't know what to do in my life. Should I go to find another similar job or should I open a small coffee shop?

Choice 1 : Search for a Similar Job.

Choice 2 : Open My Coffee Shop.

dead end job

Search for a Similar Job.

I found a new similar job like my old job at a small company. The tasks are repetitive, and the work is boring. I’m planning to stay here, but I regret every day not pursuing higher education. Maybe if I had a bachelor's degree, I could get a better job and a better salary.

Choice 1 : Start again.

regret

Open My Coffee Shop.

I opened a coffee shop after quitting my job, and I think this was the best decision I have ever taken in my life. I don't feel sad in my work, and I don't mind working extra hours because I know it would benefit me at the end of the day. I don't make a lot of money, but it is enough to be financially independent.

Choice 1 : Start again.

coffee shop

Pursue a University Degree.

After graduating from college, I decided to go to École de Technologie Supérieure(ÉTS) in Montreal. I have to do two internships in my program. I want to go to Japan to do my internship, but I might stay in Quebec to do it.

Choice 1 : Go To Japan For Internship.

Choice 2 : Pursue an internship in Montreal, Quebec.

ÉTS

Go To Japan For Internship.

Choosing to do my internship in Japan was a difficult decision. It took me some time to adapt to the new environment. This journey helped me to get out of my comfort zone and helped me to develop my skills. The company where I did my internship was happy with my performance, and they offered me to do my second internship there. After two months, I returned to Canada.

Pursue an internship in Montreal, Quebec.

I did my first internship at Google in their IT department. After working there for a few weeks, I noticed that the manager was stealing the information of clients to sell them. When I dug into it deeper, I found out other people were involved as well. The manager owned a small percentage of the company's assets. In the servers, I found the traces of their thefts, and I realized that it was ingrained in the system. When I confronted my manager, he started to bribe me with the amount of money I would get if I joined them. I wasn't sure if I should join him, or I should report him.

Choice 1 : Join the Corruption.

Choice 2 : Report Him.

Bribery

Join the Corruption.

I made a terrible mistake by joining the bribery. I was really happy after receiving the money but just before the end of my internship, the police arrived and arrested both of us. I was sentenced to prison for five years, and now I have a criminal record, and I couldn't even finish my studies. My life is doomed.

Report Him.

After finding evidence, I reported John to the Director of the company. He was fired and, he was sentenced to prison for five years. I felt happy because I did the right thing. The company’s Director was extremely grateful and told me that I was an excellent candidate for a full-time employee. I’ve finished my studies after two years, and now I need to decide where I should work. I received a job offer from Google as a Systems Analyst, and I got an offer from a company in Toronto, where I did my second internship. I don't know which offer I should choose.

I decided to accept the job offer from Toronto because I wanted to start a new beginning in a new city. To get there, I took the plane because it is faster. During the flight, there were a lot of rain and storm, and our plane crashed. My new beginning ended before it started. What a tragedy!
