Hypertext Narrative of an electrical engineer, or not.

The end of high school...

I finally did it! I'm done with high school. I didn't finish with straight A's but my grades are good enough for me to go anywhere I want. I want to stay close to home, so I decide to go to Montmorency College. For now, my end goal is to become an engineer. Two doors could lead me there. I could either go into electrical engineering technology, which means I would have 3 years of cegep before going to university. I could also join the pure and applied science program to join university after only two years of study.

Choice 1 : Apply for the electrical engineering technology program.

Choice 2 : Apply for the pure and applied science program.

Apply for the electrical engineering technology program.

I'm now in my second year in cegep, and electrical engineering is very fun! I really like it. We have all sorts of projects, and I learn new things every day. I only have a small problem. Even though I love what I do, I'm afraid I won't like it for long. I'm inside all day, and I feel like I would prefer a job where I get fresh air. On the other hand, I know the jobs I could get in the future, could give me a good wage do to my outdoor activities in my free time. I can't decide.

Choice 1 : Stay in the electrical Engineering program.

Choice 2 : Try and find another program.

Electrical Technology

Apply for the pure and applied science program.

Pure and applied science is very hard. I wasn't ready for that. I have to say, my time management isn't the best. I had to push myself really hard. But at the end, I got away with it. I still want to become an engineer. I decide to go to ETS (École de Technologie Supérieure) because I was told they are teaching in a more technical way. I could either go into electrical engineering or mechanical engineering.

Choice 1 : Become a mechanical engineer.

Choice 2 : Become an electrical engineer.

Pure and applied science

Stay in the electrical engineering program.

After 6 semesters and 1 internship I'm officially a technician in electrical engineering. I did my internship at CAE (Canadien Aviation Electronics), and I really liked it there. They're making simulators to train pilots. My boss was happy with the way I worked, and he offered me a job in the installation crew, but I would also love to go to university too. What should I do?

Choice 1 : Stay at CAE.

Choice 2 : Go to University.

Try and find another program.

After searching for months for a program that could land me a job where I would be outside every day, I couldn't find anything that made me happy. I feel like I have no purpose. I've been working at a dead end job for 6 months now, and I feel like I need a new start. That's when it hit me, I could travel around the world to find my passion, and ease my mind. There still was a hard decision. Should I go to Europe or to South America?

Choice 1 : Go to Europe.

Choice 2 : Go to South America.

Travel

Go to Europe.

The travel lasted a bit longer than expected. After going trough all Europeans countries, I fell in love with Denmark. I bought a farmland in the countryside, and I'm now living day by day selling my dairy products. My butter is one of the best in the world and because of its popularity I set aside enough money for me and my wife's retirement.

Choice 1 : You ended your life as a dairy product farmer. You are happy in a beautiful country. Go back to the start.

Go to South America.

So, I ended up in Argentina. A country with magnificent mountains and incredible people. But what really amazed me was the tango. I have never heard a music style like it. I wanted to learn the ropes of this beautiful art, so I started taking violin lessons with a renown Argentinian tango artist. After becoming a tango compositor myself, I went back to Quebec in hopes to become a tango pop start. Unfortunately, people didn't really liked my style. So, in the end I didn't pull it off. I ended my life in poverty as a misunderstood artist.

Choice 1 : If only people liked tango like I do. Go back to the start.

Stay at CAE.

So, I decided to stay at CAE. That is all right with me. The company has a good pension for me, and I'm feeling fulfilled doing my job. I found a working buddy there, and we noticed we had the same passion : LEGO. We started a LEGO city in his basement. We work on it in our free time. So, in the end, I'm happy at work, I'm happy at home, and I have a passion to keep me occupied.

Choice 1 : I love LEGO. Go back to the start.

Go to University.

During a school project, I had to take an in-depth look into microcomputers. I accidentally found something that would be life changing. By tweaking the micro chips a little bit I could make my computer 100 000 times faster. I decided to keep this discovery to me. I developed an AI. With the insane power of my computer and the help of Jimmy (the AI) I took over the world. I solved world hunger and solved the climate change situation. But, not everybody was happy with my way of doing things. That's why some unhappy people killed me in my sleep on my birthday.

Choice 1 : Well, at least nobody is hungry. Go back to the start.

Taking over the world

Become a mechanical engineer.

As a mechanical engineer, I invented a new way of powering cars. My new engine is so fast and efficient that I caught the attention of an F1 team. Williams racing team made me chief of engineering and development for their car. We assured dominance among others' teams, and we won the F1 championship for 10 years in a row. I'm known as a genius in my field of expertise.

Choice 1 : I make cars that goes fast :). Go back to the start.
