When I was 12 years old, I had a huge car accident with my mom. My mom was brought to the hospital in emergency. I was so scared and also stressed. The police officer help me throughout the process. They putted a smile on a boy face after a traumatizing event. Fortunately, my mom was all good, but she had 1 surgery. The police really helped me that day, and I knew that this was what I wanted to do when I am going to be older. I was now 17 years old, and it was time for me to choose my program in college. I want to be a police officer, but my doesn't want it because she is scared for my life. She wants me to be an engineer. Should I choose Police Technology or Natural Science?

Police Technology.

I did 3 years of Police Technology, and I was finally graduating. I made so many memories in college and also made myself friends for life. Some of my friends may be my partner in the future. I learn a lot of things related to Police like communication, sociology and also swimming. It was not easy, but I finally made it. There was one last step, and it was The National Police Academy. It's a 15-week-long formation. It is easier to enter the Police Academy when you have a promise of employment. After that, you are guaranteed to have a job in the department you chose. Fortunately, I had two proposition of promise. It was for the Police of Laval and the Police of Montreal. Should I choose the promise of employment from Laval or Montreal?

Choice 2 : Police department of Montreal.

Natural Science.

I did one year of Natural Science and I didn't like it. It was very tough and the standards were so high. I couldn't see myself doing chemistry all my life or even physics. Sitting all day and doing experience or math wasn't my thing. I knew that I needed a field that would make me move and also give an adrenaline. I needed to help society and make it a better place. Also, I knew that university wasn't for me. So, there was not a doubt in my mind. I was going in Police Technology!

Police department of Laval.

I finally graduated Police academy. I am officially going to start my new career as a Police officer in Laval. They gave me all of equipment like a gun, a walkie-talkie, hand-cuffs, a Police baton and a bullet jacket. For the first 6 months, I am a trainee and someone is going to be assigned to me to help gain experience in my new career. I had to choose between to Police officer: agent Donald or agent Nicolas. Should I choose agent Donald or Nicolas?

Police department of Montreal.

I finished the Police academy, and I was going to work for the Police of Montreal. Unfortunately, it didn't go as planned. Me and the experienced officers I was assigned with didn't match very well together. He even started rumors, after only 2 weeks working for the Police of Montreal. The working area was now very tense. The department was not related with my values, so I decided to quit to go work for the city of Laval. This time, I had a choice for the officer that was going to be assigned with me. It was agent Donald or agent Nicolas. Should I choose agent Nicolas or agent Donald?

The beginning of my career.

Agent Donald was very harsh with me all along my 6 months as a trainee. It was hard and stressful at first, but with the time I understood that he just wanted me to be the best Police officer and also give the best image of the Police to the society. He was 10 years older than me, he had 10 years of experience in the job. So, he really gave me the best advice possible and also at the same time teaching me the basics of the job. After a couple of months, I had the option of working in the area of Laval I wanted. So, it was the west part or the east one. Should I choose West or East?

My new partner.

Nicolas trained me for 6 months straight, and we became a very good duo. He had 3 years of experience and also 3 years older. So, the match up was perfect. After the trainee phases, we decided to stick to the same duo. We worked for 3 years together fighting crimes. He saved my life once. A gang member tried to run me over with his car and he jumped and pushed me at the same time to save me. Our bond was just getting bigger every day. One day, he announced me that He had an offer for the GRC (National Police) and that there was also a place for me. The only problem is that I will need to go live somewhere else in Canada. So, should I join him in the GRC or stay in Laval.

West side.

The department of the west side was very nice. Laval west is the richest side of Laval. So, a lot less criminality. I worked five years there, and It was very fun. I had the chance to do a lot of work with the community to create strong bonds between the Police and the community. After five years, I wanted to try something different. I wanted to be a Sergant detective. I had two sections that were very interesting to me: criminal organisation and major crime. Should I try criminal organisation or major crime?

The rock and roll side Laval.

The East side is where the real criminality of Laval is happening. Every night was a big night, not even a single time to take a breath. A lot of gangs happen to live over there, so there is always a crime happening. One night, I was patrolling solo, and I pull over someone for reckless driving. When I came up to him, he pushed the door, and He pulled out a knife. Should I try to fight him or call for help?

Continuing my career in Laval.

After that, I work for 2 whole years with a new partner. It went very well, and we did good together. We were sending bad people in jail and making the world a better place. I needed some changes, and I was going to start a family with my wife. So, the unsteady hour and night of the patrol duty wasn't working for this new chapter of my life. So, I had a choice to make do solo patrolling, because the hours were better or become a detective. Should I do solo patrolling or become a detective.

The national Police.

I was now joining the GRC with my partner. We had to move to Ottawa. We were now representing the national Police of Canada. We had the possibility to take a training to maybe have our own horse instead of using a car to do preventive patrol. We only had a contract of 1 year over there. So, there was a relocation after the contract, and we had two options. The first one was in Alberta and the second one in Nunavut. Should we go to Nunavut or Alberta?

Criminal organisation.

I had to do a couple of formation before entering the section of criminal organisation. We were working against the most powerful organisation in Quebec. It was mostly over drugs because It is a very huge market. So, a lot of harmful things happened during the war for the territory. I finished my career in this section because I like it so much. I had the opportunity to make some of the biggest investigation in the history of criminal organisation in Quebec.

Major crime.

Major crime was one of the hardest mentally section in the Police. Seeing corpse every day is not easy on your mind. What help me a lot was that I knew that I had the opportunity to take killers out of the street. The main investigation we made were for murders. It was even tough very entertaining because we were working a lot with the criminal organisation. So, I really like that aspect of collaboration between the section. I finished my career as a Sergent detective in Major crime.

The Hardest time of my career.

Unfortunately, the fight didn't go well. I got stabbed straight in my leg and was bleeding a lot. I was starting to feel dizzy, but fortunately another patrol car saw me and came to help me. We put him on the ground and handcuffed him. I needed to go to the hospital quickly because I lost a lot of bloods. Indeed, I end up fine, but I had to take a break of 3 months to rehabilitate myself. I was very traumatized after that situation. So, I decided that I wanted to be a Sergant. That means that I will be in charge of the teams and will help them in certain situations. I really liked it and end up finishing my career there. I really like the aspect of leader ship.

The end of the intervention.

I took my distance and also cover. I waited for my partner to join me. When we told him to get on the ground, he immediately run up to me with his knife. So, I had no other choice, but to shoot him. Unfortunately, he died in the ambulance. It was very hard for me to recognize that I killed someone. I had to go through a lot of therapies to help me recover from the incident. I continue to do patrol until the end of my career. I really like the diversity of it and also the bonds we create with the civilian and our partners.

Solo Officer.

The schedule was perfect. I was only working during the day and sometimes weekend. I was mostly doing traffic patrol and making sure that everyone was respecting the rules of the road. It was very soft, less stressful and also less dangerous. I was responding to calls that were mostly safe. So, I was always sure that I will see my family at night. I finished my career as a Solo patrol, and after I went teaching at Nicolet for the next Police officer.

A new branch of Police.

I went on to be a detective. I was mostly working on case like robbery, vandalism and smaller case. I was not specialized in like drugs or criminal organisation. I was doing smaller crimes, and I like it a lot. Most of the time, I had the chance to create good bonds with the society, and I love it. I was working a lot alongside of the community. I finished my career over there in this department. After that, I went on teaching in college Ahuntsic for the Police academy.

My new life in Alberta.

It was very calm and also the people from Alberta are so nice. I had a girlfriend and we eventually had kid. I decided to end up my career in Alberta. It was a big territory to cover. A lot of farmers over there and I really like the aspect of nature that was more common in my job than in Laval. So, I finished my career here and decided to also live in Alberta.

Too far away.

I didn't realise at first, but Nunavut is so far away from home. Also, it is very cold and cycles between the moon and the sun is not the same as in Quebec. There is a high statistic of suicide in the north of the country, and It was true. I wasn't enjoying my job anymore. I was on the boarder of depression. So, I decided to apply back to Laval, because indeed the GRC wasn't my thing. I came back, and I had successful career as a Police detective. All of my experience in the north really help me with the victims and also families of victims.

The end...

In the end, it was a beautiful career with a lot of opportunity. I learned a lot about life, and It's difficulties. I am blessed to say that I did the best job in the world and also that I may have changed a lot of people live in a good way. I help the other and that's all that matter.
