Wow! I just ended my third year of college, and I received my Police Technology degree. Now I am free to do whatever I want to start my career as a police office, but I'm not sure what to do first. Where should I go next?

I applied, but I am still waiting for my response letter. My friends and college partners told me that there is a waiting list due to Covid-19 and that I should wait for about a year until I receive my answer since they need to run a background check on me, and also they need to analyse my college file even if I had straight A's in school. What should I do in the meantime?

I finally decided that I want to work abroad from the province of Quebec, but I still wanted to work in Canada because of my family and also because I love my country. So, I chose the RCMP to be my future home for the next 6 months since I need to go to a boot camp and some on the job training in Regina to see if I qualify to their standards.

With the year in front of me, I will work as much has possible to acquire a financial pillow to be able to pay the cost of going at the ENPQ, and I will train physically to be prepared to face all sorts of physical tests and to be at the top of my form. To do so, I will need a good time management since I can't do all that at the same time, and I will need to put aside as many distractions as possible such as vacations, weekends and other stuff so that I don't fall behind in my plan. The year went by in a flash, and I am ready for the academy!

With the year in front of me, I will use that time to stay at Ahuntsic College and take the Criminology program. I want to learn the ins-and-outs of my future career and to do so, I will take the time to complete my program, I will try and contact as many police corps to accompany them on shifts to learn the lifestyle of a police officer, and I consider that that would be an invaluable experience to be able to do that for a year. The year went by so fast. I received my degree in Criminology and I learned the ropes of being a police officer at Laval which was an incredible journey. Now, it's time to go to the academy!

I did it!

The RCMP accepted my request and I officially complete my 6 months formation as a federal police officer. I don't know where I will be assigned, but I hope I land on one of the north provinces of Canada since I always wanted to live with the indigenous people.

Wow! This place is awesome! I meet a lot of new comrades, and I have a feeling that I might live the best 15 weeks of my life, but as I enter the bathroom, I witness an act of sexual harassment. One of my colleagues and close friend is doing that to a younger woman. What should I do? Quick!!!

I ran from the bathroom to get some help and seconds later, I came back with two of my teachers and former police officers. They proceed to reassure the woman and arrest my friend at the same time. She thanked me for what I did and so as my teachers. I might have lost a friend in the process but what I did was right, and I know it! The next day, the girl that I saved is calling, she wants to go on a date! What should I say?

Once I saw my friend, I ran out as if nothing happened! Unfortunately, someone saw me run out of the bathroom, and he also witnessed the scene of sexual harassment, and he reported them and myself to my teachers. I am being kicked out from the ENPQ and charged!

Except for that one incident, my time at the ENPQ was worthwhile. I met a lot of new people, created new connections and build friendships that might last after my graduation. Now, it's time to set aside my studies and decide where I want to work. The choice is yours and choose wisely.

A new love, a new heart.

I want on the date with the woman called Alysia, and she is a great person. We talked a little bit about the incident, but we mostly talked about our life at home, how was our time at the academy and other stuff like that. You could tell that flirtation was in the air and at the end of the night, well we kissed! It was amazing, and I am proud to say that she is now my girlfriend! I can wait to see what awaits me next!

I chose the SPVM as my new workplace since I love the city and the people in it. Since there was a lot of vacant position, they are ready to give me the job, but I just learn today that my new girlfriend Alysia chose to go to the SQ! What should I do?

Finally, I chose to go to the Sureté du Québec (SQ) as my new workplace. What's cool is that my girlfriend is here too, but maybe not for long because the chief told us to choose where we wanted to work on the territory! The choice is yours.

Since we chose to go our separate ways, I decided that it was best for me and Alysia to break up. We both hate long distance relationships, and we agreed that it would only complicate things. So, My first shift is tomorrow, should I hinder it or go anyway?

I have arrived at Rouyn-Noranda and the view is amazing! I get to work in the north with people I don't know yet which I don't care at all, I'm with my girlfriend who also chose to go to Rouyn-Noranda, and we are already being assigned to our first shift together. I can't believe we are here, and I am overwhelmed with emotions! Let's see what tomorrow has for us.

I arrived in Shawinigan with a broken heart. My girlfriend just dumped me since we didn't end up in the same police department, and I don't know what to do. I tried to convince her to stay though she wouldn't hear it! I have my first shift tomorrow, and I don't know if I should go or not. What should I do?

Montreal is my post!

I chose Montreal in the end as my workplace in the SQ. I can now work with my comrades and those from the SPVM which is kinda cool. I might not be able to work with my girlfriend, but we will make it work since we have the same schedule and live in the same town. I am being appointed as a trainee for my first week, and I can't wait to see what awaits!

My first intervention!

On my first day, my first call was a domestic violence between two individuals. I arrived on the scene and saw a male and a woman who had bruises on her face. My adrenaline was pumped, and I hadn't recovered mentally from my breakup with Alysia so when I saw her, I immediately took out my gun and shot the man 3 times in the head before being stopped by my colleagues. I am now in jail and charged with murder!

My new boss and my department's captain understood my situation and granted me a week with a 50% income. So, I took that time to go see my family to talk about the situation, trained like never before and recover from those events, so I could be at my maximum on the job for my first day.

I went to work and the only thing I could think of was Alysia. I couldn't bear the weight of our breakup so when I had the chance, I took my Glock and killed myself!

Here I am, stronger than ever, and ready to face the world in my police uniform when I am assigned to my first call. A victim called and said she was sexually assaulted by someone and needed our help. When I arrived on the scene, I took the time calm the victim down, took her declaration and helped as much as we can. We ended our investigation and left the scene. I was amazed! I loved what I was doing, and I truly feel like I can continue to do this for the rest of my life!

I have ended my first week in Montreal, and I am shocked! The people are horrible towards police officers, the corruption between the bikers and some of our officers is disgusting, the delinquency is way too high for us to deal with, and I feel like I have so much pressure from my superiors that I am thinking to already quit my job! I talked about it with my girlfriend and there were so many drawbacks from being in Montreal that I need to go elsewhere! What should I do?

The end of a decorated career.

Well, as I thought, being a police officer was the best choice of my life! Not only did I had a premium wage, many advantages and other stuff, but I made tons of connections no matter where I was going, and helped many people like I always wanted to do. My leadership helped for me being recognized as a good partner and eventually, I became a lieutenant at my station. Also, I am married, and I have two kids with my beautiful Alysia. The time for retirement has come! My pension awaits me after 35 years of service and the first thing I want to do is to teach the next generation of police officers!

Finally, I couldn't take it anymore. I decided that being on the front line was too much and that I am better at helping behind the scenes, so that's why I became a criminologist!
