My Police Technology path.

After high school.

After my graduation at Polyvalente Saint-Jérôme, I wasn't sure if I wanted to go to cegep and study or to take one year off to work and make money and be comfortable enough to pay my school payments.

I found a dead-end job at the Super breakfast 94, I do all the on-the-job training, end up manager. I don't want to quit to go back to school because I think I have a good stability and a good income. I stayed at this job my whole life and felt useless to the society.

After I graduated from high school, I didn't really know which program to choose, I had three career choices available for me.

I was enough brilliant to pass all of my courses in college and university. After, I was looking for a job, I found one 30 minutes away from my house. After 5 years doing this job, I ended-up in depression, because I'm working with dead people all day long and don't have a social life.

I think I finally found my purpose in life: became a police officer! To enter the program, I needed to do physical tests, I barely passed them, but got accepted anyway because they need to include diversity. So, I need to decide to make if I needed to put all the necessary effort to achieve my goal or abandon my dream.

I love working with students. I like the education I give them, they became a part of my family every year. After I graduate, I wasn't sure I wanted to go work with kids or teenagers. Both interests me, because it's really different.

The kids all always attacking me with random question, also stupid one. They're taking me for their mother, and it's getting on my nerves so much. I don't have motivation anymore to wake up every morning and have the idea of being and taking care of other kids.

I truly enjoy working with teenagers. Also, we have a something in common, I'm still young, so we can relate even more than an old teacher. It's easier to create connections. Each year, in one of my classes, I have a favorite student, it's weird, because it's always a boy.

Abandon my dream.

I abandon and did a full change of myself. I made new friends, bad influence my parents were saying. I ended up on the street doing crime to survive. If I continue this way, I will get caught by police officers and go to jail.

I make efforts and I'm seeing results. I'm really proud of myself. I just need to keep my motivation to pass the final tests. Now that I'm in Police Technology, I need to build a good resume for a good job in the future. There are opportunities for Police Technology student, I can be a cadet for a city.

The SPVM have a lot of opportunities for me, I can do traffic circulation, cadet patrol, tickets, and cobra. This can help me gain a lot of experience and a promise to get engaged after I finish my study. There are a lot of cadets, around 200, so I can be with my friends all day. One day, I was going to work directly in to the worst traffic time and without traffic it's approximately 1:15, imagine with it!. I got stock in a service interruption in the metro, I arrived late to work and my boss was very angry at me, and got fired.

I really enjoy this summer job. When I started, I automatically liked to community side of the job, and I was really good at it. Only one time, I was doing an intervention with homeless' people because they were drunk in a park, and it's an infraction. I was super calm and gentle with them, also empathy and consideration for their situation. Suddenly, one of them attacked me with a small knife. I couldn't defend myself, my partner called an ambulance, but they didn't save me. I died!

This is so far the best summer job I ever had! It's not far from my home and there's no traffic where I am. I'm living my best life with my cadets' friends, were patrolling in a car, doing community job, discussing law, giving tickets and learning the ropes of the job. I also made a lot of money, because they're paying me a lot with the new law. Now that I finished my program in Police Technology, I need to decide where I want to work and sent application.

A lot of people want to go work at the SPVM because there are a lot of actions, it's perfect for new police officers. I wanted to give it a try and gain experience very fast, so I would be more respected and experiences faced to my coworkers. I was taking every replacement possible, because we all know that affording to pay you rent in Montreal is difficult. After 3 years of living my life like this and not taking care of my mental health, and I was forced to quit my job because they judge I wasn't able to deal with this job and taking care of me at the same time.

I applied to go work for the SQ, they gave with multiple choices of where I want to work because it's all over the quebec. I finally got sent in Abitibi-Témiscamingue, 9 hours away from my home. I told myself that it would be a good experience, and it will put me in a different reality than usually. Everyone knows one of the principal incomes of this place: mines. One day, I got a call to rescue someone stuck inside the mine, and he was hurt at the right leg. I went and tried to rescue him but the roof fell on us, and we dramatically died that day.

Go work for Saint-Jérôme.

I go work at Saint-Jerome, my step-father helped me get engaged. I love this station, everyone is nice, there is a little bit of alienation, but I'm not in this type of drama. My training partner is a super chill guy, he shows me all the basics and there is no judgment when I make a small mistake. In general, I'm happy to wake up, and I know I will have a good day. After 5 years on patrol, a new opportunity was offered to me: became an investigator. I'm not sure if I want to upgrade or stay with my group in the patrol.

This decision changed my whole life. I made new connections, new knowledge, and a lot of paperwork. I want to end ma life career with this job. Of course, I made a lot of money. My husband, the Genreal Chief of the station wanted to retire and enjoy life, but I'm not sure if I want to retire now or a couple years later.

Investigator

Stay on patrol.

I stayed on patrol, my husband divorced me because he wanted to retire young and travel, but I didn't have enough money yet to retire and travel. I end my life unhappy and alone.

This was the best plan I could ever imagine, my husband ans I travel the world with our kids and Coco, our dog. We were rich, became grand-parents and enjoy the rest of our life.
