I finished studying Police Technology at Ahuntsic College. I should start thinking about my future career to make the best decision for myself. Generally, Police Technology students have two choices. I can go to National Police School of Quebec to become a police officer, or I can continue my studies at university. Which school should I choose?
Choice 1 : McGill University

For students in this school has fifteen weeks of training to get ready with their job at the field, such as shooting, arresting, driving, etc. After graduating, I have to choose a department to work as a police officer. In Quebec, there are two major police organisation that I can choose, which is SPVM and SQ. What department should I choose to start off my career?

Instead of going to National School, I entered McGill University to continue my studies. I have few police related studies that I can do in University, it would definitely help me to get to higher rank in the job, and it will be advantageous to receive a higher salary. I can study criminology or law enforcement. Which one should I choose between two of them?

Montreal is the biggest city in Quebec, there are various crimes that I can face and confront working for this police department. It's a great opportunity to draw out unlike experience that can serve my job. There are lots of stations that I can choose, I would like to pick between station 27 Ahuntsic, or station 20 the one on St-catherine.

SQ is a different bit from SPVM, since the territory that they cover is enormous. They server the whole population of Quebec. The advantage of working for this organisation would be the involvement in a bigger group and get to meet and understand the people of this province. Also, I can explore the great nature of the country while I walk, drive or run to serve the population. Broadly, officers from SQ choose to stay close Montreal, which is the south of the province. Conversely, they choose to go up to the north to see new things.

Studying in criminology is really useful knowledge to learn for me to stay in any kind of job related to police. Most likely, I can choose to become a criminologist or detective. I find those two Jobs is really interesting, and it would be a perfect profession to work in with other police officers to solve all different kinds of crime.

Law enforcement studies are definitely interesting subject to work on. In this course, I get to learn investigative techniques, community awareness, etc. This knowledge can also lead me to numerous paths that I can take to cooperate or to stay in this police cooperation. I can choose to become a probation officer or corrections officer.

Downtown St-cathrine street police station and Ahuntsic is the busiest and craziest station in Montreal. It might be really though to adapt to the work and the catastrophe of the district, but as soon as I get use to it, I sure it's going to be the best station to work at. While I work here as an officer, I can stay and get promoted to higher rank, or I can move to the special intervention team to face solid crime situations. What could be the best choice?
Choice 1 : Staying in the station.
Choice 2 : New chapter with the SWAT team.
As a result of serving more years in my station, I've become a person with a higher rank in our group. I am super happy with the work and my place right now, and I'm willing to stay here until my retirement.

In south, there are bigger cities and towns. Also, it might be a more familiar or hometown vibe cities for most of the students who graduated from the National Police School of Quebec. So, it could be easier for me to adapt and get in to this industry. It would be the best choice for me who likes the urban or city vibe.

Up in north, it's completely different atmosphere and vibe from the southern urban cities. Working in the north, there is more nature, forest, water falls to watch and get a fresh air every day on the way to station. As a person who also loves to feel the nature, it could be a wonderful choice to work in the north as well.

Having my career as a criminologist is also a good job that I can have. I am satisfied with this wonderful job, it's really interesting to learn the way to work in teams with other police officers and to support them staying in this police industry. I'm happy to have this job.

It's a really cool job to be a detective and find the clues to discover the truth of the crime committed by a different type of criminal in the city. Also, it's an attractive job since I get to watch and investigate this scenes and incidents in diverse ways.

Probation officers are one of the jobs that I can do with my law enforcement diploma. It's similar to police officers since I get to be close and there are direct contacts with criminal. We usually work more at the court instead of outdoors. Other similarity is that probation officers control fugitives in a comparable way. For example, we deal with individuals with mental health, we have to prevent all the unpredictable actions from criminals, etc.

Life as a correctional officer is great too! It's as if we are on a relay running, and we are the second runner to complete the race. Correctional is responsible for taking care and supervising the convicts to defend them from causing another illegal act. So, it's as if we are inheriting the well-done job from police officers. Therefore, the communication and a relationship between us is really important to do the job more conveniently on the both ends.

You guided my life and my career to choose the best things that I could do as me. It might have resulted in a different way, the decisions might not be the best one for me, but regardless of any outcomes, the importance is that I gave all to get to that point, and it's that efforts that counts the most.
